Chapter 603

Lois forces Hal to throw away the cat habitat he built. Hal leaves
it out for the garbage man to take – along with a six-pack for the
trouble. Later, the garbage man has taken the six-pack but not the
cat habitat. Hal confronts him. The garbage man explains he
thought the six-pack was an apology for being a family of pigs. Hal
follows the garbage man to his home and surreptitiously dumps a small bag
of trash on the lawn. The next morning, Hal discovers a mountain of
trash 15 feet high on their front yard. Hal seeks Reese’s help. So
together, they steal a garbage truck to exact revenge, but Reese accidentally
destroys a fire hydrant and a neighbor’s car. Hal and Reese
run off. Later, Hal serves the garbage man his weekly gourmet dinner
on their lawn in exchange for the removal of two bags worth of garbage.
Lois has returned to Lucky Aide under probationary status (after her
recent firing). Craig sets up a standee featuring an African American
man named holding a mop in one hand, and a six-pack of malt liquor in the
other. Lois removes it, because she thinks it's racist. Days
later, Lois finds Malcolm putting up the standee. She insists Malcolm
take it down, but he refuses, saying he’s just following his boss's
orders. Lois retaliates by displaying an embarrassing photo of Malcolm
in drag at her register. They battle back and forth. Lois is
about to remove the standee when another Lucky Aide employee mentions she’s
glad to see Lois getting rid of it since it’s attracting so many
African American customers. Lois decides to display the standee,
admitting to Malcolm that she was wrong. Upon hearing this, Malcolm
now only wants to take it down. He wonders whether he is only doing
it to be contrary. He flips a coin to decide what to do, but the
coin lands on its side. Dewey plays in the trash as if it were freshly
fallen snow. He goes sledding, builds a “snowman,” and
a “snow” fort etc.
