april fools!

FOX asked us to play a practical joke on our cast for April Fools, so we hired an actress to play “Murlotta Jones,” a first-time interviewer who is anything but smooth…

Check out the strange interview and Brian, Thomas, and Summer’s response!

64 Responses to “april fools!”

  1. You guys are mean! That was so funny. The Broadway comment cracked me up immediately. Hilarious.

The cast probably gets enough bad interviewers already, as Thomas hinted at.

    Mean, but funny!

  2. lol April Fools!

A Terminator musical…..Interesting to say the least. That actually makes me slighty curious of what it would be like. Somehow it just doesn’t seem to fit.

I think the only input Summer had on that whole thing was one “Yeah” and that’s it. :(
Thomas and Brian are much more talkative.

“Who’s idea was this!?” - Thomas at the end.

  3. Ha ha, more Cameron pleases! There are still so many questions about her left unanswered, just don’t put them in the dark and let people to guess what might happened! Hoping the Cameron & Sarah conversation and the Cameron & Derek conversation are not conclusions to the Alison story and Dragon in the Dungeon story!

    I

  4. John Henry and Ellison, tap dancing with Savanah, could turn a few heads.

  5. Funny ^_^ Although I think you coulda pushed it a little more. Loved the broadway comment, and Thomas’ reaction!

  6. No offense, but that joke was sorely lacking. I think the Broadway deal was the only good joke in there.

It’s cool it was done though!

Actually, I think the editing was the thing that was sorely lacking… I’m sure facial expressions and responses were good but the camera stayed on the interviewer and seriously, who cared about her? Nobody lol.

  7. I think that I could spot Summer in all this, as an extra…

  8. John is not wearing the “necklace”. Where is it? Who has it?

  9. Sorry, but that was very weak. I thought the Bones one was better, albeit predictable.

  10. It was a cute interview. I was wondering why she didn’t ask Summer a question. But I think it would have been cool to tease the cast about Sarah Connor The Musical. Thomas seemed into it and we would get to see Summer Dance again. Brian tap dancing? Who would have thought about that :)

I wonder if Lena can dance?

    Zad

  11. I’m a little confused about something (it doesn’t take much)

They look like they’re in costume for their characters, but I thought production wrapped up weeks ago.

The jackets really make it appear they are.

The look on Thomas’ face when he looks into the camera at the Broadway comment. That’s priceless. Funny.

  12. Lol it looks like is shy and that she likes thomas. Shes all close to him and jus stares at him when he talks.

  13. Wow edit button. I meant it looks like summer is shy and likes thomas by how close she is standing to him and she only says one word the whole time.

  14. Evidently filmed a while back I guess.

  15. Cat get Summer’s tongue ? Someone needs to get that girl a funny bone. Heck she can kill people with her brain, right?
I liked , “have you been in jail?”

  16. She is quiet. At the last event I went to she came out on stage and almost didn’t say anything to us. You could really see her shyness there. But once the questions started rolling in she opened up and told stories, etc. Very cute actually.

  17. Funny… sort of…

They needed a real crack comedian to play the role of the reporter and ask some really wacked out questions (not at the beginning, but then build to some eyebrow raising stuff), and then get the actors’ raw responses. It would have been funnier IMHO.

Otherwise, “Terminator: The Broadway Musical” and Thomas’ dead-pan reaction to it were the only chuckle inducing bits.

It was almost too staged, so they seemed primed for it.

Broadway’s Tony-Award-Winning song from “Terminator: The Musical:”

    “Catherine the Liquidinator.”

Featuring Shirley Manson and her tap dancing I.T. department.

    ——–

Catherine: “Take it away, Mr. Murch!”

[Fred Astaire ain't got nuthin' on Shane Edelman!]

    Mr. Murch:

“Ya got trouble, folks, right here in ZeiraCorp. City
with a capital ‘T’ and that rhymes with ‘S’ and that stands for…”

    Everybody in the cast: “SKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYNET!!”

[the audience jumps to their collective feet and yells for an encore!!]

    :D

  18. The Tony-Award Nominated Song from “Terminator: The Musical” was:

“That’s A Bummer, Baum-er” sung by Thomas Dekker and BAG.

  19. I think Google did the best Terminator-based April Fool’s joke today with the creation of CADIE, who became sentient shortly after 2 AM. If only Skynet had that level of interest in cute pandas rather than destruction of the human race…

  20. Haha loved Thomas’ reaction about the broadway. He was so shocked and worried at the same time. And Brian was so scared whenever the interviewer came near him. He looked like he thought she was crazy.

  21. lol that had me rollin

  22. Does anyone else notice that they’re filming in a completely empty space. Wouldn’t you usually do an interview on the one of the actual sets?

  23. I hope that cancellation article turns out to be some kind of bizarre early april fool’s day prank.

  24. Broadway, huh?

I’d pay real money to see a line of riverdancing endoskeletons…

  25. I love Dekker at the end: “Who’s idea was this?!”

As in, “What the frak? They pulled us out of the set and wasted our time for that?”

This clip was more endearing than funny. To see the actors doing their best to be courteous to the “interviewer.”

  26. Read this over at Whedonesque[dot]com

It sounds like they got yanked out of something to do the prank.. so Summer probably was in a different headspace. Plus she’s pretty shy from when I met her on ME Day.

  27. LOL oh so you guys hired an actress to do the interview. That was priceless!!! I laughed so hard when I saw that on TV. I actually taped FOX Wednesday just to see the TSCC part!! Which then said you could see the extended version online.

TSCC Broadway!!! I’m all for it!!! I would pay to see that!! That was priceless.
    When that was filmed?!?
And who came up with the Broadway idea?!?!
And is the cast going to ‘pay you guys back’!?!!?!

TD and BAG looked shocked, SG not so much.
You can’t really hear what SG says but priceless. TD was so shocked, and a I love that he said with this show you never know.

And James Middleton was in on it. LOL. That was the best one of the night.

Bring on the Broadway show!!! And of course a season 3!!!! :)

  28. Ahhh. Am I the only one who thought this wasn’t funny? Akward, yes. Funny, no.

  29. I didn’t think it was funny at all. Also, I never really noticed just how petite Summer Glau is. She looked very tiny standing next to TD. He’s not a very big guy either. That never really showed up on screen. How tall is Summer Glau?

  30. Depending on the source, Summer reportedly stands about 1.67-1.70m (5′6″-5′7″).

It is definitely interesting watching Summer do press stuff. Especially with an audience (or when a little off-guard), she’s rather shy but will open up after a while if encouraged. In one-on-one interviews, she starts off somewhat guarded but if the interview goes on long enough she becomes more relaxed and conversational.

This isn’t exactly surprising. The cultish hoopla that follows shows in this and related genres has found many actors exhibiting exactly the same trait in similar circumstances. SF/F fans (apparently) can be a bit intimidating - even for actors not shy by nature.

That said, I think in this case it was more about the editing.

  31. Summer may be small in stature, but she’s a giant on-screen IMHO.

And you can quote me on that.

  32. On TV it was cute because all they talked about was Broadway. The extended version is a little odd in editing I have to agree.
I mean SG just appears out of no where. Someone missed a jump cut!!!!

Can’t we just call it TSCC or as some might say the Cameron Connor chronicles! Just saying. LOL.

I still think the cast is going to go for a little pay back. Keep us posted if they do ‘get all of you back’.
But at least it was harmless.

And before we go on Broadway, we need a season 3 and some TSCC merchandise.
But the Broadway TSCC idea just makes me laugh!!! TD’s look into the camera, his WHAT reaction, asking if they really were going to do Broadway not to mention everyone‘s reaction. But that would be cool to see. Like what Dan posted.
TSCC Broadway…Best idea ever…now we just need a season 3!!!

    Sing with me ‘On Broadway…’

  33. I am starting to wonder how much of a liability the Jameronites are becoming for Summer. I mean, beside giving a belly ache to any normal person. Imagine that Summer is looking for work post T:SCC: anyone hiring her would inherit this disruptive possy too. Who needs that problem really?

  34. Nice to watch but not super funny… Was a bit dissapointed that they seemed to cut away most of the actor’s responses. Shame that Summer’s responses were not shown much (or she simply didn’t say anything…). But it’s really nice to see that they’ve taken the time to do this, always good to see.

Loved the ” whose idea was this?” line from Thomas. He’s cool.

  35. I thought it was nice and playful. Loved the Broadway reaction. Would have liked to see Summer have a little more say, but I’d probably be the same way. Quiet until I actually have something to say… then you’d have to make me stop talking. I don’t think it’s about shyness… it’s about being reserved.

  36. Awkwardly funny, but funny nonetheless. Summer has always seemed fairly shy/reserved at first. even that vlog that had TD interviewing Summer in the craft service truck, she seemed fairly reserved even around a costar…. I was expecting the “interviewer” to ask Summer if she’s up to doing a Terminator ballet…..

  37. Poor Summer, she was totally stumped at the whole thing.

  38. Hmm a T:SCC broadway musical?

For Sarah I can see her singing a song titled: “And I’ll make the pancakes!”

For Derek why not: “I just want a beddddd… To sleep in! To sleep in! To sleep in!”

For John: “It’s a hard knock life for us, it’s a hard knock life for us, living in alternate dimensions, living with a super hot robot, it’s a hard knock life!”

And saving the best for last!

Cameron: “Somewhereee… in thereee… inside my thick coltan head! A fewww wires are getting crossedddd! Somewhere in my head somewhere!”

Happy April fools to you guys and can’t wait to see this Friday’s episode!

    I love you Summer!

  39. Hum OK… it wasn’t that funny.

And why was Summer there? She barely said two words???
I mean com’on, you make a joke about a musical version of T:SCC and you have a former professional dancer in the room, think you could ask her if she’d like to dance on the musical commedy or something???

And like many said, the editing wasn’t that good. We saw way to much of the interviewer and not enough of the actors and their reactions.

  40. Heyheyhey… if you look really, really close at the video, you can actually see Summer Glau standing in the background being shy and cute. xD

  41. >And why was Summer there? She barely said two words???<

that sounds really strange to me. She’s not a terminator or a supergirl, she’s just a girl. Yes, she plays and she’s famous but it doesn’t mean she can’t be shy or what else. What do you expect to? I think, she’s nice so. I often think she feels a dancer so just doesn’t mind a lot of things of this job.

  42. You’re right dnx, she is very nice.

Galen, she looked totally stumped to me too. Completely innocent. She even looked stumped after the joke was revealed. Poor thing.

Well hadley, how about another preview clip! You know we can’t get enough of those. Everybody played nice on this post.

  43. No offense but that was just painful, endearing but certainly not funny, nice try Fox but hey at least we got some advertising in on Wed.

Heck, we gotta look at the bright side of everything since there’s only two more episodes left *trying not to slip into despair*

SEASON THREE MUST COME IF FOX DOESN’T WANT A BUNCH OF INSANE PEOPLE ON THEIR HANDS! lol

  44. Good but don’t make me laugh… apart from Thomas Dekker reaction! :)

He seems to be a very funny guy. Summer: she prefer say nothing than said something not nice. It’s why everybody loves her.

    Thanks Fox!

  45. hm Summer out of the picture, like in the last season 2 episodes. :/
If those guys are on the set right now, hopefully it means they’re currently recording season 3. I pray for it.

  46. Summer’s response? Did not notice that at all…

I am not in the “Jameron” group but I start feeling that the rest of the crew really does not let her to talk. She can’t be that bad…

  47. @Gary: are you serious? FOX should give her a contract then :D

I hope the whole video leaks out somewhere… The editing is just awful.

  48. Was everybody in on it except Thomas? He seemed the most responsive!

  49. Why is Lena never doing any promotion? Oh I forgot, she refuses to bring publicity to the show because of all the criticism when the show started was aimed at her and it is justified.

The writers should’ve taken a clue by then. The reason people are not tuning in because the weakest link is the lead character.

This was the worst interview I’ve seen in a long time.

  50. If there ever was an un-funny, but too true lesson from this fake-out interview:

The name of the show is too long.

    Note to the producers…

For Season 3… just call it “Terminator.”

  51. Yes… what Dan said.

  52. Gary, you just have to be an instigator don’t you. You continue with your little diggs and then get mad when people respond. Well, here you are then. You’re full of it. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  53. ShadowerDarkslayer

    @Gary

    Link?

  54. omg… Why do you guys get so mad over this? I don’t get it. Just leave it alone!

@Dan: In Germany, the official title of the show is actually “Terminator: S.C.C.”.
However, it’s not because of the length, but because there is a famous german singer by the name of Sarah Connor and they didn’t want to confuse people.
Just some trivia that I thought of when I read your post :D

  55. Heck, I thought everyone knew the meaning behind April 1st.

Is that only a USA thing?

  56. Let’s all take a deep breath, again. And not get too personal with the comments, even if we do have our opinions.

Did anybody hear the one about the priest, the rabbi, and the Terminator? They all walk into a bar…

    :D

  57. No personal attacks from me. Heck I even heard this morning Summer laughed at my comment here.

    Again, April Fools!

  58. I’m so bent out of shape about S3 I’ve become like Trashman, only instead of reading the cracks in the sidewalk, I’m trying to read what this clip means about S3. Did Fox do something like this with all of its shows? This must have taken place before they wrapped up production for the seaon. Would Fox bother to do a stunt like this for a series that they weren’t going to bring back?

  59. I thought it was pretty hilarious, just looking at Thomas alone. He’s repeatedly said how much he despises the idea of doing a singing special, so this joke was aimed square at him. You can actually see his heart sinking when he thinks he’s going to have to sing. he wants to lash out at someone here, but holds it in until after the interviewer leaves.
The rest were kinda “WTF?” but he was scared beyond words.

  60. Czarfore, they did it to House Doll house and others too I might be missing. don’t read into it at all. if anything that fact that they would consider TSCC worthy of pranking should be a good thing.

  61. Not hilarious, but I did love it when she asks about Brenda, and BAG says, “The fictional character?” Just because he so clearly thinks she’s a moron, but he’s trying to play along and be polite.

  62. Good times.

Fox (?) must like the show a bit if they are doing things like this.

The greatest thing about this show is the cast — another reason the “Terminator” TV show needs at least a half season order!!!!

  63. @ nick85 LOL!!! Priceless. I think your onto something.

    @ Czarfore
    No it seemed to be…
    TSCC…had Broadway
    House MD…had a marching band
    Bones…actors heads
    Kitchen nightmares…actors heads
Dollhouse…had a bear (it was odd)
…so to answer your question no not every FOX show had an April fools day joke. Is that a good sign for TSCC…at least hey were asked to do this…a number of shows were not.

@Kyle Maloney I did not know ‘TD despises the idea of doing a singing special’. That explains his reaction.
    It still made me laugh.

  64. Why does Lena Headley and Brian Austin Green never appear on the set at the same time? Reminds me of the problems that surfaces with Miami Vice when Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas stopped appearing together in scenes.

In fact, it appears that Lena is not appearing with other actors as well?
