When I was in kindergarten, my mom wanted to know what I would do if I came home and she wasn't there. She went to our neighbor's house, expecting me to go over there, too. However, I called the police crying about my mommy going missing. The police arrived and then yelled at my mother for traumatizing me.
My parents sent my two teenaged brothers to pick up a dead relative from the hospital and transport her body to her relatives via horse and cart. This had to be done in the evening and, back in those days, we had no electricity. My brothers both fell asleep and realized as they approached her relative's home, the body was missing. We never stop laughing when he tells it.
At 2 years old, I was returned to my parents' doorstep by our trash collector and, luckily, friend of my father's. I had managed to wander 2-1/2 miles away from home (losing my diaper along the way), ending up at the intersection of Lakeline Blvd. and HWY 183. I am lucky to be alive and I believe my parents have since recovered from this experience.
Every year my sisters and I would go on a road trip with our dad. Each time, he would get lost big time. I started to ask, "Are we on the right road yet?" a lot on one trip. Now that I'm older and driving, he looks at me and smiles. When I ask him what is wrong, he looks at me and says, "So, are you on the right road yet?" It makes me laugh every time.
I live next door to a family of 4 boys. One summer when I was 5 (they were 4,3,1 and 1), their mom called my mom asking if we had seen the 2 year old recently. We hadn't. We ended up calling the police who searched our houses and the whole block. Just as the police were getting worried, they looked out back and saw the 2 year old asleep, face down and naked in the sandbox.
I was about 8 and vacationing in America. We went to Disneyland. We were on a boat and it was so hot that I decided to go down to the lower part of it. There were all these clay figures. I sat between two on some sort of platform. Then a boy came and I was so still, he thought I was part of the display. He touched my face, I flinched, and he jumped back and ran off.
Eldest of 4, It was Easter I was about 10. My parents were going out with family and hush hush asked me along so my brothers did not know. I slipped out and had a lovely evening at a club. I stayed the weekend at my nan's house. When i returned home my friends were keen to inform me that a massive search party was out for me. I thought the babysitter knew oops
With our new chain link fence up, I felt confident leaving my 2 tots to play in the yard while I did dishes. 15 min. later, I found my 2 yr old missing. Just then my doorbell rang. I ran to the front door to find my son in the arms of our local police officer. He said my son was sitting on the street curb, throwing rocks as he drove by. He mastered the fence first try!
On Thanksgiving the entire family get together. The neighborhood that the house we go to is in a neighborhood that the houses all look very similar. My grandma swore that this one house was the house we were looking for. So my grandma and i walk into this house, see a couple of strange people but keep going in and walk right into the wrong house while they are saying grace
