Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Creamed Kale

By winning the Mystery Box challenge, Christine had the right to pick her protein first for the following Elimination Challenge. The theme was legs and the cooks were presented with leg of lamb, chicken drumsticks and frogs' legs. Christine opted for chicken, and created this elegant take on fried chicken that locked up her spot in the finals.

For the chicken

  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk


To marinate the chicken

  1. Whisk the buttermilk, orange juice, orange zest, 1 tablespoon of the kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of the black pepper in a large bowl to blend.
