videodelight: part two.

Phase two of post-finale video extravaganza. Check out this peak behind-the-scenes as we run a test for our big ZeiraCorp crash stunt from last week’s Born to Run. I coerced Executive Producer James Middleton into playing the role of Narrator, but see if you can also spot Josh Friedman, director Jeff Hunt, or VisualFX guru Steve Galich hard at work.

It was important to test out the track (built right through Weaver’s office) with a harmless piece of plywood before the day of production when the actual, practical H/K got its chance to shine. And don’t worry, there’s more footage to come — including construction/finishing touches on the practical H/K.

  6. Awesome. Man, you guys have the best job in the world. I really hope you all get to go back and do a season 3 i really do.

    Thanks for the video.

  7. So much work to do on a tight schedule! That sure was a good scene in the episode too. Lot’s of fire.

I also liked it when Sarah, John & Ellison came running out into the hallway with the explosion and flames behind them. You guys rawk!

  8. Nice one. Thanks Hadley!

    Keep them coming, please!! :D

Can’t wait to see the one with more details on the construction of the HK you used for that great scene! :)

  9. Thanks Hadley for the video. I was a few times on shootings, most of the time is waiting and boring so I prefer watching behind-the-scenes on the screen :-)

  10. Thanks for this little insight about how the crash stunt was made.

Looking forward to the next video.

  11. Great !

just wrote to Fox and Wb.
Waitin for news and keepin online

    see ya soon

  12. Is this gonna be on the DVD?
We want every last minute of footage you all have!!
No matter how boring it might seem, all of it :D

    That eel was cool. Thanks!

  13. This isn’t too bad but can we get some new Summer footage? I can’t survive very long without it!

  14. I really like the behind the scenes stuff.

Really looking forward to the H/K video.

Oh and i agree with Persia, we need every bit of footage that was filmed, even if its super boring we all want and need it on the season 2 DVD.

Sent my emails today, going to mail some paper ones tomorrow. Keep up the fight everyone, we forgot for 13 episodes and then for the back 9. We can fight for more episodes and win. Just don’t give up hope, and don’t believe the rumors. I will believe when FOX tells us.

  15. I love unedited BTS footage like this…it’s just fascinating.

Please keep the raw stuff coming — it’s a blast to watch guys stand around and drink coffee while they plan the stunt. And who let Josh away from his computer…shouldn’t he be getting a head start on SESON 3????

@Franz: Good to hear you wrote the SUITS — everyone needs to drop a real letter in the mail ASAP.

  16. Hadley, thanks for the update! So cool to see the crew at work, which reminds me of the army it takes to make a TV series!

Will be dropping my letters to WB and FOX in the mail tomorrow - I gotta brave the crowds at the post office and get some stamps! ;)

  17. @ Bob
Well Bob you wanted more videos with Summer, well I found two that are great. The 1st one does not deal with TSCC but its still good. And the second one is not strictly just Summer, and its got to do more with TSCC.

    1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SjPekY7M_w
    This video is really graceful.

    2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV-ybE7C0vs
This video seriously made me cry a little.

  18. Thanks for the footage. Its nice to see how everything comes together. The final crash scene is awesome. Even that eel creeps me out…

  19. Videos like these almost mean as much as entire episode now when the season 2 is over :(. Give season 3, nau!

  20. The guy with the walkie talkie in the very beginning, at the still before you play the vid. Insert a caption from Joe Pesci I’m funny how?………. He has that look

  21. Nice!

  22. gotta love these behind the scenes videos makes u appreciate the final work even more

  23. Dugg

    Great video!

I do wonder about something regarding FoD and Hulu. Why do they only have four or so minutes of commercials? I’m not saying they should have the eighteen-ish amount that the live show has, but it seems like a couple of more ads might make online viewing increase a show’s bottom line a bit more and give those views more influence. Is it a matter of not being able to sell more ads?

If the WB is the distributor, why not allow non-American viewers to watch the show via the Internet and have the eighteen minutes of commercials? I’m sure there would be issues with giving Fox the first run, but this seems like something that should (and I’m sure is) being looked at. And I’m willing to bet it would cut down on piracy. This system just doesn’t work anymore in a Global Economy.

  24. Thanks Hadley. You guys put so much effort into making an amazing show.

  25. Thank you for all the long hours you guys put in to make such a great show!

  26. If the WB is the distributor, why not allow non-American viewers to watch the show via the Internet and have the eighteen minutes of commercials?

Then they wouldn’t be as able to sell it to overseas distributors.

  27. Cool vid. I am hungry for anything TSCC related right now. And I echo the request for a bit of Summer, that’s always good… Woud love to see how her terminator look was done. I always love it when their eyes are visible. Though the HK should be cool as well. And because of these behind the scenes videos we do know that it really is a HK. I don’t believe it was ever called that in the series.

  28. Lotta people slacking off drinking coffee…until the Man showed up. Then it was _ss holes and elbows!

Does Emily Gage make it to the future?

  29. Interesting clip. I loved the crash scene.

  30. WE WANT A THIRD SEASON, PLEASE.
THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST … THE FX, THE CASTING, THE HISTORY, EVERYTHING, PLEASE DON’T SHUT DOWN IT PLEASEEEEEE

    A THIRD SEASON !!!

  31. @starkiller:

also, many countries, like Canada, regulates the foreign cultural content in various ways.

  32. If people want to see their show, they will find a way over the internet (illegally) - PERIOD!
That doesn’t help the show at all. If they would remove the limitations on Hulu and FOD then they would at least get some profit out of it. Another drawback these limitations have, is that FOX doesn’t know how many people are really following the show. Sure, you can track some of the Torrents, but that’s not all. Not by a longshot! You can’t track ftp, usenet, p2p, illegal streams, http downloads (e.g. Rapidshare) and I’m sure some more, which I can’t think of right now.
But as always, the companies can’t keep up and hold on to their outdated techniques…

Sorry, back on topic: Nice clip! I really appreciate all this behind the scenes stuff. Keep it up! And make sure to put all this + LOTS of commentary on the DVD’s!

  33. “Does Emily Gage make it to the future?”

Did they give her that name as Phineas Gage nod?

  34. @sNaKeBiTe:

your are operating under the delusion that FOX or Hulu are in control of what happens in other countries: it may surprise you but they don’t. Either the laws of those countries or their clients in them won’t let them export their stuff at will.

It will take a long time for the traditional medias and the governments of the planet to get up to pace with the changes. Too much for it to have an effect on a season 3 anyway. ;)

  35. More cameron stuff for you fans out their. not that many of you of course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrSXSSNViUE&feature=related

  36. Will these videos make it to the Season 2 dvd’s?

  37. That video reminds me of my job: I am a cabinetmaker by trade, who landed into museology by luck. I am the one who has to make things work while a crowd of ‘creatives’ float around discussing each of my moves like they’re at a hockey game.

RCN: hurdle raised. That’s nice isn’t it?

  38. Please, can anyone tell me where i can find ”behind the scenes” videos?
    Thank you in advance!

  39. Film with Thomas Dekker in. Not a big part but it looks good. Might not appeal to you Sci Fi nerds. hehe!!!

  47. @ Spudster

    Thanks :)

There are a few cracks in his logic but he come through pretty good toward the end. When he says that the networks don’t know us then it should be an incentive to make ourselves known! Let’s write and fax, the two which are the hardest to ignore and why not email too? Let’s write into every blog there is and comment on Ausiello’s crap and on every ass who repeats it blindly.

He also ignores just about everything about polling and Nielsen: firstly, he should know if it is 12 000 boxes or 37 000. A ratio of 3 to 1 makes quite a difference; secondly, he should know that through the use of statistical analysis it is easy and safe to infer conclusions from a poll of so many families.

He is very right that the power of online watching is growing though. So let’s so that too if we can.

  48. don’t forget the important

    askfox@fox.com

    Scott.Rowe@Warnerbros.com

tell them how much you want another season

  49. The comments on this blog are drying out Hadley: will it be all? I’ll miss my meetings here with passionate friends (writers and fans).

When and if I come back home tonight I’ll watch the pilot. Then, for 30 more weeks I’ll play one ep every Friday, when possible.

Give us some news of the cast. I know that Lena has a lot of projects. I couldn’t stand “Laid to Rest”, slashers aren’t my thing but I’ve seen the trailer for “The Sophisticates” and it look to be excellent and fun and moving.

  50. WE - WANT - MORE!!!
    WE - WANT - MORE!!!

  51. Just to let you all know, Amazon.com has the second season available for pre-order on DVD and Blu-ray. Delicious :)

  52. TSCC Season 2: Blu-ray Edition

    http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-Connor-Chronicles-Season-Blu-ray/dp/B001AQR3J4

30% off now on Amazon.com, but it probably will drop sooner or later

For that list price WB had best load it up with great extras (like fully polished and completed directors’/producers’ cuts), top out the 1080p video encode to the maximum bitrates (no cramming of episodes on each disc, either), and give us 24 bit Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio from the studio masters.

Will they? It’s WB… so who the hell knows… which is sad to say.

  53. Help! The geek squad has overrun the Post-Gazette’s annual Keep or Cancel poll. I often share affection for the TV shows some organized groups support, but fans of Fox’s low-rated “Dollhouse” and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” have swamped the poll, skewing early results. As of yesterday, only 48 percent of the votes cast have been local. Usually at least 60 percent of the votes are local.

    http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09107/963427-67.stm

    Keep hammering them all.

  54. Thanks for the link, Robert! Just voted.

Pushing Daisies and Terminator are two of the fantasy-like shows I’d like to see return to the airwaves, that are on worthy of another shot.

Do they need to improve… yes. Can they improve… yes. They both still have great potential.

Give it their absolute all and they could be TV classics.

  55. http://mithridates.blogspot.com/2009/04/we-need-third-season-of-terminator.html

A big analysis from the blog “Page F30″ why the show should get renewed. It has some interesting statistics.
