Romancing the Stones

Stuart tries to convince Gavin that his stomach pains are just symptoms of hypochondria. Yet when Gavin discovers that he has gallstones that need to be removed, he tries to keep calm regardless of how the rest of the gang reacts. Gavin names Stuart as executor of his will. Stuart immediately opens it and is appalled that Gavin left his half of the bookstore to his ex-wife. Gavin explains that it will help maintain the integrity of the business.

In the hospital room before the surgery, Stuart unsuccessfully tries to get Gavin to change his will. While under anesthesia, Gavin confesses to Skyler that he has feelings for her. “I like you because you’re smart and funny and full of life,” he says before passing out.

Skyler dumps her latest guy when she finds out he’s cheating. Then she goes on a date with Gavin’s hot anesthesiologist, but discovers he’s married. Skyler tells Katrina what Gavin said at the hospital, but Kat mocks the idea of them ever working as a couple. She thinks Gavin was too doped up to realize what he was saying.

While Gavin is away, Stuart tries to prove that he can do a good job running the bookstore on his own. Yet he causes three fires in one week. Gavin still decides to be less of a control freak and give Stuart the bookstore in his will. When Skyler asks Gavin about what he said to her in the hospital, he claims he doesn't remember.
