About So You think You Can Dance

On July 20, 2005, So You Think You Can Dance entered millions of homes for the very first time with Lauren Sanchez as host.

Three cities participated in the inaugural auditions (Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles), delivering a final group of 16 contestants to christen the SYTYCD stage. Couples changed each week and after they danced the judges chose their bottom three, requiring those six contestants to perform solos, then America would vote for their favorite among those six dancers. The male and female with the fewest votes were sent home.
