Nominations for The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films’ 35th Annual Saturn Awards were just announced and we’re in it to win it. Take that, Lost.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was nominated for “Best Network Television Series,” Lena Headey was nominated for “Best Actress in Television,” Thomas Dekker was nominated for “Best Supporting Actor in Television,” and Summer Glau was nominated for “Best Supporting Actress in Television.” Congrats to our entire team!
According to the official release, the Academy was founded in 1972 to honor and recognize genre filmmaking. Over the years, the Academy has expanded their reach to include other film genres. The organization also honors television, and home entertainment. Robert Holguin presently serves as President of the 37 year old organization. In the television categories, Lost once again found its way to the top with 11 nominations. NBC’s Heroes rescued 6 nominations, followed closely by Sci Fi’s Battlestar Galactica and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles with 4 nominations. Showtime’s Dexter, garnered 3 nominations. Fox’s Fringe, HBO’s True Blood, AMC’s Breaking Bad and TNT’s The Closer and The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice uncovered 2 nominations.
That’s awesome, and they totally deserve it! Good luck to Lena, Thomas and Summer! Kick their asses!!
If only this would make FOX realise how great TSCC… No, bad thoughts. We /will/ get a third season! FOX /will/ be the good guys and give us a third season. DVR numbers are good. Online viewing is good… We /will/ get a third season.

BSG is hands down the best written, most compelling sci fi series, and maybe the best on all of television. Once it’s run is done, then TSCC has the opportunity to step into those big shoes, as it deals with issues of man’s stupidity, and causes us to look at our life and society on issues that we often take for granted.
Congrats on the nomination, but I bet everyone is wishing JF had actually done more scenes with Lena, BAG and Summer interacting with one another. With Dekker they make a good team. Separating them in splintered threads diffuses their power and their dynamic onscreen chemistry.
BTW, we SHOULD have had a LOT more Caminator onscreed: her character is the most interesting in sci fi since Mr. Spock. S2 has largely wasted her and this is a error that is a travesty to repeat. Hope this gets Fox yet more to consider re S3. this show has so much going for it; mostly, it has far more fans than the outdated, outmoded Nielsonratings! This IS a GOOD show AND a popular one. Fans should not be penalized because they are on the cutting edge and network TV is not (primarly because they are living in denial while trying to enforce their “standards” on market segments that no longer adhere to them: staying at home on Friday when they can DVD the show or watch it later On Demand…).

Fantastic. I’d really love to see the show and this cast receive the recognition they deserve. It’s just so good. I’ve become such a big fan of Lena’s work. I can’t even find an appropriate word for it. I love what she’s done here. What a great job of casting they did on this show. Just amazing.
It’s great that the main three from the TSCC cast got nominated, they certainly deserve it. But among them, Lena Headey is truly the most deserving. I hope they all win, but Lena especially.

It could make for some interesting television or the late local news, at least.
Summer running up and grabbing the award away from her competition and screaming: “It’s MINE motherBLEEPers!!” as they chase her around the stage and the audience erupts in pandemonium would be… superb.

While I do love Lost… Terminator is on a different level for me. After 5 seasons Lost still blows my mind, but after 1 and a half seasons TSCC feels like an old friend that can pick me up when I’m feeling down. Lost feels like that friend who loves doing magic tricks and crazy stunts… he’s entertaining, but you never feel like you guys can just hang out without him doing something crazy.

and I think it will help when fox decides our fate . the awards are in july I think but the nominations are a surprise and a good thing, came at a good time.
Probably the best actor in the series, yet not nominated, is Shirley Manson, whose character, Catherine Weaver, is the most unlike her real self. I don’t think anyone else is stretching to become the character they play. Manson, in this role, is fully capable of upstaging any other actor in T:SCC. View any scene with her in it and ask yourself, who am I really watching. She’s the real deal.
Are you kidding? Summer owns the Terminator role. The things she has done in this series has made her an icon. She’s the best actress in any series hands down. And I’m not just saying that because she’s gorgeous.

Summer is truly the star. I’ve said that all along. But tell me Shirley doesn’t captivate. She has a singular presence on any stage that can stop your heart, as she did mine when Garbage was in Detroit in ‘05. Cameron and Catherine Weaver may yet square-off. Should be a good rumble.

I love Battlestar Galactica too but I won’t mind if T:SCC kicks there asses as well. Anyway they’ve had their run and will have their series finale in a few weeks.

Personally i think sci-fi should be more recgonized by the oscars. Summer’s performance alone in Alison of Palmdale should have garnered some type of reward, if not an oscar for Serenity then an emmy for Alison of Palmdale, dang why not throw in her performance in Samson and Delilah as well!
