Although there are many forms of this graceful ballroom dance, the Viennese waltz is considered to be the original. Dancers perform in a closed hold and turn constantly, integrating "change steps" that alter the direction of their movement. The two versions of the Viennese waltz (International and American styles) are faster than the more commonly performed English waltz. Mollee Gray and Jakob Karr performed a Viennese waltz during Season 6 to "Ordinary Day" by Vanessa Carlton, which was choreographed by Jason Gilkison. Although Gray was eliminated that night, judge Nigel Lythgoe said of the dance, "Jason's beautiful choreography shows the Viennese waltz at its best."
