The Rumba is an extremely sensual dance that was often considered offensive and lewd. The Cuban rumba differs from the ballroom rumba because it's derived from dances of 19th century African slaves in the island area. It's a dance of seduction and requires high energy and impressive acrobatic prowess. There are three main sub-styles of Cuban rumba: the yambu, the guaguanco, and the columbia. The only time a Cuban rumba has graced the "So You Think You Can Dance" stage was in Season 2. Ryan Rankine and Heidi Groskreutz sizzled in a performance of "Rumba del Solar," choreographed by Alex Da Silva.
