Season 1
Corn Budino with Chocolate Sauce and Candied Corn and Pine Nuts
Recipe courtesy of Frank Mirando
For the episode's Elimination Challenge, David Martinez (winner of the Mystery Box Challenge) had to pick either corn, bacon, or beets as the feature ingredient for all of the home cooks. He chose corn. The twist was, each home cook had to make a dessert.
Frank used the corn to make a terrific budino (an Italian custard). The judges loved the creaminess and the texture of the budino, and thought the chocolate sauce lightly spooned around the custard was a great touch that really set the dish apart.
