Notes from The Con - MacFarlane Edition
Because any adventure with Brian and Stewie is always immensely popular, the duo will also be transported back to 1939 Poland for an episode. Let the inappropriate Nazi jokes commence!
TV Squad has pix as well as these tidbits:
Upcoming episodes will feature: A new dog in the Griffin house that is always happy, which will make Brian leave… a takeoff on the ‘Sliders’ premise with Stewie and Brian traveling to different parallel universes.
James Woods will be returning for Family Guy sometime this season.
EW.com’s PopWatch has scoop on Cleveland:
Leaving the series, however, is (Mike) Henry’s Cleveland, who moves to his hometown of Stoolbend, Va., to reconnect with his high-school sweetheart to, as Henry put it, “form a Black Brady Bunch.” MacFarlane noted that he’ll also have a voice role in that series, as the father in a bear family that lives on Cleveland’s street. What does the bear sound like? Polish (we think).

I like the ideas, but even though cleveland will have his own show doesnt mean they shoud take him off family guy! hes like the only important black person in the show! oh, well, hes not that important anyways…

I hope the best for the cleveland show, but to be honest it seems that most of these spinoffs fall short. It seems the cast will no longer be complete with the slow but steady character cleveland represents in the show. Maybe you should fill his slot with a character that would be the opposite of the stereotypes that surround the race. Like a pacifist jihadist (sp?) or a intellectual borderjumper who comments on the new york times while sitting in boxes being shipped to america from mexico.

i think that a quagmire spin off would have been better. he is one of the most interesting characters on family guy.

Why should Quagmire be in the spin off the whole point of an episode is so that the character can say i have learned a lesson can Quagmire actually say that

Personally I am very disappointed that established actors and performers such as Kanye West and Taraj would sell themselves so short. Though Family Guy is without question a very funny show that often presents, provocative themes it has a long history of portraying countless stereotypes of various ethnic minorities, especially Black People. Cleveland’s character already has a slew of negative connotations attached to him and the self titled spin off appears to be much similar to that. I strongly urge MacFarlane and the Productions Staff to strongly consider input and any possible suggestions from members of the African American community before airing what plans to be a cheap shot at humor, at the risk of being extremely racially offensive.
