their hostages.
Malcolm figures out a way to usurp the current president of the homeowners
association so that Hal can become temporary president. Malcolm acts as
a puppet-master with Hal, telling him to use neighborhood funds for things
he would like. When others try to bring up some good ideas for the association,
Malcolm convinces Hal to ignore them. Hal agrees, but it backfires for Malcolm
when Hal comes up with his own plan to make it a fascist state. Angry homeowners
storm the house as Hal excitedly goes to greet them.
Reese has finals coming up and studies very diligently. He's concerned,
and realizes that it's finally time to take control of his life. When he
finds out that he flunked every class and must repeat his senior year, Reese
is ecstatic. His real goal was to study enough to ensure that he would flunk
completely and not even make it up in summer school. Now he gets to stay
at home for another year without getting a job.
