Chapter 611

Lois buys a brand-new king-sized bed and Hal thinks she bought it to add
more distance between them.
So he refuses to sleep in it, sleeping on the couch.
Eventually Lois confesses the reason she bought the bed was because of
her flatulence problem. Hal says it doesn’t bother him, and that there’s
no reason to be embarrassed – he’s the only one who knows. Lois
says she’ll return the bed to the store.
Dewey is moved to tears by an opera on television. He struggles to write
his own opera, in search of a story to attach to the music he hears in his
head.
In the middle of the night, Dewey finds inspiration in Hal and Lois’
argument. At school, the Buseys rehearse Dewey’s opera based entirely
on his parents’ dispute over the bed, but Dewey still needs an ending.
At home, he manipulates Lois to stoke the fire.
At school, the family comes to watch Dewey’s opera entitled “The
Marriage Bed.”
Getting the idea from Stevie's magazine, Malcolm and Reese build their
own street luging board. Malcolm races down a hill, but wipes out when a
superior luger whips past him. Unbeknownst to him, it's Stevie.
After several encounters with the “mystery” luger, Malcolm
and Reese decide to modify their board. Malcolm tells Stevie there's a rich
brat who keeps beating him on the street luge.
Malcolm and Reese outline their plan to bet the luger, cheat and then win.
At the race, Stevie reveals to Malcolm he's mystery luger. Stevie uses his
inhaler to push him an inch past Malcolm, and wins the race. But Stevie
then hits a ramp and winds up airborne, crashing into a tree.
Jamie falls head over heels for the baby girl across the street and is
crushed when he discovers she is seeing another baby.
