Dolls Remain in the Fox House
Dollhouse returns! And, along with the multitude of fans who commented/emailed/called, we’re excited!
The big guys at Fox explained to reporters this morning why they decided to stick with it:
“We think we can grow the show,” Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice said. “The show became much stronger creatively during the course of the season. Joss feels very energized about it, and we believe in him as a creator. We feel he can build the show and grow in the new season and that Friday is a good place for it to do that.”
Joss Whedon talks about its renewal with THR’s Live Feed:
The last few episodes we got to play “the man behind the curtain” a lot. We did less of, “And this week, she’s a neurosurgeon!” Which we’ll still do to an extent, it’s part of the fun. But we got into what makes the place tick, what makes it wrong. It was less, “Murder She Was Imprinted to Write.” The episodes were more satisfying and the network responded to that. And we also responded to their ideas about pacing and it being more of a thriller and a conspiracy so they were seeing what they were hoping for when we got the aspect we were looking for.
And he even teases about the new episodes in a comment at Whedonesque:
But oh, the terrible things my brain is brewing… Just wait. We’ll make it worth it.
Before they even got word of the official pickup, Co-EPs Liz Craft and Sarah Fain give some hints about Season 2 to their hometown paper, the Kansas City Star:
Craft: Alpha will be out there, but we’ll have someone else in Season 2, I’m sure. We always wanted him to get away.

Sorry Fox but I doubt that anything can be done to make this show worth watching. It was dull to begin with and didn’t get that much better. The only reason I watched it at all was because it came on after T:SCC and I didn’t bother to change the channel. Now that T:SCC is no longer on and none of the programs mentioned for Friday night interest me, there is no reason for me to watch Fox that, or for that fact any, night.
Sorry Joss but I doubt even your magic can do anything for this show.
May 18th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
Honestly hope you dont cancel the show. might seem sad but i wait all week to watch it. Found out that epidoe 13 won’t air…well thats pretty lame of you guys. you seem to cancel every decent show.
May 18th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
I loved Dollhouse. I found the characters to be interesting, and I was genuinely concerned about how they would develop. Yes, I understand how it can be difficult to relate to a main character that changes every episode. But really… she doesn’t. There is always some underlying part of her which remains, and it’s that small part I enjoy watching grow stronger.
Even beyond Echo, I find the supporting cast intriguing. The show easily blurs the line between good and evil, and I frequently find myself unsure who I should be cheering for. I find that aspect of the show compelling.
Stick with it Fox. It will reward continued support.
May 18th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Thank you so much for keeping Dollhouse. Don’t let the loser above put you down. I love the show and know 22 others that do too. So hang in there, can’t wait to see more!
May 18th, 2009 at 5:58 pm
Thank you Fox for renewing this show. I can’t wait for the next season
May 18th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Yay! This totally made my day! I’m sorry, RichH, but I completely disagree with you. This is one of those shows that had me hooked since seeing the opening (which is totally badass, I might add). I can’t wait to see where they plan on going with the show in Season 2. Sure, it might have had it’s weak spots, but IMO it’s one of the most original shows on the television atm, and that alone makes it worth keeping on. I was so worried that this was going to go the way of many, fantastic, original shows that suffered from the writers’ strike for the 2007-’08 season of television.
May 18th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Please. RichH, or whoever you are, you have no idea what you’re talking about. I love Dollhouse, it a refreshing new show, with a great concept and great acting. Nothing like Dollhouse is on t.v. right now, I love the idea, the plot, and I’m excited to see what happens next. If you don’t understand the show, maybe you have to pay closer attention. That or you’re an idiot.
I think that this is one of the best shows on t.v. right now.
I can’t wait for season two! (There better be one)
May 18th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
Thanks for renewing the show. I have been watching it every week and will continue to do so. Going by Buffy and Angel, Joss’s shows always catch their stride in Season 2. It was a smart move, Fox. And I’ll be buying the Dollhouse DVD to catch that 13th episode. It may seem like a stupid move for Fox, but I bet it’s gonna drive DVD sales. And the episode will still become a part of the canon. I guess that’s business. I don’t mind paying for it, as long as the show continues on.
May 18th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
Yay!! I am sooo happy to hear that Dollhouse will get a second season!! I can’t wait to see what Joss throws at us next!!!
May 18th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
I am so glad Dollhouse is coming back in the fall. It became the show to watch in our house! I never check to see if a show is returning but I had to check on Dollhouse- it became a family obsession! Great show, Great characters! We love Eliza!
May 18th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
I loved Dollhouse!!! I looked forward to sitting down and watching every episode on Friday night! I felt that the charcters and concept of the show were interesting, I looked forward to seeing what and who Echo, November,Seina, and Victor would be next. I loved the intrigue behind the operators of the Dollhouse, why were they personally doing it, why do they continue to work within the Dollhoouse?
I need more Dollhouse!! I need to know the who’s, why’s, and what is the future for the characters and the Dollhouse organization? There better be a Season 2 for the Dollhouse!!!!
May 18th, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Fox can go to hell. They made the first few episodes of Dollhouse boring with their meddling, ensuring the audience would tune out. They renew boring shows like “lie to me” and they killed Terminator with bad scheduling.
Fringe was great and I’m glad its back but I’m no longer loyal to FOX or any network. You cancel all the shows and can’t market for squat, and keep making boring shows about cops and doctors. I’ll download Fringe on Bittorrent just to ensure you don’t get my eyeballs on a real TV or your frakking hulu.
May 18th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Canceling TSCC was a mistake. I loved Dollhouse, but I won’t be watching it anymore. It’s just not worth it, especially because I know it will be canceled after 13 episodes.
May 18th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Dollhouse is such a great show and it has so much potential . . . The characters are interesting, the plot has grown thicker as it progresses, the surprises are always shocking . . I’m excited that we will get a chance to see where it goes from here!
May 18th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
I used to like Dollhouse. Now that you’ve cancelled Terminator, I will no longer be watching. Good bye.
May 18th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
One point for the house of dolls. Terminator 0. That’s just sad. I liked both but Tscc better. Good luck to you Dollhouse fans. I can already picture you guys complaining online when Fox cancels Dollhouse early after 9 of the proposed 13 epi’s later this year. I’ll bring some Cleenex for your tears.
May 19th, 2009 at 12:15 am
Hooray! I was so worried that you would cancel this one. I love the directions it has taken and I know the mind of Joss Whedon has so many more surprises in store.
May 19th, 2009 at 2:52 am
When I first heard about Dollhouse I though it was an interesting idea that could have great possibilities. When I saw who was running it and the star, I thought even better. Then came what I thought was the pilot and was disappointed. Later it was said that they went without a pilot and it was the first show. I still had hopes for the show but as it continued it failed to reach what it could have been. Sure there were a couple of shows towards the end of the season that were very good and I again had hopes, then came the final one and it was back downhill.
Was this the fault of Fox or Joss or the writers or actors or some or all of those? I don’t know but what I do know is they took a very good idea and came up with a not so good product.
And Sofie, I was reading scifi back in the days when most of what we consider commonplace these days (computers, cell phones, space travel, etc.) were considered scifi. I can even remember when almost no one had a TV and the ones who did only got 3 channels (if they were lucky) and the remote was one of us kids getting up and changing the channel. I know and understand scifi very well. I have loved scifi and its off shoots for more years than most people on the show and on these boards have even been alive.
Now when it comes back, if I heard good things about it, I may go to HULU and see if it has gotten better but watch on Fox, nope they have disappointed me for the last time.
May 19th, 2009 at 2:59 am
Yeeha! This has pulled me back from the brink of despair after The Sarah Connor Chronicles was pulled. I loved that show! Possibly a tad more than Dollhouse, but I have faith that the sheer scope of Dollhouse can eventually fill the void that TSCC has left. Fox can do something half right at least. I only wish they could’ve gone the whole hog and renewed both, but thats wishful thinking considering Fox’s past history with Sci-fi shows, I feel.
May 19th, 2009 at 4:54 am
I am so glad that Dollhouse hasn’t been sent to the attic. I really enjoy the show, the concept and especially how the last few episodes took the series to a whole new level.
Having said that, I have to add that the episodes have been very uneven, and often fall into give-me-a-break cliches. Frankenstein inspired lightning effect? Please. Alpha behaving like a mad scientist? Just one small step away from the hand-rubbing maniacal laugh of pure evil.
I have been crazy about Eliza ever since I saw her in Bring It On, but her acting skills still need sharpening. I’ve discovered a new star though: Miracle has been nothing less. And she’s absolutely gorgeous.
Despite the cringes, I do look forward to the show every week so keep up the good work. Just push yourself a little harder. In many ways, Dollhouse is like a puppet show. It can be mesmerizing. But when the strings are so obvious, it can ruin it.
May 19th, 2009 at 6:12 am
Thank you for keeping this show alive. Love it and can’t wait for it to reach Australian TV. Excellent
May 19th, 2009 at 6:38 am
Each to their own I suppose but personally I think your nuts RichH. The last show was the best of the 12 aired… in my opinion this is the best show out there on TV. (I normally don’t bother to watch and TV channels unless I’m ill or bored)
I’m thrilled to see that Dollhouse is being renewed and look forward to what new episodes will bring. For once FOX didn’t leave me with a bad taste and a desire to shut off the TV for good.
May 19th, 2009 at 7:32 am
Why is Terminator cancelled? WHY?
I loved that show… and allot of other people do…
You guys made a great mistake by cancelling and i hope you guys will be reconsidering your decision for T:SCC
look how many people want to keep the show

May 19th, 2009 at 7:50 am
DEAR FOX…. AGAIN YOU SHOW HOW IT IS IN YOUR NATURE TO DESTROY YOUR SELF..YOU HAD SUCH A GOOD THING GOING WITH TSCC…THAT WAS BY FAR THE BEST SHOW I HAD SEEN ON FOX SINCE THE X FILES AND HAD THE POTENTIAL TO JUST AS WELL. DOLL HOUSE WAS AND IS A JOKE IT IS LIKE REALLY SOFT PORN/KICK BOXING COMBO ON REALLY BAD ACID…IT SHOULD LAST ALL OF ABOUT 3 WEEKS AND THEN JOSH WILL GET SOME FREE TIME TO FIND SOME OTHER PROJECT FOR SUMMER G TO GET STARTED ON…I WISH YOU ALL NOTHING BUT BAD LUCK AND HOPE YOU FAIL ON FUTURE PROJECTS
May 19th, 2009 at 7:57 am
Wow this is the beginning of making up for your Firefly mistake. Dollhouse is a great show a lot of very subtle twists and misdirection which makes you guessing and talking about it.
Have faith in Joss if you didn’t like the first season or just kinda did I’d be willing to bet the next season will blow you away.
Can’t wait to see just how deep this rabbit hole goes.
May 19th, 2009 at 9:02 am
SUX… take off Tscc… and keep with the dollhouse, i watch both shows, BUT the end of season 2 of Terminator leave a lot clifhanger, and NOW once AGAIN, FOX end a show withou ending…
.
Everyday i think more and more about continue watching your series… Because I never know if the same was have a END!!!
.
FOX never more… stop watching after ANOTHER show without end… it’s sux be fã of FOX… no respect with the viewer…. shame!
May 19th, 2009 at 9:34 am
AWESOME! THANK YOU FOX!!! I’m SO psyched that it will have a second season!!! I was brokenhearted when I heard it may get canceled. I’ve seen every episode via hulu, & I’m totally loyal to this unique show. I, too, can’t wait to see what Joss throws at us next; he’s so brilliant with all the twists & turns he gives us with this show!
May 19th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Great news. This show challenges the mind on the line between right and wrong. Always a thoughtful show (just like FireFly) and entertaining. Sci Fi should always make you think. Looking forward to Season 2.
May 19th, 2009 at 10:32 am
I adore all things Joss Whedon. Given enough time, all of his brain children grow up to become something entirely mindblowing and bad a@@. Dollhouse is only the most recent example. Kudos to FOX for recognizing the potential powerhouse they have in JW and the fanbase he brings to all his ventures. Can’t wait for Season 2 (and 8).
May 19th, 2009 at 10:38 am
I am pleased that DollHouse will be returning. After a slow start, the series began to really add some “meat” to its bones. After BSG ended, I feared I wouldn’t be able to find anything to keep me entertained Friday nights. I am looking forward to seeing what else Whedon will send our way. Kudos for renewing!
May 19th, 2009 at 11:25 am
With Terminator SCC (#1) and Dollhouse (#2), Fox had arguably the two most interesting, thoughtful and entertaining shows left on Television (after BSG concluded). Can’t believe that the same corporate “analysis” that mistakenly dropped TSSC smartly kept Dollhouse. They got it half right, but if the choice was between the two, Fox should have kept Terminator. That being said, look forward to where Dollhouse goes next season….
May 19th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Thanks for season 2! We’re glad you believe in Joss… Now, about changing it to a 22 episode order :). Thanks much!
May 19th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
hey this show is great me and my wife wait all week to watch it when will the next season start ? does any one know….
May 19th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
I’m glad to hear that Dollhouse is going to be renewed. Dollhouse, Fringe and Lie to Me are the only Fox shows I watch. I hate “reality” programming and couldn’t care less about American Idol. I’m happy that Fox isn’t just looking at Nielsen ratings (always thought that was an outdated system anyhow). I watch the shows on Fox.com. I love the fact that I can watch these shows online on my PC at any time because inevitably I miss Dollhouse on Friday nights because I am out and about.
May 19th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
That’s great that you didn’t gut it right off the bat.
Is it too much to hope that it won’t be turned into yet another bland, serialized, generic context for commercials when it returns?
May 19th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
To Mairou;
The fan base he brings? Where were they? This show started at the bottom of the ratings for Friday night and not only stayed there but actually had less at the final show.
And to all the fans. Enjoy the 13 episodes you will get. If Fox continues it ways and Joss doesn’t perform a miracle and bring in a lot more fans than have been there, 13 is all you will get. I will hope for all the fans posting here that he can but I don’t have high hope that it will happen. I will not be one of them but if he can do it, more power and great for you. Otherwise, sorry I know how you feel.
May 19th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
I LOVE this show. I wait for it every week. I’m soo excited that it will continue. This show has promising talent. It combines both action and critical thinking. I hope it continues to gain success. Thanx FOX!!!!!!
May 19th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
This show is amazing. Great storyline and with just enough twists each week to make you tune in again.
Great job to the ‘Dollhouse’ team!
May 19th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
I loved this show and even though it was on at a really bad time (friday night…really) I always made sure to catch up on Hulu, often Saturday morning because I couldn’t wait to see it. I feel like it got better and better towards the end of the season. I hope it continues for more than just one more season.
May 19th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Whoot! My friends and I are thrilled that it will be back. We love this show!
May 19th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for keeping Dollhouse. it was a slow start.. but it was worth it.. was soooo good. and NEVER saw the whole alpha reveal coming. Thank you for making a show were i actually care about the characters every week. I also loved finding out the doctor was Whiskey.. wow. I love that Joss brings in soooo many familar faces from his different worlds. Now just need to get Nathan Fillon in for a guest spot!!!
May 19th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
Very happy that Dollhouse will continue. I believe it has great potential and have been really enjoying all the episodes and have gotten others into it. I believe character development is superb and the acting excellent! Just continue developing and acting great and it will be a hit. I also believe that the advertising has not been enough!
May 19th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
YAAAAAY! I have been waiting on tetherhooks to find out if Dollhouse will return, and I am so pleased that I will get to see a second season!
May 19th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
I was so glad when I saw that you guys were keeping the show! It seems like everytime I fall in love with a sci-fi themed show you guys cancel it after a season or two! And I love this one so much I wait all week for it! Keep them coming guys and we’ll keep watching! Thanks Fox and thanks Joss and Eliza!
May 19th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
LOVE this show! can’t wait for season 2!!
May 19th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Once again, Joss Whedon proves that he wins at life. =] Believable, human characters in extraordinary circumstances. Witty repartee. Eliza Dushku kickin’ butt and takin’ names. Kudos to you, Fox, for realizing that Joss Whedon is deserving of your trust and your time. I can’t wait to find out how the residual imprinting stuff is handled…
May 19th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
Looking forward to 2nd season. Thanks!
May 20th, 2009 at 5:06 am
I can’t believe Fox chose “Dollhouse” over “Sarah Connor Chronicles.” I honesty think they made the wrong choice this time… I usually love Whedon’s work, but not in this case…
Boo, hisssss!
May 20th, 2009 at 7:41 am
I was wondering why the 13th episode is not online. I like the show and do not get a chance to watch it alot on Friday nights but always watch it online if I miss it. Thanks,Carl
May 20th, 2009 at 8:46 am
This is great news (about the second season)! I will be looking forward to Dollhouse’s return.
May 20th, 2009 at 9:37 am
I think that Fox is doing the right thing, these days shows don’t get enough time to grow and I think that Doll house can be a power house. Can’t wait for season 2
Thanx
May 20th, 2009 at 11:19 am
I will watch Dollhouse when it comes back but Firefly was a million times better and you guys suck for canceling that show. Dollhouse is interesting in it’s own way but it’s in no way good enough to make up for the loss of Firefly.
May 20th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Thanks for renewing this show. A Joss Whedon show has complex characters and takes a while to develop. I’m so glad that Fox saw the potential here and didn’t pull the plug too early, as the last few episodes of Season 1 were really riveting. I always knew that there would be more to Amy Acker’s character. Good job — sure wish you would have kept Sarah Connor as well.
May 20th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Yay! They are not making the same mistake again (Firefly was rad and I miss it) Dollhouse is a great show. Come on people spread the word, we need more viewers so they don’t cancel in the middle of next season!
May 20th, 2009 at 5:28 pm
I honestly loved the dollhouse. Me and my friends would get together every friday night to watch it. We are now full Dollies. : )
I really hope you dont cancel cause its one of my favorite TV series. If you put the series on DVD I would surely buy it!
May 20th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
I am so so glad that FOX is renewing Dollhouse. It’s the only show on the air I find worth watching at the moment. THANKS!
May 20th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
So very happy that Dollhouse is being renewed! Thanks Fox and Joss! My favorite slyness in Episode 12 was how Agent Ballard finally ’saved the girl.’ I can imagine some gleeful hand rubbing when that inspiration hit!
May 20th, 2009 at 7:45 pm
It always amazes me that people (Fox) seem to have vendettas squarely aligned at certain people (Joss).
To Fox I’s say back off…let the man do his show…and stop F*&!ing with it! And for god sakes AIR THE SEASON 1 FINALE!!
To Joss - not much else to say but keep kicking ass!!
May 20th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
Thank you so much. I love Dollhouse and I love Joss. My best friend and I screamed like little girls when we found out it was coming back.
May 21st, 2009 at 3:22 am
Thanks, FOX. Dollhouse is an amazing show, with great potential. I know that Joss will be able to flesh out the plot even more! Please do not repeat the Firefly mistake (which also had such great potential, but was cut short due to terrible marketing.) I can’t wait to watch more Dollhouse!
May 21st, 2009 at 6:35 am
Oh my goodness!!!! Thanks so much Fox, for sticking with Dollhouse! I heard the rumors about it being canceled, and I was devastated…I thought it was going to be Firefly all over again. So THANK YOU for not repeating your mistake.
May 21st, 2009 at 6:38 am
I loved Dollhouse Season #1… I’m so glad it’s not being cancelled!!!
May 21st, 2009 at 6:54 am
YES! I love dollhouse I’m so glad it’s coming back! I as so disappointed when I thought it was going to be canceled! can’t wait till it comes back!
May 21st, 2009 at 7:07 am
I love this series!!! It has tonnes of potential and verve and quirk! The character development and acting are compelling as are the underlying issues it presents. It’s marketable to a general audience because of the hotness and the intrigue, -and occasional explosions-, yet it’s interesting enough that I’ll put down my book, or work, or whatever; and stop everything and watch TV. Suddenly I know why I have Cable!
Well done!
May 21st, 2009 at 10:35 am
This is fantastic news! When I heard about this, I was so stoked. This truly made my day. Joss is an amazing creator and he deserves to keep making the great experiences that he develops through his style of story telling. FOX, you made a wise and great decision. Now only if we can get Firefly back on the signal. Either way, I’m super stoked.
DOLLHOUSE SEASON 2 BABY!!!
May 21st, 2009 at 12:38 pm
glad it got renewed and Fox was smart enough to let it build up some character.
May 21st, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Proper adult sci fi, reminds me a bit of Logan’s Run. The brilliant premise allows the writers to deal with things like, if you get what you want but its an illusion, will it really make you happy? If you fulfill someone’s desires are you doing them a favour? The characters are all wonderfully ambiguous, and the inventive plot keeps kicking up surprises. It even looks visually lush.
What Joss says about it is exactly right, it is at its best when its not an episodic, what will Echo be this week, but more of a bigger arc where mysteries are set, expanded on and revealed over many episodes. Like who was sending Ballard the messages? The NSA guy, Alpha, or someone else entirely (hoping its the last one…)
I’m very very glad Fox have decided to keep going with the series.
May 21st, 2009 at 1:11 pm
YEAH!!! i love joss whedon, and everything he does!
May 21st, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Thank You! I love Dollhouse and did not miss any episode! Cant wait to see what season 2 has in store for us! Thank you again for having such an amazing show and PLEASE dont cancel it ever!
May 21st, 2009 at 4:19 pm
I LUV “DOLLHOUSE” & I KNOW JOSS CAN BUILD ON THE FOUNDATION HE HAS STARTED IN SEASON 1 BUT I THOUGHT THERE WAS GOING TO BE A SEASON FINALE BUT TV.COM SAYS IT IS TBA. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON.
May 21st, 2009 at 5:57 pm
thank you, fox. i’ve watched all episodes, and hoped you’d bring it back!
May 21st, 2009 at 7:30 pm
This is the only show I have to see! Love it - THANKS
May 21st, 2009 at 9:10 pm
I admit, the show wasn’t what I thought it would be when I first heard of it. But I love Joss Whedon and so I chose to watch. Now I’m so glad I did. And getting Tahmoh was just a bonus (BSG rules!!). This concept is fascinating; it joins together the hypothesis that was explored with Matrix, Ultraviolet, and even BSG. The concept of humans being comprised of electrical impulses, and what it means to be human; and then being able to transfer and store that data…Science is exploring these questions in reality, so I’m interested to see Joss’s take on this and the moral/legal concerns technology like this could raise. He makes me think, and I like to think. Joss Whedon, you’re my hero!
May 22nd, 2009 at 12:38 pm
Once again FOX moves around a show like TSCC so that no one can find it and complains no one watches. Then they finally put it with dollhouse. Likely one of the reasons Dollhouse did better was the pairing. It was one of the only reasons I started watching it.
While I like Dollhouse, I too have reservations about watching a serial show that FOX will probably undeservedly can halfway through the season. Really it is a wonder anyone starts getting interested in a show anymore.
I will watch it but not with any vigor nor with any hope it won’t get canned as well.
May 22nd, 2009 at 12:50 pm
I’d like to add my thanks for renewing The Dollhouse. Along with Lie to Me, it’s a fresh, fun alternative to reality shows and the overabundance of crime shows. There is just not enough scifi on TV now that there’s a SciFi cable channel. Dollhouse is edgy, crazy, bizarre and totally entertaining. What I couldn’t understand, though, was how the Dollhouse bigwigs didn’t realize that being a slasher before he became a doll would affect Alpha’s behavior. Also, why don’t the slashed people get plastic surgery - in this day and age, that would be a cinch. (Call FX and ask the Nip/Tuck guys to deliver.) Anyway, thanks for renewing Dollhouse. (And also showing The Dead Zone on weekends.)
May 22nd, 2009 at 2:52 pm
I absolutely LOVE this show and am addicted to watching it. I can’t wait for the new season as I look forward to this all week. I am really picky on what shows I choose to watch and this is one of the few I’m dedicated to. I’m SO HAPPY to know it will continue.
Each episode has me gripped to the TV just waiting for the next twist.
THANK YOU for keeping this show running!
May 22nd, 2009 at 3:32 pm
Great show, really. Thanks. Firefly & Titus were good too! Looking forward to season 2.
May 22nd, 2009 at 5:16 pm
This show is A-mazing!!!! I’m so excited it’s on for another season since it’s one of the few shows on TV that I can stand watching anymore.
May 22nd, 2009 at 5:51 pm
So So SO GLAD that their will be aq season 2 I hope their will be many more seasons after that as well. I love this show as it filled a void from years back when another station cancelled my fav. show Charmed. so I was so glad to find a show that i can’t wait to see. It rocks! Keep it up. Anyone who doesn’t like it is just not smart enough to grasp the concept. Stop over anylising the show and enjoy it. As for Terminator I tried to watch it and just could not get into it. I’m sure it was a great show just not my style. LOVE DOLL HOUSE!!!!

I couldn’t be happier! Sorry I doubted you, FOX entertainment!
May 22nd, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Fantastic! I’m so pleased FOX is sticking with this series, it makes such a pleasant change that the ‘Powers that be’ actually see the potential rather than the brass tack figures. I sincerely hope this show goes from strength to strength.
I’ve been a huge fan of Joss’s work and it’s about time someone with such obvious talent should be given a second chance with what is such a provocative idea…. if only Firefly had been given the same opportunity.
May 22nd, 2009 at 8:22 pm
me and my husband love Dollhouse…it’s a great show!
May 23rd, 2009 at 2:32 am
I love DOLLHOUSE!!
I live in Ireland and find that international fans of the show have no standing when studios decide to cancel shows, please think about the foreign market both in channel and dvd sales. There are many, many viewers in a myriad of countries who love Joss’ work. This show needs an investment from the studio but also the viewer, it’s more of a slow burner but i cant wait to see how things develop over the next five years x
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:54 am
I absolutely love this show!!! Dollhouse is one of the better ones that they have come out with lately. Iam extremely happy that they did not cancel it!! P.S. can anyone tell me if episode 12 “omega” was the season finale????
May 23rd, 2009 at 6:57 am
Dollhouse is beyond a doubt one of the best tv shows ever! If the Dollhouse timeslot was on a monday or tuesday primetime slot it would be #1
May 23rd, 2009 at 7:20 am
I really like Dollhouse and I’m very glad that fox decided to keep it. It may not be the best show on tv right now–i think fringe and glee hold that title, but it’s still a great show that has some depth and i really appreciate that. I watch it every week and if i miss it, i’ll watch it online the next day. I think this is a great show and i really doubt that people who don’t like it have even watched it for any other reason than that they were too lazy to change the channel. great show, thanks!
May 23rd, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Rich your head is where the sun doesn’t shine and maybe it should stay there. Dollhouse is one of the few shows with original thinking and doesn’t follow any set format. It is a trail blazer. This show also gives Eliza a chance to show what a talented actress she is. Congratulations to Fox network for making the right decision.
May 23rd, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Great Job Guys! Thanks for having faith in Joss Whedon!
May 23rd, 2009 at 3:02 pm
joss whedon has done it again!he has created characters with depth and real personalities.not barbie dolls, flat and predictable. real people -sometimes you like them and sometimes you dont.doll houses story lines are multi faceted and quick paced-pure genius! anybody i have talked to that didnt like doll house didnt get it. they missed half the under currents and on going mysteries. when i filled them in and explained they couldnt wait to see the next weeks episode.i wait all week for this show. it is the only show i watch.i am so glad fox has decided to continue to provide a show that provides real entertainment and thought provoking concepts instead of the mind numbing dribble that is on. i finely turn my tv back on, something i havent done sinse buffy, angel and firefly were canceled.THANK YOU FOX- SMART MOVE AT LAST- THANK YOU JOSS WHEDON!
May 23rd, 2009 at 3:19 pm
We love Dollhouse. Eliza is an amazing actress, and quite beautiful. Why is it when there is a really great show, someone wants to pull it off the air (Tru Calling). Keep Dollhouse going guys.
May 23rd, 2009 at 5:01 pm
Ecstatic to hear the news that Dollhouse was picked up for season 2!
I watch only ONE HOUR of TV every week. Dollhouse.
May 23rd, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Oh my goodness it is sooo awesome that Dollhouse is going to keep going! It is LITERALLY the only show I watch, and I even had to watch the majority of it on the internet the first season. It’s a great show and kept me on my toes! I just hate waiting though! lol
May 23rd, 2009 at 8:05 pm
Thank you for renewing this show… I’ve started to come to believe if I found a show entertaining it would be immediately canceled. It’s nice to see a program that feels like it’s meant for an intelligent audience.
May 23rd, 2009 at 9:55 pm
PLEASE SELL TERMINATOR.
PLEASE SELL TERMINATOR.
PLEASE SELL TERMINATOR.
and no one cares about all the new trash shows.
May 24th, 2009 at 4:59 am
I’m glad Fox is keeping the show… I think this is a great decision and hopefully they won’t be disappointed.. Great show!
May 24th, 2009 at 5:19 am
I like Dollhouse, I’m glad it’s sticking around.
I don’t understand why people are punishing Joss & the Dollhouse cast and crew because Fox cancelled Terminator. Every heard the expression “cutting off your nose to spite your face”? You’ll be missing out.
Also, there’s a very good chance this show will be renewed when Joss shows the world what he’s got - again - with Season Two.
May 24th, 2009 at 10:39 am
I love Dollhouse. I especially love Eliza Dushku, which is what made me watch the show in the first place. I am glad that it is being kept on the air, Terminator sucked. It was boring and obviously not enough people watched it to keep it on air. When I tried watching it, I was bored to tears! Anyway, excited for new Dollhouse season! Eliza rocks!
May 24th, 2009 at 11:36 am
Let it be…
May 24th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Why bother watching any show on any network anymore? I don’t want to get into a new show, and only be able to watch it for a couple of years…then it gets canceled. Dollhouse was OK, but TSCC was a great SCFI drama. Everyone in my family watched it, and we were always left hanging on the edge of our seats waiting for the next episode. And while I’m added…STOP THE REALITY SHOWS. They were clever for the…90’s…but I’m tired of the same predictable results. I know you networks love them because they cost almost nothing to make, but they are OLD.
May 24th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Great show and I can’t wait till next season!
May 24th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
dollhouse sucks long live koth and tscc
May 24th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
Fox What are you doing??????? Doll House is one of the worst story lines Ever written and the show should have never seen the light of day. You bring this show back and cut Terminator. Fox needs to do a facor and hire me to run the network. Cut this show and bring back the Terminator!
May 25th, 2009 at 5:18 am
I LOOOOVED DH! I am s glad you’re not canceling it! can’t wait for the Fall season! See what else is in Joss Whedon’s brain for Echo! Keep it up guys!
May 25th, 2009 at 8:23 am
Love this show. Please keep it on the air and on hulu.com.
May 25th, 2009 at 10:17 am
I loved this show. I watch them all online over a weekend. I am very much looking forward to season two. My friend kept telling me that i had to watch it, i gave in and i am very glad i did. I have even been watching it on sci fi as well - saddo i am.
May 25th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
That’s fantastic. I was so worried that they would cancel it. I really need to know what happens next.
May 25th, 2009 at 8:25 pm
I LOVED THIS SHOW AND CAN’T WAIT 2 C HERE IN BRAZIL…. I HOPE THAT STILL ON AIR, CUS’ THEY ALWAYS TAKE OFF THE BEST AND LEAVE THE BADS, LIKE TRU CALLING, ELIZA IS AMAZING AND JOSS IS DOING A GREAT JOB
May 25th, 2009 at 8:38 pm
Why don’t you let us get to know the dolls a little each week like they did in Lost? We have only seen very brief clues as to who each of them were. Is there a common thread? Are there any dolls that have been released back into society? How are they doing? Do they have the option to erase the trauma in their lives? There was an imprint Echo had of a little girl all grown up with the best treatment. Would be a good way to blur the good vs. evil story line. Just some suggestions. I would really like to see the show stay and continue to evolve!
May 25th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
Sooo-oo relieved Dollhouse is coming back! This is my new favorite show and I look forward to watching it every week. This is the only show I watch at Fox, hope they have more like this series.
May 26th, 2009 at 5:38 am
Thank you so much for keeping this show around. After the Firefly debacle I was worried about another premature cancellation. Apparently someone around there remembered that Buffy and Angel really picked up during season two, once the characters and mythology were well established. I just wanted to thank you so much for giving it a chance.
May 26th, 2009 at 11:05 am
Thank you Fox, for sticking with Dollhouse, and its devoted fans. I can’t wait until next season. I know I’ll be watching every week.
May 26th, 2009 at 11:29 am
man SCREW DULLHOUSE…. the show is hot garbage…
bottom line… you shouldn’t have cancelled terminator…
you’ll just end up cancelling dollhouse at the end of its second season also.. just to replace it with some other worthless piece of garbage reality program. the fox network is a horrible network and doesn’t care about its viewers, only the money the draw in from short lived television programs…
it’s clear fox doesn’t know what their doing. this show will grow alright.. into a larger pile of feces on a hot sidewalk…
-never watching fox again thanks for cancelling my favorite show..
May 26th, 2009 at 11:32 am
This show rocked. Whedon is somekind of freaky evil genius.
May 26th, 2009 at 11:36 am
I thought TSCC was great
. BRING BACK TSCC!
May 26th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Keep up the great work!!!! I love how you weaved this season together. . . . . ignore the people who don’t know what a good show is! keep listening to the us the ones that come back week after week to watch this show. . . . its worth keeping on your network. . .
May 26th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
Way to listen to the fans! Dollhouse is a fantastically unique and creative show. I myself find the plot gripping… Thanks for keeping it around!
May 26th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
Great to hear that Dollhouse has been renewed.
Joss Whedon is a creative genius and these shows should be on the major networks, but Fox is (foxy) and keeps them in the Fox House! Congrats and looking forward to another spell-binding season of Dollhouse.
Mac
May 26th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
I never liked sara conner so I don’t care it got cancelled but I seriously would be very upset to see dollhouse go. I love it. And my son likes to watch it with me which just shows me that it appeals to many different viewers. I canlt wait to see it again.
May 26th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
I am SO GLAD they are picking up this show for a second season! Eliza is an incredible actress! This show is what I looked forward to every week.
May 26th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Joss, you rock my socks off. Seriously. Your mind is brilliant and I can’t wait to see what you continue to cook up. You had me hooked with Firefly and I’ll continue to follow your work…wherever you may go. Love Dollhouse. Glad you’re keeping it, Fox, and not making another HUGE mistake…like when you canceled FIREFLY…my favorite TV series EVER.
May 26th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
Its nice to for once have a show that doesn’t give you the whole story in the first few episodes. Im so glad they have renewed Dollhouse because I still have so many unanswered questions. As for TSCC no offense to any of the fans but in my opinion in wasn’t that good. I think its because to me there is only one Sarah Connor and thats Linda Hamilton, also the character died in 1997 to leukemia according to the movie but in the show the pilot episode is set in 1999. I guess I feel if you are going to make a series from a movie as big as the terminator series you should get it right. Like I said though its just my opinion.
May 26th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Huge Firefly fan looking for Joss fix. Like long plots that unravel slowly, moral grey areas, and thoughtful but enigmatic character development. Oh look at that! It’s DollHouse!
Love the show. Extremely dissapointed when I caught wind of impending doom but apparently I have nothing to fear. Fox, don’t be afraid to give us something we can have a think on.
May 26th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
I’m glad that Dollhouse will be staying with Fox!! I love the show and I cant wait for the second season.
May 26th, 2009 at 8:42 pm
Wow, this is the first time fox has not screwed up! Cancelling Firefly, no good
So glad that you guys are keeping Dollhouse around. It is a show that takes some time for the numbers to go up. I love the show and can’t wait to watch it all week. This and Sarah Connor Chronicles. Everything else you have on Fox is…well pretty weak. Don’t get rid of your most creative and engaging shows please. This is awesome news!!
May 26th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
Way to go, Joss! As an “older” (44) viewer I’ve enjoyed every single episode of Dollhouse. I can’t wait to see the what the new season has in store.
Good for you, Fox!
p.s. I was also a big fan (altho’ NOT in the target audience) of Buffy.
May 27th, 2009 at 5:28 am
I think it is fantastic that you guys have created this show!!!! I havent seen yet, but I am just really looking forward to watching it!!!!! You are the best and I love Eliza Dushku, so it’s the best combination! i am very pleased that season 2 is coming…
Tchau!
May 27th, 2009 at 7:32 am
We want THE DOLLS HOUSE SHOW to continue. It is so different from so many stupid cop shows out there. Sorry to say that but this show including FRINGE, ARE THE BEST ones on all channels. They are so unique really UNIQUE.
May 27th, 2009 at 9:38 am
Love the Dollhouse. I’m so glad that we will be able to have at least one more season. It reminds me so much of the first season of Buffy… and the criticism does as well. I’m hoping for a great, complex, long run for the show. After all, Echo still has years on her contract as an active.
May 27th, 2009 at 10:31 am
CANCELLING TERMINATOR SCC IS HEARTBREAKING I LOVED THAT SHOW ….NEVER MISSED AN EPISODE.BUT DOLLHOUSE NO WAY THAT SHOW IS BORING.
May 27th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
I am very excited about the return of Dollhouse. Fox is pretty much my main TV watching with House, Bones, Dollhouse and a few others. So, kudos to the network for sticking with it. Bones started slow, now look where it is!
May 27th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
I am so glad to see Fox backing a Whedon show! It is true that it was a bit slow starting out, but look at his other work. He tends to have first seasons that are a bit awkward and perhaps don’t quite live up to the potential that everyone was expecting. But then the second season starts and his creative genius hits its full stride. Dollhouse is currently the best show on Fox and I am very pleased to see that it will be back for another season
May 28th, 2009 at 1:04 am
Love the show glad it’s staying!!!
too bad about tscc.. doesn’t that show have it’s own page to sit and say why and all of that? Anyway Dollhouse good stuff since I am busy on Friday I do not believe that I have seen any of the episodes on TV.
Fox.com or hulu for all.. and I do not know if the neilson ratings have added a slot of internet viewing or not but it would seem that a lot of viewers watch online. Can not wait for the next season!
Thanks
May 28th, 2009 at 6:36 am
YAY, FOX! I love you guys and girls for giving Dollhouse another shot. =)
May 28th, 2009 at 7:27 am
LOve the show, but being on Friday nights is terrible. The Nielsen ratings were lacking, but the online ratings were high. If Fox moved Dollhouse to another night I think it would be far more successful.
May 28th, 2009 at 10:46 am
I really loved the Dollhouse. It was different. I rarely watch TV for just ME (watch some reality tv with the family). And this was the only show I have watched for almost 2 years. Of course, Eliza was the biggest draw but the show kept me. I loved that you didn’t just do the “and she’ll be a neurosurgeon next week”, that kept it exciting. There were even some unexpected surprises. And I have to admit, I really enjoyed seeing Tahmoh Penikett take his shirt off. I’m happy to hear FOX is giving it another try and I really hope the fanbase grows. I’ll be sure to tell everyone within earshot about the show. I’ll even give you props on my Facebook page. Good luck with it. Hope everyone who reads this has a Wonderful Day….Peace
May 28th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Finally Fox has figured it out! Joss Whedon is brilliant! Thank you Fox for giving him a chance. I love everything he writes and will follow him to any network. Glad to see that Fox isn’t being stupid and short sighted…for a change.
May 28th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
I’m really glad there’ll be another season!! Don’t listen to the people who don’t like it, stay true to the fans…
Can´t wait to see it!
May 28th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely loved the show and the constant huh? factor of it but what happened to the fun one-liners and quips that define Joss’ work? I mean obviously there aren’t as many chances for them as in Firefly but the thing that first drew me to Joss’ work was the entertainment within the drama. Dollhouse lacks that. I’ll be watching this winter but I hope Joss manages to get some of that verbal flair into this show as he did with all of the others.
May 28th, 2009 at 6:48 pm
I just got into this show and i am thrilled to be able to watch this show . I can’t wait for the next season!!! Best show by far on fox. I usually don’t watch fox’s shows, mostly abc’s shows but you have won me over and I am wanting more already!
May 28th, 2009 at 7:34 pm
Great! I’m glad they are giving Dollhouse another change, I do admit the first episdoes were a bit bland, but I do truly believe the show kept better as the characters developed. For those who say who won’t watch, don’t waste your time posting, too bad you would rather watch boring and/or copycat shows. Hopefully Dollhouse will have better ratings
Props to FOX
May 29th, 2009 at 1:30 am
At least FOX is smart this time & renewed Dollhouse. They made a BIG mistake last time by dropping Firefly. I plan on making the time to watch Dollhouse, it is one of my favorite shows to watch. This is a good show that has great script, keeps you entertained. I can’t wait to see it & wonder when the new season will start. Go Josh, Firefly may have a chance to be shown.
May 29th, 2009 at 2:39 am
Just wanted to show my appreciation for renewing the show, so a great big THANKS to the powers that be. Love the show! One of the best around. Huge fan.
May 29th, 2009 at 9:19 am
I am so happy to hear that this show was renewed. I am always very hesitant to get attached to any new shows with the recent history of everything smart, funny, and engaging being canceled while boring, redundant, predictable shows get renewed. But I took a chance with this one and luckily it has payed off, at least so far. I’m still a little nervous that Fox will do something stupid and pull it mid season, but hopefully they’ll be willing to show some faith in Joss and his amazing talent, and stick it out a bit longer. Unfortunately, there are too many people who just don’t “get it” who are very vocal about not liking this show, but for those of us who “get it”, this show is easily the highlight of the TV week. Thanks for giving it another chance!
May 29th, 2009 at 10:27 am
I started watching this show because I have always liked Eliza. I agree with the poster about the blurred line between good and evil. The whole season, I thought Paul really wanted to save her. But when he had his chance to let her go, he didn’t. So I’m really confused about his character’s true intentions now. I love how she is hanging onto a bit more of herself with every episode. And please, fix the doctor’s face. She’s a good character. But I have a hard time believing that there is nothing a plastic surgeon can do for those scars or Victor’s now for that matter. (And please don’t let that eye candy continue to be scarred.) My favourite quote from the show is Paul saying
“I really don’t believe you can erase a person’s soul.” It’s pretty much the theme, isn’t it.
Oh, and thanks for the little bit of comic relief too. The episode with Echo and the computer geek where Paul broke in was really funny.
May 29th, 2009 at 10:52 am
Thank you so much for renewing the Dollhouse, I watched every show not always on fox due to the time slot and it being on Fridays Nights. I watch it a lot times on Hulu.com because that is usually my night to go out. Its great show and I’m a big fan already. Eliza is great in it and someday I hope to meet her. Josh is brilliant and innovated just keep it up. Thanks Fox
May 29th, 2009 at 5:06 pm
I too am one of the people that wait all week to see this show, I love the doll house.
I am very excited its staying on the air!
Whoo Hoo
May 29th, 2009 at 9:39 pm
I’m glad the show is continuing - it is one of only two shows I consistently watch each week (the other is on another channel). I’m particularly glad Dollhouse is available on the web, because I don’t usually have time to view it on Friday night, in fact, might have missed it altogether if it weren’t for Fox.com.
I have one question… Why doesn’t the dollhouse have access to a plastic surgeon? Certainly, there must be a decent imprint available?
May 29th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
This show ROCKS! I was reading Steven Pinker’s (Harvard Professer) “Blank Slate” at the time this show started, and wow! did Joss do a wonderful job bringing this theory to life. As I continued through the book and learned that we’re all not blank slates, Joss continues to develop Echo and the rest of the gang, letting us know that you can’t just wipe memory away completely, some of it still remains either buried or hard-wired into us, also the Season Finale was awesome! Alan Tudyk is an awesome choice for Alpha. He appears very comical, but at the same time, he could be one of those guys you laugh with/at, and then the next, he’ll just slash you up, kinda like an Alpha. So, that was great casting. At first, I thought that Echo would get all the lime-light, and I was disappointed by the first couple of episodes, because it’s Echo this… Echo that… but then Sierra got some screen time, and to find out that Victor was actually a doll, and the other one too, wow! that was awesome! Now Paul Ballard is part of the doll-house and it’s a huge conglomerate all over the world, I want to definitely see more! I wonder if we’ll get to see how RELIGION plays a part, like what do the major religious organizations do to either combat/support the organization
hehe… I can’t wait!! Oh! FYI, I’m pretty poor and can’t afford good reception on my TV, so I stream Dollhouse every week. I get much better quality and I wanted to say Kudos! to the team that maintains the website, or else I wouldn’t even have seen any of the episodes. Thanks!!! Keep the show going!!
May 30th, 2009 at 10:38 am
I know this is a little late, but THANK YOU for renewing this show. It really started to develop at the end and I know several Friday night groups that make this show a must see after happy hour and before Friday partying.
Whedon’s shows have college course dicussions in both Psychology and Media Studies. You will be adding more viewers to your numbers. Even with the science fiction and whimsical elements, this show has the context of self-evalution and social dilemmas that relate to daily situations. Once and thank you for the renewal.
May 30th, 2009 at 12:44 pm
What a relief. After all the FOX meddling I was sure this was going to go down in flames, but at least I’ll get one more season before they kill it (or, knowing FOX, part of one more season). The Dollhouse is a great show. Leave Wheden alone and he’ll produce for you.
May 31st, 2009 at 1:34 am
This Show is the best show i have ever seen. please do not cancel it!
May 31st, 2009 at 2:28 pm
Yes! I’m sooo excited that Fox decided to continue the show. The characters are great and i want to see them more developed. Yes her pesonality changes each episode but the core character does not. I found no problem following the plot. More Dollhouse Please!
May 31st, 2009 at 11:39 pm
I’m so glad u decided to renew the show. i can’t wait to tell my sister. she is a huge fan.
May 31st, 2009 at 11:55 pm
i love dollhous……………
June 1st, 2009 at 7:10 am
I’m glad you kept Dollhouse!!! It was the only show I made sure to schedule in on my TV watching. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
June 1st, 2009 at 1:38 pm
I have to admit, I was confused throughout the season trying to figure it out but I did stick with the show. Glad it’s coming back. Funny, when I watch the first season’s of Buffy and Angel, I really think they’re lame. I always enjoy watching the rerun of the last season of Angel. Especially the episodes where Fred dies and the one where Harmony gets set up by the jealous vampire secretary. They rocked! Let’s see where Josh can take DollHouse.
June 2nd, 2009 at 3:04 pm
I love this show soo much. Please air thelast episode & don’t pull the plug! It’s my friday night drug! I have to have it! XP
June 3rd, 2009 at 2:41 pm
So excited Dollhouse is back! Seriously CANNOT WAIT for the new season to start! I’m addicted.
June 4th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
I really like this show and I’m very glad that it was picked up for another season. It was the only show that I actually made time for to watch.
June 5th, 2009 at 6:18 am
I am very pleased to see Dollhouse coming back for season 2. Fox finally made a right choice by doing that. I just hope that Fox does not pull a bait and switch like they did with Dark Angel with Jessica Alba. There was suppose to be a season 3 of that and at the last minute right after they said they were going to do it, they cancled it. So I am glad to hear of a season 2 for dollhouse but won’t hold my breath until i actually see it on TV.
As far as The terminator meh I found much better things to do with my time then watch that show, it was boring and glad it was off the air. Dollhouse was the only reason i watched fox on a friday night instead of doing other things.
Season 2 better have more plot twists and turns in it to keep fox interested so Joss hope you can come up with some creative ideas for this.
June 5th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
I love the show and I look forward to seeing it every Friday night. But lately it hasn’t been on…I was wondering why? I don’t believe it was near the end of the season or anything, maybe it was and i was too excited to notice and this show is addicting to watch! I got into other shows like this one like “Buffy”. Please put it back on the air if you were planning to hold it. I miss watching the show!
June 6th, 2009 at 5:49 pm
Eh… I only watched because it was on after Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I liked FireFly and Serenity, but Dollhouse itself isn’t worth tuning into itself. I guess I’m not going to be watching much TV any more. Lost only has another half season left (lets face it, last season was a half season, and this one is set to be the same length), Death Note ended, and Terminator has been canceled. It seems like all of the good shows are either over, or going to be soon.
June 7th, 2009 at 5:17 am
great show! it´s not on german tv for now, but i´m sure it will be soon. first i was confused, when i saw the trailer, becouse we have a dollhouse in hamburg, germany (it´s a strip club with male and female strippers) so i had a picture in my head, but in the moment i read, that joss and eliza made this, i had to watch it. and i really enjoyed it!
will the (real) first episode and the 13th be at the dvd? hope so…
in season 2 i´ll hope to see more about alpha and the people behind the dollhouse. if i had a free wish, i want to see claudia black for that role
June 8th, 2009 at 9:42 am
I absolutely LOVED this show!! What a shame if it gets cancelled! I DVRd it every friday and come Saturday morning I was dying to wake up and watch it!!
June 8th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Thank you Joss so much for the amazing ride that is Dollhouse, and thank you Fox for allowing us the chance to keep riding it. Now, let’s talk Firefly revival……
June 8th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Oh, and why is the last episode not available for streaming?

I was hooked from the initial trailer. It’s intriguing, inventive and just plain fun to watch. I wish that the downers would keep their opinions to themselves. by going onto the dollhouse website, there has to be interest. Eliza and the rest of the ensemble performed wonderfully and I look forward to the new season!
June 8th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
Thank you for renewing Dollhouse. It’s been a long time since I looked forward so much to watching a TV show. I can’t wait for season 2.
June 9th, 2009 at 3:47 am
Love the show! Love everything Joss Whedon puts out. Big fan. I think it will make it because I have to work when it is on and I don’t have TIVO or anything like that, so I have to catch it on HULU! It is always in the popular shows to watch area. So, obviously there are many fans of the show. Remember, not all of us get to watch on your time slots, but it is still getting watched.
June 9th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
I was very happy to see that Dollhouse was kept. I love Joss’s work i think he is brilliant and I love love love Eliza I think she is great. And I was very happy to see that Joss pulled in Amy as well (huge Buffy and Angel fan here). To the rest of the cast I do not know all of you as much but so far I’m impressed keep up the great work see ya next season!!!!!!!!!
June 9th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
Thanks for bringing Dollhouse back! It was one of my favorite shows in the last season of shows, and I am so glad that Fox isn’t giving it the boot.
Good call Fox!!
June 9th, 2009 at 5:46 pm
Thank you for picking up another season of Dollhouse. If both Terminator and Dollhouse had been dropped, I may have boycotted the network. Now, at least, maybe Summer Glau will get an offer to work some more with Whedon. Fingers crossed.
June 10th, 2009 at 2:37 am
I am so glad this was brought back. Joss is a genius and I think in the past his shows, such as firefly, did not get enough time to develop as they should have. I am glad dollhouse will not be canceled before it really gets a chance to show what it can do. Nice decision Fox, props to you!!!
June 11th, 2009 at 12:07 am
I started reading all the comments (but far too many to read them all) but of what I did read was mixed reaction to the news that the folks at FOX have chosen between Dollhouse and TSCC. And while I was a fan of both shows, I’ll miss TSCC (and still hope for some repreve perhaps through overwhelming DVD sales). Having said that, I don’t think I would have missed Dollhouse.
Somehow I got the feeling that the choice had more to do with FOX’s previous decisions to cancel Joss Whedon’s Firefly - which I didn’t watch until after the fact, but now own on DVD and Tru Calling, which starred Eliza Dushku. I don’t know if both shows aired on FOX (Firefly DVD says Twentith Century Fox Television) and Tru Calling was FOX (according to tv.com). What I do know is I enjoyed both and felt they were cut short just when things got interesting. I don’t know what shows were kept or replaced them, so I can’t speak to that.
The way I see it: Firefly - Cancelled 13 episodes in- bad choice; Tru Calling - Cancelled 6 episodes into second season - bad choice. TSCC - cancelled at the end of second season - bad choice. Keeping Dollhouse to make up for the first 2: Gee, I hope it works out for FOX, but I don’t expect to watch.

Thanks for keeping the show….Loved it! We look forward to seeing it every week and we also downloaded all the episodes on iTunes.
June 11th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
I’m SO EXCITED to see Dollhouse return!!! I can’t wait for the new season. It’s just so compelling, interesting, intricate, complex….oh, I just love it! I find myself seriously concerned for the characters and worried about their well being. I’m thrilled!
June 11th, 2009 at 7:57 pm
I LOVE this show. Me and my friends almost always watch different shows but the one we all watch, regardless, is Dollhouse. :)… don’t cancel ANOTHER good show…
June 12th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
All……
They made a big mistake with Firefly, at least FOX made the right choice this time. I can hardly wait for the new Dollhouse season to begin. Maybe FOX will wise up and bring Firefly back. Thanks FOX for renewing Dollhouse, if you didn’t I would have boycott your station.
June 13th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
I loved the show and can’t wait for season 2 (if there is going to be one) my friends and i would stay home on Fridays to watch it then go out once it was over so lets hope for a season 2…Can’t Wait!!! biggest fan ever
June 13th, 2009 at 10:51 pm
It’s amazing, Fox news fails completely (what with being a propaganda organ and all,) and yet Fox keeps some fabulous shows on the air. How bizarre.
June 14th, 2009 at 6:01 am
I was pleasantly surprised that Dollhouse is returning although TSCC is now gone. Fox has a track record of canceling shows before giving them a chance to get an audience (ex. Firefly). I’m confused why Fox bothers with science fiction. Science fiction has a limited audience to begin with. Knowing that, they put on these shows expecting them to be instant hits, get upset that they’re not, and cancel them after one season. Joss, please go with cable channels like SciFi (soon to be SyFy). Let’s face it, if Battlestar Galactica had been on Fox, it too would have been canceled after one season!
June 14th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
I don’t watch many television shows as there aren’t a lot of things worth viewing these days but just discovered Dollhouse (yes, where have I been??) and instantly loved it! I bought the first 7 episodes on Amazon.com. This is the first time I felt it was worth paying for episodes. I am anxious to see more!!
June 14th, 2009 at 8:23 pm

June 15th, 2009 at 2:28 am
Hi Fox,
Dollhouse alone , without T:scc , is a little child, for now.
Will it be able to walk on its legs?
I was used to follow your programs cause of Tscc…right now, after its cancellation, all became harder !
Anyhow, i will try to discover this show’s heart and follow it.
But, without Tscc, all seems more black than white.
i know, it’s the business. But you know, it’s the heart
June 15th, 2009 at 8:32 am
Tried to watch Dollhouse for the first few eps, but couldn’t quite get into it. With FOXs lack of marketing and a horrible Friday night time slot, I expect the Dollhouse fans to be joining the SCC fans in the cancellation slot come the end of the year. Hope it at least doesn’t end on a massive cliffhanger like SCC, but I would expect nothing less from the FOX exec dodos.
June 15th, 2009 at 10:41 am
Here’s to John Henry teabagging Victor (the real one)
June 16th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
love the show very much and i cant wait to see the new episodes
June 17th, 2009 at 8:47 am
I’m a fan of Joss Whedon, however Firefly was about 10,000 times better than Dollhouse, strictly from a depth of character perspective. All of the characters on Firefly had depth and were interesting. On Dollhouse, they are all some kind of stereotype.
T:SCC was also about 10,000 times better than Dollhouse, for pretty much the same reason.
I guess Dollhouse is better than nothing, but if I was running Fox I would bring back T:SCC and Firefly.
June 18th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
Horraayyy!!! Since the very first episode Dollhouse has become my new favorite show & im so glad its coming back! For some reason all my favorite shows are on the fox network. Dollhouse, House M.D., Sarah Connor Chronicles too. I cant wait for fall & all the good shows to be back on. Dollhouse is awesome i love the twists, interesting characters & the plot. Eliza is sexy & adorable & i hope the show goes for a lot of seasons!
June 18th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
this is the best show around since alias. there is intrigue, suspense, and just all out entertainment. the idea behind this show is brilliant. and for everyone who posted a negative comment, the show could not have been that bad because you clearly watched it. KEEP THIS ON!!!!
June 19th, 2009 at 11:15 am
I think Dollhouse is the best show that EVER aired. I am a NUMBER 1 Dollhouse fan! I can’t wait to see what season two will be like and I have complete faith that it will continue for more seasons. I like Joss because of his work and I like Eliza Dushku because she’s hot and a good actress.
June 19th, 2009 at 7:37 pm
Joss Whedon, my favorite creator of all things television, granted dollhouse not as good as his previous creations (yet) I believe it is all build up to something that is all time besides what sane person doesn’t want Amy Ackerman and Eliza Dushku kicking ass?
June 20th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
I am so happy that Dollhouse isn’t being cancelled. This is definitely a good choice! I love this show and will get several others to get addicted to it this upcoming season. Thank you so much!
June 23rd, 2009 at 10:51 am
Thank you so much for renewing Dollhouse, it airs every tuesday on sci-fi here in the uk and its got me hooked, its a refeshing show with some fine storylines and acting. Looking forward to season two and hopefully beyond.
June 23rd, 2009 at 5:39 pm
Are you kidding? Really?
Goodbye FOX, without T:TSSC I will not even watch Fringe, which I love.
I hope your fall season miserably fails.
June 24th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Wow i love Dollhouse its just come over to the uk and i am hooked i watch it every week without fail. Dollhouse is a great show a lot of very subtle twists and misdirection which makes you guessing and talking about it. and i especially like eps 12 i love the twist init i am so glas that you have decieded to recreat season 2 u rock joss keep up the good work ps stayed up loads hours to catch up but will still be watching every week from the uk
June 24th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
i agree with aaron and i will get my friends into it i normally do when i watch a good program and once again (4got to say in last post) THANK YOU FOX 4 RENEWING DOLLHOUSE
June 28th, 2009 at 9:42 am
I loved Dollhouse! Thank you so much for keeping the show alive!
July 1st, 2009 at 12:58 am
Thank goodness you are keeping Dollhouse, brilliant show as always is that comes out of Joss Wedon’s mind! Only wish he could bring Firefly back as a series or do another movie, those characters are great! Shame Wash and Book got killed off in the movie!!
Keep Dollhouse - I watch it on Fox 8 in Australia
July 1st, 2009 at 10:57 am
I am writing from Puerto Rico.I am very glad that you are keeping Dollhouse and I love the whole conspiracy spin. I do hope that it would not be canceled before we get all the answer like it happened with Tru calling. It is going to get harder to start watching this type of shows on Fox if you keep canceling them without giving us an ending!!! By the way it is never to late to make a movie ending the series True calling.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:42 pm
This is a stupid show. I hate it. They should of kept Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles. But no Fox i just stupid and think what they are going is best hahahaha. Overpaid idiots.
July 3rd, 2009 at 1:46 am
I watched every episode, recording those that might be missed. The last several episodes were extremely satisfying! Focusing on the dolls beginning to remember, and piece together what was happening to them, was real “don’t miss TV.” I am very happy with the direction the show is being taken, and look forward to seeing every single episode of Season 2. Thanks Fox, for bringing Dollhouse back. I watch Fox/Dollhouse on DISH Satellite.
July 7th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Thnx for not cancelling dollhouse its such a good show and i can’t wait to see what happens in season 2. Me and my friends sat down every friday just to watch dollhouse and we’re hoping to do the same for the next season. Thnx u Fox and Joss Whedon for this show!
July 7th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Fox, thank you for renewing Dollhouse. It’s worth it.
July 9th, 2009 at 9:35 am
Soooo, happy you guys are staying on the air.. I have been watching your work Joss, since Buffy, Angel, and know the Dollhouse. You are amazing with your work. They said the other shows wouldn’t work? They where wrong then and will be wrong know…
July 10th, 2009 at 10:12 am
I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE SEASON 2!! GREAT SHOW! THANKS FOX FOR RENEWING DOLLHOUSE!!
July 10th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
No doubt the wizards at Fox will move Dollhouse into the fatal early Friday timeslot.
July 10th, 2009 at 4:31 pm
Can’t wait for the second season of Dollhouse!!!
July 14th, 2009 at 1:18 am
Whew!! I didn’t even know there were worries about the dollhouse being retained! Can’t believe the killer shows are canceled or endangered, and the moronic shows always keep on chuggin.
Good job FOX to see the diamond amongst the chaff… There is something weirdly appealing in the Dollhouse. Too bad you didn’t follow thru on Firefly too.
Alpha is excellent! So twisted and delightful - was quite surprised by him! Keep him coming Joss…
July 14th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
YAY FOX for keeping dollhouse! And for canceling T:SCC It sucked. I will, however miss Summer Glau. Maybe she could end up being one of the recurring actives on dollhouse? Joss does love to use the same actors! [Alpha/Wash, Echo/Faith, Whiskey (a.k.a. Dr.Saunders)/Fred . . . I know I’m not the only one who notices this . . .] But, FOX, BOO for not showing the 13th episode. You could at least hook us up on hulu or something. I don’t want to have to find the torrent. Geez guys. And don’t pull any of that Tru Calling: sorry we’re canceled, wait we’re back for one episode, sorry gone again BS. Eliza is severely underrated as it is!
July 14th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
I LOVE THIS SHOW AND SO DOES MY FAMILY. WE HAVE WATCHED IT EVERY TIME IT ‘S BEEN ON BUT THEN THE NETWORKS GO AND DO SOMETHING STUPID AND WE’RE STUCK WITH THE SAME OLD CRAP. ELIZA DUSHKU IS GREAT AND SO IS JOSS. KEEP IT ON THE AIR!
July 16th, 2009 at 11:02 am
Great show!!! Really love it! Can’t wait to watch more!
July 17th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
I am glad Dollhouse is returning. The only thing missing from it this year was the Wheedonesque sense of humor.
Irony, writing with word play, and humor were the common thread of Joss’ other series.
Best of luck.
July 17th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
This was the best new show on television. I am glad that it is returning. This is just what television needed!! Eliza is great!! I can’t wait until it returns!!
July 17th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Thank-you, Thank-you, THANK-YOU!!!!
Dollhouse is the only show on TV I watch. Bring on seasons Two and I pray THREE+++
Just say NO! to the same old format crap. Keep things moving, interesting, and never become like the other net-works that are nothing but the same junk over and over…
July 20th, 2009 at 11:43 am
I love Dollhouse. I’m glad they’re going to be pacing it better because I did feel like too many secrets were revealed in the first season. Too many secret dolls were revealed all at once. I can’t wait to see where they take it and I can’t wait to watch more!!!!! It’s also great to see some of the awesome actors from Buffy and Angel and Firefly.
July 23rd, 2009 at 9:52 am
So glad this show was renewed! Truly the only show I have ever felt a dedication to and wouldn’t miss a week of. Wouldn’t mind a different time slot though…
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:44 pm
Dollhouse is the best show on T.V! It’s Raw,Original and best of all SEXY! I’m VERY excited about season 2!!!! Can’t wait what your great minds will think of for season 2 and hopefully 3 and so on!!!
all i can say is you can count on me and a bunch of my friends/family to keep watching and boosting ratings! and lets not forget buying the wonderful Blu-Ray boxed sets! which also made my day when i herd the news.
take care!
July 24th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Love the show! I’m thrilled it will be back for season 2!!!!! This was a good choice by the executives in charge!!!!!
July 27th, 2009 at 7:23 am
I just finished watching the unaired pilot of dollhouse. It was infinitely better than the one you chose to air. Fox - you suck. LONG LIVE WHEDON, DOLLHOUSE and FIREFLY. Oh, wait scratch that last one >;(
July 27th, 2009 at 7:27 am
Episode 13 (what I saw of it) kicked ass too. You Fox executives must have the IQ of a rock
July 27th, 2009 at 10:31 am
You T:SCC idiots need to comment on the correct posting. This is about Dollhouse, not your crappy Terminator show (which thank god was cancelled). If Dollhouse fails in the second season, so be it, but T:SCC had 2 seasons to make something of itself and it failed, so at least give Dollhouse the same benefit and quit whining like a bunch of babies.
July 27th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
it’s so awesome that this show is returning….i luv it!! it’s about time a unique show stays on tv. brillant story lines w/ an on going back story, characters that kick ass (especially eliza dushku), and the acting is great. i was bummed when i heard it was going to be canceled, but cheers to fox for realizing this show should stay. unfortunately, this should have been realized w/ tru calling as well….but alas, u have redeemed urselves by keeping this show on tv.
July 28th, 2009 at 12:33 pm
This was the only show I looked forward to watching each week.
July 30th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
I LOVE THIS SHOW!! Thanks for bringing it back I got scared at the end of the season when it stopped coming on. If you ever run out of ideas holla I got plenty for them to get into…
July 31st, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Okay, I’m confused. So it’s not cancelled, but most of the people who posted are talking like it is…
And they’re not going to air episode 13? Or they are? On IMDB it says that the air date was July 28th, but it doesn’t seem like it was, seems maybe they’re saying that cuz that’s the day the DVD set comes out and it’s on that?
So cancelled or not?
August 1st, 2009 at 8:53 am
Good on ya. Didn’t watch during the season. Didn’t know it was Mr. Whedon’s baby and I’ll watch anything he does till he disabuses me of that notion. Watched (devoured) the whole season once it came out on DVD. Looking forward to more.
August 2nd, 2009 at 10:53 pm
I LOVE Dollhouse, it’s the one show I looked forward to every week. Please don’t cancel it… I’m begging.
August 2nd, 2009 at 10:54 pm
p.s. …… shoulder to the wheel. make it work.
August 3rd, 2009 at 12:29 am
I absolutely love the show! I rented it randomly from family video one day and i watched every episode in 2 days.
I must say i am very glad episode 13 was never aired though… it had zero purpose and really just served to confuse me to no end.
Really glad they are making a second season cuz with the way it ended there has to be more.
August 3rd, 2009 at 5:03 pm
I’m glad the show is returning for a second season. True, it started off slow, but it really started to draw me in the second half of the season.
The only thing truly wrong with this show is the name. It’s a good thing they advertised the heck out of it during T:SCC or I never would have given a show called ‘Dollhouse’ a chance. I mean seriously, I’ve thought about discussing the show with friends, but, what self-respecting guy is going to admit to his pals that he’s watching a program called ‘Dollhouse’. Obviously, no one test-marketed the name of the show with the targeted male audience.
Maybe, starting with the second season, they will wise up and start calling the show ‘Echo’ or ‘Active’.
SC
August 4th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
Fox thank you for listening when it comes to Dollhouse. However your treatment of other fine shows is disrespectfull to your viewers and wrtiers. Stories should have an ending and if you decide to cancel a show atleast add one show to end it.
TSCC and Jericho are just 2 examples of shows you could have ended properly but instead you just dropped them.
You can and should do better!!! Especially if you want to keep your viewing audience.
August 4th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
It’s the best show I’ve seen on fox since the FBI stopped looking for aliens! Joss still knows how to please his audience. Thank you for giving season 2 a chance. I’ve already requested off work for the season premiere on september 25th! Mark your calendars my fellow Whedon freaks.
August 4th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
So so so glad Dollhouse is coming back!! I’ve loved Eliza since Buffy back in my high school days and she does really well in the roll of Echo… thanks FOX!
August 5th, 2009 at 4:14 pm
I am infatuated with this show, very bold, cutting edge, brilliant. Gotten many interested with the first show. We’ll all be watching for Whedon’s next glorious season.
August 6th, 2009 at 2:48 am
Have been watching dollhouse in the UK on staalite and have been loving it - still got the last episode to watch next week.
Absolutly love it - the whole idea of it is so sinister - it’s rare to have such thought provoking television. Thaank you for keeping it going.
August 27th, 2009 at 5:29 pm
I missed the beginning of the season so waited until the DVDs were released and was immediately hooked! Great plot, interesting characters, plenty of action, intrigue, and surprises during the season. The season finale left me a little bummed though…I’m not sure how the show can proceed now that we’ve seen the future. But I’m sure Mr. Whedon and Co. will come up with something. I’m ready to add the new season to my DVR programming list!
