Jayden Maiava was close to flawless, completing 23 of 25 passes for 349 yards and three touchdowns before sitting after one series in the second half. Freshman Trent Mosley caught two of them, including a 68-yard strike, and Waymond Jordan’s 2-yard run made it 30-0 at the break. Gary Patterson’s debut as USC defensive coordinator held Fresno State to 116 yards and produced points of its own: safeties by Kennedy Urlacher and Alex Graham account for the unusual final margin, because Lincoln Riley’s team never attempted a field goal.
