Oklahoma leads this series 2-1 after three meetings. The first was the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1, 1976, closing the 1975 season, when third-ranked Oklahoma beat fifth-ranked Michigan 14-6 and clinched Barry Switzer's second straight AP national title. It remains the only postseason meeting between the two programs, and they have never met in the College Football Playoff.

The second came on Sept. 6, 2025 in Norman, a 24-13 Oklahoma win in which John Mateer ran for two touchdowns and threw for another. That was the front half of a home-and-home agreed in 2014, and Michigan took the return 17-10 on Sept. 12, 2026 — its first win in the series and the first regular-season Oklahoma-Michigan game ever played at Michigan Stadium.
