    About Laura Okmin

    Laura Okmin

    Laura Okmin

NFL Reporter Laura Okmin is a seasoned reporter for FOX Sports’ NFL coverage and the third-longest tenured sideline reporter in the league’s history. In addition to her role with the network, she provides analysis for Westwood One’s Thursday Night Football, Monday Night Football and NFL Playoff coverage. Named to Sports Illustrated’s The Unrelenting, which highlights the most powerful; most influential; and most outstanding women in sports, Okmin has covered the biggest names on the biggest stages. Spanning two decades, some of her work includes over ten Super Bowls, three Olympics, multiple NBA Finals, World Series and All-Star Games. Okmin joined FOX Sports Network in 2002 as a host/anchor/reporter and has held numerous jobs in the FOX family ever since. Along with hosting FOXSports.com’s coverage of the 2012 Summer Games in London and the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Okmin hosted three national FSN shows while serving as a reporter for the Orange and Fiesta BCS Bowl Games. Additionally, she contributed to the network’s 2018-2019 Divisional Playoff coverage as an AFC reporter. Inspired to create her own content, Okmin started LO Productions. This is where she developed PROfiles, a 30-minute series introducing NFL personalities off the field, which aired on FSN. She hosted the series while also serving as its Executive Producer – a role in which she secured VIZIO as the title sponsor, booked each guest and wrote each episode. Previously, Okmin worked for TNT/TBS Sports (2002-2003), where she hosted Braves and Thrashers coverage while also serving as a reporter for the NBA Playoffs. She spent five years at CNN (1997-2002) as a reporter and host, anchoring the network’s premier sports shows, “CNN Early Edition,” “CNN Morning News,” “Page One,” and “NBA Today” which were simulcast daily on CNN and CNNSI. After graduating from the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism, Okmin’s broadcasting career began as a sports reporter/anchor in Montgomery, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She also covered sports for the SportsChannel in Chicago, where she traveled with the Bulls during their championship run. While in Chicago, she received the Chicago Midwest Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Sports – Single Program Covering Sports. Outside of her career as a reporter, Okmin’s main passion is mentoring young women. For the past decade, her company, GALvanize, has reached over four thousand women of all ages in every area of sports across the country. She also conducts media training for professional athletes, coaches, NFL/ MLB teams and business professionals in addition to serving as a senior media consultant for the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association. Okmin sits on the Board of Trustees of the University of Kansas William Allen White Journalism School, where they recently introduced a Laura Okmin Scholarship for young women in financial need. Okmin is also on the advisory board of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission. Honoring her late mother, Okmin wrote a children’s book titled “Mommy Has Cancer” which was published in 2002.
