Episode 404

After eliminations, Vanessa is scared she won't make it another round. Ben thinks Ramsay is singling him out to push him to be a better chef. Before the contestants can relax in their rooms, Chef Ramsay calls to summon them to clean up Hell's Kitchen. Corey, exhausted, tries to get her teammates to speed up, but eventually bails out before the cleaning is done. When the women notice this, they're furious.

The next morning, Chef asks the ladies who their strongest member is. The ladies choose Jen over Corey, which is a surprise to Corey. The men quickly nominate Ben as their strongest contender. Ramsay says he will open Hell's Kitchen that night with a family friendly menu.

The challenge tonight will be to create pasta, and Chef shows them how. The teams will have 20 minutes to make as much pasta that will live up to Ramsay's standards. On the men's side, Craig falls behind and Bobby forces him off the line. Jen screams to the women to get it done. When time is up, Chef applauds both teams for their energy. The team that has the most weight in pasta wins the challenge. The men score 5.48 lbs. and the women weight in with 6.57 lbs. Once again, the women win. The men are sent off to prep for the night's dinner. The ladies get a day of fun. The men are angry with Craig's failed performance.

During prep, Sous Chef Scott asks for a volunteer and Ben steps up. Scott leads Ben outside to an amusement area built for the evening's guests. Ben realizes he has volunteered to clean up after horses who are waiting outside. And if that wasn't bad enough, the women arrive back at the kitchen and see him doing it.

When service starts, Jen pumps up the women's kitchen and the men try to rally behind Craig. Chef rounds up the teams and urges them to be perfect. He announces that the first kitchen to complete service will be named the winner. Jean-Phillipe opens the doors and the orders start to file in.

The women seem to be moving well, and the men are closing in. When the men's first order goes out the chicken is raw. Chef is livid. Matt is in charge of the chicken station, and Ramsay lets him have it. But before Ramsay can stew in Matt's failure, Ramsay sees a fire erupt in the women's kitchen. Vanessa has burned her hand with hot oil and a grease fire catches. Vanessa, who is in excruciating pain, is rushed to a hospital. Chef says that the ladies are one person down and will need to focus.

As service continues, the men and women are neck and neck. Ramsay is disappointed with Matt and the size of the burgers. Jen keeps the women afloat and the Red Team moves full speed ahead. Louross screams out that the women have two tickets left while the men still have six. Craig tries to impress Ramsay but messes up the order again.

The ladies get their last order out, winning the night. Before they can celebrate, Ramsay orders them to help out the men. Craig refuses to back down when Shayna steps up. All eyes are on Craig and he's cracking under the pressure.

After service, Chef lines up the teams. He congratulates the women's team and, in particular, Jen for leading them. He rips the men to shreds, and slams Craig and Ben for terrible performances. He rewards Bobby as "best of the worst."

Vanessa returns to Hell's Kitchen. Her burns are severe and she can't move her hand. Bobby asks his team about who should be nominated to go home.

Bobby nominates Craig for elimination, calling him "a broken compass." He also nominates Matt because he gets nervous when the pressure is on. Chef asks them both to step forward, but also requests Ben to join them. Ben says that being on the chopping block will motivate him to work harder. Chef notes that Craig couldn't get through a simple pasta. Matt made a severe error by serving raw chicken to children.

Chef Ramsay sends Craig home. He then warns Ben and Matt that they could be next.
Chef has his sights set on them.
