Walking through an alley, Malcolm Reese and Dewey stumble onto a discarded 3-meter diving board. Thrilled, they start lugging it home. is the answer." They cover it with branches to hide it.

Another day, Reese finishes cleaning the board. Malcolm & Dewey pitch ideas how to use it, but Reese says they're not good enough. Days later, the boys sit around the diving board, going crazy because they can't think of anything worthy of it.

The next morning, Malcolm and Dewey find Reese staring at the board - he's been there all night, struggling to think of an idea. Malcolm and Dewey want to dismantle it because it's causing them so much grief, but Reese says this is important because his sense of responsibility and conscientiousness is growing and he has to do something reckless before it's gone - even if it kills him.

Dewey & Malcolm stayed up all night to come up with an idea. It's very dangerous - Reese will wear a vest with fireworks and jump off and land in a neighbor's pool. Reese is overjoyed.

In slow motion, Reese jumps from the diving board, but it immediately snaps and he falls. All the while Reese has a big grin. After he's covered in rubble, the fireworks go off.

Lois has been having a terrible time with Jamie. Even after 7 hours Jamie won't eat anything. At night, an exhausted Lois has finally put Jamie down Hal calms Lois down, and Lois decides giving in just once would not be a sign of weakness, and lets Jamie play with her purse.

When Jamie escapes again, Lois looks up to see the credenza falling down on her, Jamie has tried to kill her. Hal asks Francis to take Lois back to find her gift Francis reluctantly recants memories of his childhood.

Flashback to Lois is in tears, helpless. She's read books, but nothing helps. Baby Francis out of control. Baby Francis starts having a tea party with his teddy bear pouring lighter fluid into the cups. Just before he lights a match, Lois grabs his teddy bear, and holds the teddy bear over a fire. Back to present day, her hand bandaged Lois has regained control of Jamie.
