State Sen. Terence Everitt announced Tuesday he will resign from the North Carolina Senate effective May 1. He said he is leaving to focus on voting rights advocacy through the NC Voter Protection Alliance, where he began working in January. He also plans to withdraw from the 2026 general election ballot.
