Breakdance

This style of street dance originated in the Bronx as part of the urban hip-hop culture. More commonly called breaking, it started when dancers called b-boys and b-girls would use only the breaks in a song -- the parts with just a beat. It consists of four main moves: toprock (done while still standing up), floor rocks (performed while hips and/or shoulders touch the ground), power moves (spinning), and freezes (including platform, suicide, and bridge). Some of the notable b-boys and b-girls from "So You Think You Can Dance" have been Season 3's Dominic, Hok, and Sara, Season 4's Gev, Season 6's Legacy and Season 7's Jose.
