  1. Q: I am interested in becoming a writer for a FOX show. What the minimum qualifications that I should have to be considered for your diversity development writers program?

    A: The primary emphasis of our Writers Program is to provide opportunities for aspiring talented writers of diverse backgrounds, including communities of color. Promising, talented diverse writers with the desire to write for FOX television series are encouraged to submit. Candidates should have demonstrated writing skills, culminated in a television spec script(s) that is well developed and effective. Candidates should also be recommended by either agency representation or an individual with considerable industry experience (e.g., WGA writer - producer level or above, writing professor, community/industry organization, national media coalition group).   2. Q: What is your 2008 writers program about and what are the requirements for submission?

    A: The primary emphasis of our Writers Program is to provide opportunities for aspiring talented writers of diverse backgrounds, including communities of color.   3. Q: When will you accept submission for the 2008 writers program?

    A: We will accept submissions from April 1 through July 3, 2008. For more information, please see the 2008 Writers Program under our Diversity Development Programs page.


  4. Q: Do you accept original television and film scripts?

    A: Fox Diversity is currently accepting original television scripts only through our Writer's Initiative Program as described under the "Writers Submissions" link. We accept original feature scripts only if submitted through an agency or attorney. Feature scripts will not be considered for the Writer's Initiative Program, however.


  5. Q: Are you looking for writer trainees?

    A: Diversity Development seeks to provide opportunities for promising writers in the following positions on Fox Broadcasting and 20th Century Fox Television series:

    Staff Writers
    WGA Writer Trainees
    2nd Writer's Assistants


  6. Q: What is the process for submission?

    A: Send all the material together with two original signed and notarized copies of the SUBMISSION OF MATERIAL - RELEASE AND AGREEMENT. The material should be labeled with your name and address. We will accept submissions from April 1 to July 3, 2008. Submissions will be deemed to have arrived on time only if they have been received by the Fox mailroom or by an authorized Fox Diversity executive no later than 5:00pm on July 3rd. If you fail to comply with any of these requirements, your submission will not be eligible for review. Please keep the original or at least one copy of all the material you submit since the material you submit will NOT be returned to you.


  7. Q: Do I need recommendations / referrals for submission to your development programs?

    A: All candidates for diversity development programs should be submitted through talent agent/attorney representation or by recommendation from an individual with considerable industry experience (e.g., WGA writer - producer level or above, writing professor, community entertainment industry group, national media coalition group).


  8. Q: Who reads the television spec scripts submitted to your department?

    A: This year submissions will be evaluated by readers affiliated with Writer's Boot Camp. Fox Diversity executives will read their coverage and in many cases the scripts themselves. Fox Diversity will read all semi-final submissions and will make the final selections.


  9. Q: Will the writer be notified of other positions available at FOX?

    A: As the primary objective of Diversity Development's Writers Program is the employment of eligible candidates, the department's resources are specifically focused on staffing various writer positions.


  10. Q: Does FOX have any shadowing programs for directors?

    A: FOX does not offer shadowing programs for directors at this time. Individual productions may offer such programs, however, and can be contacted directly to inquire. Contact information is available for all series currently in production via industry trades.


  11. Q: When do you accept submissions from directors?

    A: The referral process for directors is primarily facilitated through agent submissions. It is most important that directors become affiliated with the Directors Guild of America.


  12. Q: What kinds of reels are you looking for?

    A: At this point we are not soliciting reel submissions from directors, unless requested specifically by individual production companies.


  13. Q: I have no reel available. Can I still submit my resume?

    A: It is always most effective for directors to accumulate a body of work and present it on a directors reel through agent submission.
