The USMNT and Paraguay first met at the inaugural FIFA World Cup™ in 1930, where the United States earned a 3–0 victory behind Bert Patenaude’s historic hat trick - the first hat trick ever scored in World Cup history. The two nations have since met in Copa América competition, international friendlies and most recently in a November 2025 friendly won 2–1 by the United States.
