Chapter 714
Hal gets a devastating phone call that his father has passed away, but because he never knew his father he doesn’t shed a tear. He fears that he has the same distant relationship with the boys that he had with his own father. So in an attempt to overcompensate with his kids, Hal tries to buy their love with expensive gifts and elaborate games. He also lets them miss school and offers to buy Malcolm a new car. The boys know better, and so does Lois and she steps in.
Hal’s buddy Abe tries to book “Captain Kirk” himself, William Shatner, for a house visit to console Hal. Unfortunately, only Sulu is available. Special guest George Takei comes over to cheer Hal up.
