Leavitt finished 16-of-28 for 230 yards and a touchdown and ran for 113 more with two scores, one of two LSU players to reach 100 on the ground along with Dilin Jones, who carried 23 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Ross made it 17-3 in the first quarter with a 30-yard interception return, Winston Watkins Jr. caught seven passes for 110 yards and a score, and Princewill Umanmielen had two of LSU’s four sacks. It was 31-3 at halftime. LSU rushed 58 times for 309 yards while holding Clemson to 40 on 26 attempts, finished with 644 total yards to 145, and led in first downs 38-8 as Clemson converted one of 13 third downs. Swinney’s own diagnosis afterward was that Clemson did a poor job setting the edge against the quarterback run. David Eziomume’s 11-yard run with 3:13 left ended the shutout bid. Attendance was 102,321.
