At the start of the new school year, Will asked Artie to direct McKinley's production of the musical "West Side Story." The leadership role temporarily went to Artie's head, but in the end the cast thanked him for making the show a success.
Artie took Becky out on a date, saying that he admired her positivity in dealing with her own disability. But not wanting too big of a commitment, he broke it off with her when she wanted to take things to the next level.
Artie's angry side surfaced when Sebastian injured Blaine with a doctored slushie. Artie initially wanted to resort to violence to get even, but instead he secretly recorded Sebastian's confession of putting rock salt in the slushie.
After Quinn was left paralyzed in a car accident, Artie helped her become more comfortable with her disability, and they became friends. He assisted her in navigating wheelchair ramps and took her to a skate park on Senior Ditch Day. At the end of the school year, he said goodbye to all the graduating seniors and helped send Rachel off on her new life in New York City.
