Blogging the TCA Blogs #10 - “Fringe”

What’s that sound, J.J.?:

The prolific writer-producer told TelevisionWeek on Monday that, yes, he has penned the theme song for “Fringe.”

The string-heavy introduction to “Fringe” came to Mr. Abrams while he was getting ready to go to bed one night.

TV Guide on helping confused fans:

Fringe is in many ways an experiment for us,” says Abrams. “We’re trying very deliberately to do a show that doesn’t require the insane absolute dedication to a series that if you miss an episode, you have no idea of what is going on.”

But short arcs also means it’s easy to not watch. Let’s hope it’s good enough that nobody will want to drop it!

  2. Josh Says:

Hm. That’s kind of a drag. I enjoyed being insanely dedicated.

  3. Heidi Says:

I like that idea, because there are some arc-driven shows that take it too far. I was a huge X-files fan, until, having watched and rewatched every episode, I completely lost track of what was going on. Didn’t even watch the last two seasons. TV should be enganging, even challenging, but never work.

oK SERIOUSLY, quit with the LOST music. I really loved that show until the retarded creators ran it into the ground, and it is painfully obvious that this show is just stealing the music from LOST. (Which just makes me dislike it simply because it reminds me of a show I once like but now hate because of its creators). So, that said, take the time to freakin create your own music for this show. Otherwise I have only seen part of the episode so hopefully these guys won’t screw this one up. Just map out whats going to happen for the next 8 yrs in advance (actually have a plan) and it seems like a good start to a potentially great show.

Totally amazing, Ive been waiting for a show like this.

  7. Bad Science Says:

Looks like they spent more on the set than getting the science correct. There were far too many errors in the current episode for anyone with even a mild scientific background not to see.

Really do you think that one can synthesize LSD in a few hours? Total synthesis is a real year long job.

As for wiring someone up on narcotics? Ugh the gear looked like it was rewired from a cheap electronics kit. Make it look serious.

The thing with the cow being like man? Ugh simply over the top. I will stop there but this was all within a 10 min segment of the show. Its time they get some respectable scientific consultants because as it stands they are not standing on the Fringe of Science they have fallen over it (sorry tripped over it) and did so in a very lame way.

Great show! But I couldn’t help but watch the pictures leading into the commercial breaks. I want to know if they are just pictures or if it’s some sort of symbolism or is it clues about the show itself? I noticed that the pictures were first a butterfly, leaf, right hand with 5 fingers and 1 thumb,a half of an apple with strange looking seeds almost like fetuses, then the hand again, and finally the apple again. I would love to know if anyone has any info on this or am I just looking to close at some pictures.

I was hooked from the beginning and was even more hooked at the end. AWESOME! LOVED IT! Just brilliant all around. My new show to watch every week!
