Krump

A modern descendant of break dancing and hip-hop, krumping is characterized by high-energy, sharply defined dance moves. Common steps include stomping, kicking, chest popping, arm swings, and buck bangs. Dancers often face off in a "session," during which competing performers go head-to-head in a battle. Krumping is said to have been started in South Central Los Angeles by Thomas "Tommy the Clown" Johnson, who first performed the dance at a children's birthday party in full clown makeup. "So You Think You Can Dance" choreographer Lil C is credited as one of the leaders who developed krumping. In Season 6 of "So You Think You Can Dance," Krumper Russell Ferguson proved he could do more than just street dance when he took home the title.
