  1. Anna Says:

Wow, so you are premiering Dollhouse in Friday night death slot, you must really hate that show, don’t you?

  2. River Says:

Actually, I think Friday is a great night for my fav show on TV (Terminator). It’ll be great to follow that with Dollhouse. Whatever you do, don’t put these shows in the same timeslot as Lost. :P

  3. b!X Says:

Now, if you air some ads saying, “Looking for something to watch before switching to SciFi for the final season of Battlestar Galactica?” maybe this will go smooth.

  4. Loren Says:

It’s kinda like “fool me once…” = Firefly. “Fool me twice…” = Dollhouse. I just don’t understand how the suits can’t figure out a way to promote these shows. Maybe we all need to band together and donate to start the JossNetwork — where he can keep honing awesome stuff like Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, the new adventures of Firefly, and Dollhouse.

Fox, I know “it’s just business,” but please at least try and do something to promote Joss’ show; I believe that’s your end of the deal. We know Joss will keep his end: turning in the best television show currently on air.

    Thanks for listening.

  5. Scott Says:

Are you kidding me with the Friday timeslot for DOLLHOUSE?!?! Seriously…. thanks a bunch Fox. Thanks for kicking this show in the ass once again. What ever happened to this network’s “new management” and their effort to appreciate, nurture, and give it their all with this show?

I just DO NOT UNDERSTAND! Why not place one of your crappy (and cheap to produce) reality shows in your lacking Friday slots and place your new quality shows during the week?

Honestly, are you kidding me with this?? You better give this show an automatic second season renewal and a guaranteed new timeslot or something. This is just embarrassing.

  6. Just a Little Angry Says:

Moving Dollhouse to Friday night deathslot?

    Stay classy Fox.

  7. Dexter Says:

    What about PRISON BREAK?

  8. fanshawe Says:

Heh, nothing spells out lack of cojones than moving the only two shows with real arcs to the Friday deathslot.

And why oh why favour Fringe over Sarah Connor and Dollhouse? It’s such genre-abusing nonsense with no meaning or purpose…

  9. Linda Says:

I’m really looking forward to ‘Lie To Me’. Tim Roth is a great actor and the promos looks really good. Also a great timeslot for the show. I’ll be watching!!!

  10. Kamila Says:

Please, please think of what you are doing with Dollhouse!!!!

  11. Ricardo Says:

    AHAHAHAHAH!

Dollhouse on Friday? I seriously hate you right now guys. I mean REALLY hate you.

Why don’t you put there your stupid sitcoms?

  12. b!X Says:

Skipping the Friday thing for a moment to focus on the February thing: You’ve just given the fans an entire other month to chatter about what is or is not going on with the production.

All things considered, I’m not sure that’s a good idea.

This might be a good opportunity for FOX to take someone’s earlier suggestion, and put the first episode out online before the February 13 premier date, so there’s something to buzz about other than “WTF is happening?”

At this point, I’d argue the only way out of the trap of growing “WTF” buzz is transparency: Let us see the first episode and talk about the work itself, not the production questions.

  13. Dollhouse estreia… sexta-feira 13! « Hotvnews Says:

[…] Se alguém aqui é fã de Whedon, e está tão desagradado com esta notícia como eu, tenho um conselho: descarreguem a vossa raiva no blog da FOX. A sério, é muito terapêutico. Aqui fica o link. […]

  14. Meghan Says:

…Athough theres nothing on on fridays to distract anyone from watching Dollhouse, and dollhouse and Terminator wont have to compete with Gossip girl, Chuck, How i met your mother, etc anymore; I can’t see this being a good thing. Pairing two sci fi shows together, especially ones with whedon world actors, is a good idea. And even the fact that the younger generation will watch a 9 oclock show on a friday, since its the weekend and they can sleep in, is cool. However, the rest of the population doesn’t seem to want to watch tv on a friday, since all shows seem to die on this death slot some reason. So yeah, I’m so looking foward to dollhouse, but it’s apparently screwed. But no matter how angry I am, I can deal with the Friday switch and the 8 to 9pm switch. What I can’t deal with is the fact you pushed it to february, making me want to kill someone. And you have the nerve to air it on Friday the 13th! It’s like you want it to have bad luck. And it better not be moved further away, like Feb 20, cause then I’m done. I mean Jesus, now we only get a 13 episode season, I wanted at least 18 episodes if not 21. This sucks.

  15. b!X Says:

I have to add that this really does, to some extent, demonstrate that while FOX might want to exploit the fandom (for example, to make the fans build the official website without any sort of compensation for doing so), they really don’t seem to actually understand fandom.

Anyone inside FOX’s PR department who actually understood such things would have noticed right away that moving the show to Fridays was going to freak out the fans, since it’s a long-established graveyard for genre shows.

Anyone who actually understood PR in the age of an Internet-connected fandom would have gotten out in front of that somehow. FOX failed completely to do so.

(And, honestly, there’s some buzz out there as well that people actually working on the show found out about this delay/move via fansites, rather than being informed by FOX itself. Honestly, just how badly did you want to bungle this?)

Whatever else any of this does or does not mean for the show, it’s certainly re-proved to me that while FOX is trying to use Internet fandom, it certainly doesn’t understand it in the least.

[…] Broadcasting has finally announced the premiere date of the Joss Whedon - Eliza Dushku action series “Dollhouse.” Friday February 15th will […]

  17. Jerome R Says:

Ok, I know Friday seems like a deadend! But CBS is doing pretty good with Numbers. Oh have we forgotten that FOX owned Friday night for years with the X-Files. The downside to this is Fox can’t seem to stick with anything. House and Bones have done well. But all this moving around will hurt in the end. American Idol would have been a great lead in. They should have done a two part show.

The first show would air after idol, then a hot part two would follow on Friday. ABC did this with Grey’s Anth. They aired a show after the Superbowl and then had us to comeback two days later for the part 2. And what happened to the Cleveland Show? The spinoff of the Family Guy.

  18. BillTomson Says:

WHY oh WHY is this being put on Friday nights? Because Fox & Joss’s LAST sci-fi attempt did so well on Fridays?

Come on FOX. Give the show a better chance than this. PLEASE.

  19. cabri Says:

I love that you’re putting “T:TSCC” and “Dollhouse” together. Reserving judgment on their date/time slots.

  20. Ben Says:

Wow.. what to say. My initial gut reactions include anger, disappointment, betrayal.. all towards FOX. I’m trying to think positively. I’m thinking maybe FOX sees this as building a genre night for themselves. Maybe it is a smart, yet risky move on their part. But then I can’t help but think of FOX’s past and it makes me depressed. Firefly.. even Tru Calling, great shows.. Firefly more so obviously. FOX has no faith in creative work. They are a business though and they do have to concern themselves with making money, I get that. But perhaps FOX should move their business to creating microwaves or weed whackers, something that fits their talents a little more… something that doesn’t matter. FOX, if you are going to be in the business of television shows, don’t you think you should concern yourself with creativity.. Joss has got it in spades, perhaps you should listen to your creators/artists and not your wallet. I’m going to try to remain open to your graveyard move. I hope with all my heart that this is a move that turns out well for you. But if it doesn’t and Mr. Whedon comes out and says that you fuc#%$ it up again… expect lots of protest from us loyal Whedon fans. We aim to misbehave.

  21. Creid Says:

It’s bad enough to delay the show further and replace it with Lie to Me, but to put it on friday as well?

Thanks to you guys, buzz is so negative for Dollhouse and nobody has even seen it.

  22. Clem Says:

Since I don’t have a TV, I’ll be watching on the website as I do with the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Hopefully, the Friday time slot will have a less of an effect on the success of the show. Best of luck to Joss!

  23. dzr Says:

    Virtuality?

Was the pilot not picked up? Or has it been shunted to Autumn 2009?

  24. Erin Rogers Says:

Joss Whedon fans already kinda hate FOX. Don’t give us any reason to hate you more.

Friday night is a terrible slot. People tend to GO PLACES Friday night. PLEASE PLEASE give this show a chance and air it at a different time! Give it the respect it deserves.

  25. BigHec Says:

Grow up Kids. What’s this talk of Friday night deathslot. Get Tivo. Time slots don’t mean anything in the new millenium.

  26. John Says:

Fox assumes that sci fi geeks don’t go out and party on Friday nights. Why shouldn’t they assume this? Sci fi channel shows like the Stargates, Battlestar and Flash Gordon have done fine on Friday nights and The X-files had huge numbers on friday night for years. The problem is that FOX doesn’t really understand sci fi and the fact that all sci fi isn’t the same. Generic, mood-driven sci fi with no real philosophy can do fine on Friday night. But they forget that real, cutting-edge, meaningful sci fi like Firefly or the original Star Trek need to be nurtured and cultivated and given time to fully realize their potential. Remember, only fan outrage gave Star Trek a second and third season. The suits wanted to pull the plug on it immediately. Joss Wedon is an icon and therefore only network money can afford him, but networks will never treat his shows the way they need to be treated. Sci fi channel would treat his shows right, but alas they can’t afford him. Such is the paradox of Fanboy vs. Network Television.

  27. R.G. Says:

Bones & House have been on 3 different nights since the summer…I’m not interested in BONES - but I like HOUSE…I don’t watch HOUSE anymore because FOX won’t “SIT STILL” with their shows…they need to be prepared in SEPT. and looking ahead to American Idol season so the don’t build an audience and make them move to new nights again & again and again…

As for SARAH & Company…I will tape it with DOLLHOUSE and watch it that way…as for FRINGE - It’s like X-FILES without the aliens…it’s all government related - typical and too gross at times…

The ratings are not doing well - but SARAH will still have to take on the GHOST WHISPERER - which I believe is the most watched show on FRIDAY NIGHTS on ANY channel

  28. Ryan Says:

I am really looking forward to watching dollhouse. Everything that joss whedon does is amazing, so this is going to be great. I am not so sure about the whole friday thing though. That means i have to tape it

  29. Anna Says:

An idiotic, drivel-based show like Fringe gets a fall premier and a solid weeknight slot, but Dollhouse gets the 9:00pm Friday graveyard slot? Fox executives must somehow want the show to fail.

I’m a devoted Whedon fan (bordering on obsessive when it comes to Buffy and Angel) and I’m excited for Dollhouse, but I won’t stay in on a Friday night just to watch t.v., even for Whedon. I can’t imagine that viewers not already impressed by Whedon’s writing will either.

Give the show a decent chance, Fox.

  30. Okay Says:

This is going to be interesting to see how this all turns out. TSCC and Dollhouse on a Firday night. No matter what I’m going to see them both. With food pricing and everything going up I can’t go anywhere over the weekend. I live on a budget and going out to party is not going to do me any good during these hard times. So I have no choice to stay in over the weekend. However, I won’t feel that bad because I have TSCC (My fav show) and Dollhouse to keep me company on Firday. I know Friday is horriable but it’s up to us to get the word out about both these shows. At least Fox is giving somewhat of a chance. HAHA what am I saying but will see people.

  31. John Says:

I for one don’t believe Friday night can “kill” a show. Numbers is in its 5th season, Ghost Whisperer in its 4th, and there have been others. Face it - a show draws people in or it doesn’t.

I’m a huge Whedon fan, and was gravely disappointed in Firefly being cancelled, but 6 years later, it’s a largely changed TV universe. I DVR everything now, back then I had to remember to set my VCR, make sure a tape was in, make sure it’s “set”, now I press a couple buttons and I’m ready to record a full season that I can watch whatever night I want.

I even believe they can count DVR’d eps in the ratings, VCRs never used to count. I think if the show is as good as it looks on the outside, it’ll do well.

“This is the one - tell your friends”.

  32. Ashleigh Says:

I personally do not car what night a show is on. I like most TV shows usually watch many shows within the same time slot. With the invention of the internet and online viewing the show will survive.
Also Friday the 13th is a great day. I am a little disappointed though that we have to wait tell February but, I think Weaton said he would make some online episodes maybe he will be able to release one early.

  34. Buffy Says:

Let’s blow CBS out of the water with higher viewership on FOX Fridays with Dollhouse and Terminator!!!

  35. Yugidean Says:

I read an interview in which Whedon and Dushku were asked how they felt about “getting into bed” with Fox after each of their last shows were canceled by the same network. Both said they felt much more confident and that they were dealing with all new people who were optimistic and hopeful about “Dollhouse.” This is also why an entire half-season was ordered (as opposed to just a pilot or just three or four episodes). I sure hope that Fox’s recent postponement and timeslot-murder of the show doesn’t make Whedon and Dushku eat their words. More importantly, if the show doesn’t make it on Fox, I sincerely hope that Joss will shop other Networks who give a flying you-know-what about quality programming and not bland, over-produced, or reality shows. I’m just going to keep my fingers crossed for the next few months.

  36. RJ Says:

Dollhouse looks terrible. This looks great!

  37. James Bond Says:

TSCC is so good, i would miss work to watch it on Monday mornings.

  38. Ken Says:

While it wasn’t the best place to start the show, pairing it with an established show isn’t such a bad idea. It could work in there favor.

  39. Jerry Cuts Says:

Without seeing Dollhouse fans want Fox to give it a break. Think harder Fox executives - you have no good cred with Whedon’s legions. You’re also dropping the ball on publicity so hire better publicists if they don’t cut it. The ad revenues on Dollhouse will help pay your bloated poorly-earned salaries. As Wall Street is slow to learn, with failure comes a $1.00 a year salary. You new people don’t seem at all different from the old ones.

  40. Jerry Cuts Says:

    !

  41. magic Says:

ummmmmm, so fox forgot all about how they missed out on a lot of money by canceling firefly so early in and now they’re setting up dollhouse for the same fate. okay but if there is anyone that could bring in some money for fox it is joss whedon, so maybe they should hold off on killing the show before it airs

  42. Matt Says:

It sounds to me like “Lie to Me” is going to be an awesome show, and I’m looking forward to watching it, not squealing about some other program.

  43. Finley Says:

I can’t wait for Lie to me in january

  45. mary. Says:

fox, you should’ve put that “are you smarter thana 5th grader” on “holliday hiatus” (fri dec 26th) and instead, should’ve aired an adam sandler movie or somthing else. :(

  46. Jessica Says:
