LIVING WILL Original Air Date 3/06/05
Chapter 612

Hal is named executor of his neighbor’s living will and must decide whether to keep him on life support or pull the plug.

In attempting to make this decision, Hal discovers that he is completely incapable of making decisions on his own because Lois makes them all. Hal becomes literally paralyzed with fear (from the waist up only) over the thought of deciding what to do.

Lois snaps him out of it by telling him “You made one brilliant decision. You asked me to marry you.” Hal’s makes his decision, although the audience never learns what it is.

Craig asks the boys to teach him how to fight dirty. There’s a guy who’s coming to town that has bullied Craig his whole life. The boys reluctantly agree.

The bully shows up – It’s Craig’s Dad, a Jack Lalanne-type, Vic. Vic is verbally abusive to Craig, and says Craig’s mother passed away when Craig was two. Vic has come because he’s retiring and he wants to give Craig the gyms he owns (if Craig will accept them). After more insults from Vic, he gives Craig his old baby rattle to remind him of his mother. Vic tells Craig “Fitness was your mother’s life too. Run the gyms. That’s what your mom would have wanted.”

Malcolm tells Craig not to listen to him, but Vic has guilted Craig into saying yes.

The next day, Vic stops by with Craig to say goodbye to the family. Malcolm notices a picture in Vic’s wallet and pulls it out. It’s a picture of Craig’ mom, she looks exactly like Craig except with a wig. She was not physically fit at all. Malcolm argues this proves Vic lied, Craig’s mom was not into physical fitness. Vic did lie, and we also learn Craig’s mom is still alive. Craig tells Vic he will not go with him to manage the gyms.
