Janette danced a jazz routine and a rumba with Evan, in addition to performing a solo and a group dance. Mia said that Janette is her favorite dancer, and she's tackling everything with a smile.

Top 10 - 07 / 15 / 09

Janette hip hopped with Ade, danced a salsa solo, and performed a Bollywood number with the girls. Debbie Allen thought that Janette was mesmerizing.

Top 12 - 07 / 08 / 09

Janette performed an Argentine Tango and a jazz routine with Brandon. After receiving a standing ovation from the judges, Janette was told that her tango was flawless and her contemporary routine made them forget she's a salsa dancer.

Top 14 - 07 / 01 / 09

Janette performed a Cha Cha with Brandon that put the duo on Mary's Hot Tamale Train. Guest judge Mia Michaels said Janette's "been on fire since day one."

Top 16 - 06 / 24 / 09

Janette played the role of a rock star in a hip hop routine with Brandon. Nigel was impressed with this salsa dancer's ability to take on hip hop and nail it.

Top 18 - 06/ 17 / 09

Janette performed a fast paced disco routine with Brandon. Despite breaking down during rehearsal, Janette nailed it and Mary said her flexibility is incredible.

Top 20 - 06 / 10 / 09

Janette fox trotted with Brandon, and both Mary and Nigel thought she did a great job getting into character and channeling Ginger Rogers.

Las Vegas - 6 / 04/ 09

Janette Manrara was the first dancer to find out her fate in Vegas. She has been through a lot in her personal life recently, so she was ecstatic to find out some good news- the spicy salsa dancer is in the Top 20.

I am still attending school part time at Florida International University. I am currently a Junior and have about one more year until I graduate with a Bachelors in Finance.

I used to before I became a part of the top 20! I had to make a decision between my job at the bank or dancing, and I chose to do what I loved...dance.
How old were you when you started dancing?

Do you have any formal dance training?
Between the ages of 12 and 19 I studied musical theater, and then at 19 began my formal dance training under the instruction of Manuel & Lori Castro, taking classes such as ballroom, ballet, pointe, jazz, and hip hop.
If you had to categorize your dance style, what would it be?
My strongest style is salsa with a ballroom flare.
What other talents/hobbies do you have?
I love acting! I've won national recognition at national competitions as a Thespian. Starring in a movie has always been a big dream of mine!
Who is your favorite professional dancer?
Yulia Zagoruychenko and Desmond Richardson. I know they're completely different, but they are both amazing!
Does anyone in your family dance professionally?
Not professionally yet, but my youngest sister dances and I'm her biggest fan!
Have you performed in musical theater or in public functions as a dancer?
I've done various shows in my community, as well as a lot of TV work for an international Spanish TV station. I was also invited to perform in a dance tour across Switzerland for 3 weeks dancing a salsa and a tango routine.
What would you like to see happen to you as a result of the show?
I would love to support myself and make a living through dancing or acting, and never have to return to the corporate world.
Where would you like to be in 10 years and what would you like to be doing?
I would love to be dancing in a professional company and performing on stages across the world, or doing movies in Hollywood.
What has been your most memorable dance experience?
Winning a national dance competition with my studio DanceTown, my last year competing, and right up there with it was watching my younger sister dance her first lyrical solo.
What have you learned so far in going through the audition process for this show?
Perseverance. I auditioned twice. I came back the second time, fought for what I wanted, and it proved to be successful.
What are your favorite dance moments from movies, TV and/or stage?
Yulia Zagoruychenko and Max Kozhevnikov performing their Rumba to "Angela" from Jose Feliciano, and Alessandra Ferri dancing with Sting.
Which choreographers would you like to work with?
All of the choreographers of the SYTYCD family, because they're all amazing! Especially Mia Michaels! Along with them I'd love to work with Yulia Zagoruychenko and Desmond Richardson. Working with choreographers of different styles is so rewarding for a dancer who is trying to expand their dance vocabulary.
