My cousins moved into a house where homeless people had lived. For a couple of years, anyone who visited that house would break out with pus-filled bumps. A small bug would grow underneath the skin. The doctor would have to cut the skin and pop the blister. No insurance meant my mom was our MD. She would make us bathe in dog soap. It sucked, but it worked!
My daughter had a friend who would eat anything. She loved animals and loved to pretend she was one. I caught her eating the cat food! Her mom told me she had to punish her for eating the bird food at her own house!
My 4-yr-old knew all the proper terms for things, so when we took his kitten to the vet, I told him Pi was going to be neutered. He asked what that was, so I told him the cat was going to get clipped. At the vet's, I put the crate on a stool by the check-in desk. My son proudly put his hand on it and said to the receptionist, this is Pi & he's here for his manicure.
My husband, my children, and I live with my grandparents. They both have dementia. We try to give my grandparents the life they are used to, so we have chickens. I awoke a few days ago to screaming chickens. My grandfather had snuck two mother hens and their two chicks into the house in a cardboard box. They escaped. My grandmother woke up and gave chase.
I woke up one morning and my then 4 yr. old daughter came out of the bathroom with a dress on and asked "Mommy, do I look beautiful"? Of course I said yes, and then I realized she cut all but the middle strip off her hair! Then I looked in the sink and saw white fluff... That's when the cat walked by and I saw that she had given her a hair cut too!!!
Our children had a pet mouse. One morning, after they left for school, I noticed the mouse wasn't moving, in fact, was dead. Desperately, I searched pet stores until I found a look-a-like to replace it. When the kids got home they were astounded to find the mouse alive! They had accidentally killed it. YIKES!
