HAL SLEEPWALKS Original Air Date 1/16/05
Chapter 607

Hal and Lois’ anniversary is coming up. Hal, disappointed with the past 20 years of anniversaries, struggles to find the perfect gift for Lois. In the middle of the night, Hal sleepwalks and grabs Reese out of bed. Reese realizes while Hal sleepwalks he's programmable.

Later, Hal enters with the perfect gift for Lois. Malcolm informs Reese that sleepwalking is stress related. Reese, not wanting to lose his programmable zombie, hands the antique gift and a hammer to Jamie. Reese is touched when sleepwalking Hal tells him, “You’re my guy,” so he decides to stop exploiting him.

Reese wakes Lois and tells her she can feed Hal the perfect anniversary. “He’ll think it was his idea,” Reese says. Lois tells sleepwalking Hal the perfect anniversary gift: vacuum cleaner bags, etc. Later, Hal triumphantly gives the vacuum cleaner bags to Lois.

A popular guy at school, Brad nominates two Buseys for student president to humiliate them. Dewey counters by nominating Brad. Brad wants to win so he doesn't suffer a humiliating loss to a Busey.

Brad is ahead because the two Busey candidates are splitting the vote. Selfishly, both Buseys refuse to back out of the race. Dewey confronts them, gets nowhere and quits the campaign. One of the Busey candidates tells Dewey he's decided to throw the debate; he didn't take his medication. He delivers a Tourettes speech - filled with cussing. The class loves him.

Malcolm earns a trip to Europe. Thankful, he wants to give something back to the world. He buys a guitar. Lois tells him he’s not a musician, he’s a burrower, he’ll get frustrated and distracted. Malcolm practices in the garage, but soon becomes more concerned with his look than with playing. When he finally performs the song he wrote for the family. Dewey reveals Malcolm inadvertently ripped off the Meow Mix song.
