Oklahoma State leads this series 10-6 across 16 meetings, but almost all of it is recent. The two met twice in the 1920s — West Virginia won 32-6 in 1928 and 9-6 in 1929 — then once in 1987, a 35-33 Oklahoma State win, and did not play again until West Virginia joined the Big 12 in 2012.

Since then it has been an annual fixture and a high-scoring one. Oklahoma State won the first meeting as conference opponents 55-34 in 2012 and has taken eight of the thirteen since, including 50-39 in 2017, 45-41 in 2018 and a 33-26 overtime win in 2015. West Virginia's best stretch is the most recent: 24-19 in 2022 and a 38-14 win in Stillwater on Oct. 5, 2024, its widest margin in the series. Nine of the sixteen meetings have produced 60 or more combined points.
