  • When did you first start getting serious about cooking and why?

    Two years ago, I quit my job in finance, moved to NYC and enrolled in culinary school. A couple months earlier, a teammate and close friend of mine from the University of Virginia was pursuing his dreams to be a US Olympian in open-water swimming and died during a competition. I decided the only way to live is to embrace challenge, pursue passion and live your dreams at any cost.

  • Why did you want to be a contestant on Hell’s Kitchen?

    To open my mind and see what culinary perfection looks like. And of course, to work with the charming and badass Chef Ramsay.

  • What was your favorite experience on hell’s kitchen?

    I enjoyed being yelled at by Chef Ramsey. Any mentor/coach that yells means that they care.

  • What is the most valuable lesson you learned from Chef Ramsay?

    Fight with all your heart, open your eyes and be fully aware of everything that is going on around you. And whether you want to or not… respond YES CHEF!

  • What is your favorite dish to cook and why?

    I love braises. Moqueca – a traditional Brazilian fish stew a close friend shared with me. A healthy and fresh dish; It is slow-cooked which gives plenty time to spend with friends and family to enjoy good wine and some caipirinhas.
