  1. Hmm… Am I the only one who found it really off-putting when Cameron called Sarah by her name?

  2. Yeah, a little, but then notice how Sarah looks back to see how Cameron is doing in the fight. What a change from the pilot, where she drove off while Cameron fought Cromartie. Sarah’s warming to her.

  3. It did seem kind of weird. Not a bad weird but I don’t think she’s ever called her name before to her face.

  4. I thought Sarah would’ve learned by now to keep her eyes on the road in stressful situations. This is the second time this season that she’s allowed herself to be distracted while driving, leading to an accident. If frustrating when characters don’t learn from their prior mistakes on basic stuff like this.

  5. That’s exactly what I noticed. Cameron has never called Sarah by her name. (She did say to her “You’re name is Sarah Connor” after she killed Enrique) It was surprisingly - intimate, I guess is the word. And Sarah shouldn’t drive. And she should stop blaming all her nicks and bruises on Cameron’s driving.

  6. Um.

    More metal? Hmmmm.

Definitely mighty co-incidental that Sarah is distracted *just* as the other vehicle comes along…Hmmmmm.

Well, I’ll be watching just to see how this fits and plays out.

  7. I don’t think Sarah’s eyes were gonna make much of a difference in that lying-in-wait terminator’s ability to broadside them on that tree-lined, dirt road. OTOH, yeah, the Sarah has a car crash schtick is getting a bit long in the tooth.

I noticed the first name thing, too, because Me Like! But I could almost swear she’s done it before. …that’s gonna bug me now….

“Sarah and Cameron are to David, Anne, and Lauren as… ?” … the SLA are to Patty Hearst?

  8. NICE!!!

  9. Is it me or do the voice overs of Sarah and the others in the van seem a little un-emphasized as soon as their escape from the van?

I hear it more clearly when she says “Back to the cabin, Run!”
Even their screams before they crash sound a weird/fake.

I don’t know, to me the audio sounds a little amateur-ish.

I hope it’s not like that in the show.

  10. Sarah is to a 12-guage shotgun, as a shopaholic is to an American Express card.

    Never leave home without it.

  11. Guys whats the big deal if she crashed? Man you guys are a little hard on this I don’t see what the issue is. I thought it was cool how Cameron says “Sarah” and “This wouldn’t work in a situation like this”

  12. Why does Sarah always run off with Cameron? Cameron should be shadowing John, especially since Derek isn’t around much.

  13. I love how Cameron called Sarah by her name!! (and when she said this wouldn’t help in a situation like this…or with a bear. lol)
And Sarah checked on Cameron!! The way Cameron said Sarah’s name just made me keep replaying it…

  14. If that was Cameron’s purple jacket that just got shot up, I almost feel sorry for the Terminator…

  15. This show takes place just after T2 and I am wondering why Sarah and Jon have never mentioned the T-1000 that they destroyed in T2. It seems like they would have mentioned it or discussed what that threat level is to make sure they are defending against more than just the trip 8’s. I know that there is a T-1001 in the show, but, I am surprised at the lack of those machines other than that. I hope we get to see and learn more about them and how they fit into the picture.

  16. The T-1000 in T2 was supposed to be a one of a kind prototype. Of course time travel was supposed to use such an ungodly amount of energy that its use was extremely rare.

  17. Awesome. Can’t wait for the show. I love how Sarah always bitches and complains about Cameron, but then co-ops her from John for her side missions. A couple of episodes ago she even refers to Cameron in a very possessive way when she tells Ellison, “I have a weapon.” Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s more like when a marine names his favorite assault rifle–but that kind of stuff cracks me up. And I think Sarah at the same time really hates Cameron and what she symbolizes, but grudgingly admits that she’s handy in an emergency. And I love how Cameron always overstates the obvious. She looks that gun over so meticulously as if she must be missing something, and then when she is finally sure, she makes her pronouncement, “It won’t work on a bear.” Very funny. And yes, I’ve wondered myself what would happen if someone shot up Cameron’s purple jacket. Terminators shouldn’t care about ballet or leather jackets anymore than my PC does, and yet those are two of Cameron’s quirks that make her both more interesting and more creepy. Does anyone know if Cameron is supposed to be self aware like Skynet? I haven’t seen any evidence in the series that she is self aware, but perhaps those two quirks are indicators that she is “special” enough to at least have the potential of becoming self aware.

  18. My god, no more distracting Sarah when she is driving! She is doomed to crash into another car as soon as she turns her head!

  19. Okay - I’m going to level this criticism at TSCC:

We’ve had 5+ terminators travel back in time so far, and only one sent to kill John Connor. I posit that every terminator sent back on a mission unrelated to the John Connor signals that SkyNet doesn’t consider John uniquely important.

If John is the so-called “savior of mankind”, shouldn’t he be a demonstrably higher value target than anyone else? This implies that SkyNet should devote more effort and resources to his demise than any other target. Right now, John seems to be just one of many SkyNet targets. There is no distinction made between John Connor, Marty Biddel, Ellison, Sherman, Derek’s resistance cell, the Governor of California, or anyone else. The fact that Future John sends Cameron back to protect his younger self says more about General Connors’ high opinion of himself than it says about the critical role he plays.

Even if other terminators know what to do if they run into John, it’s still not satisfactory b/c terminators should know what to do with any SkyNet target they encounter. Cameron attacks every terminator she encounters, regardless of whether or not they specifically target John.

This is a potential blunder which needs to be addressed. I recommend that instead of having terminators power down once they’ve completed their primary mission, they should automatically join the search for John Connor. This would put pressure on the Connors to be proactive about finding terminators before they complete their primary missions. In addition, SkyNet should send back two terminators of different genders to pursue John simultaneously. These terminators should work in tandem and pursue different leads. I think that would raise the stakes quite a bit. There would be no doubt as to John’s strategic importance.

  20. I always love Cameron’s lines. They are usually the best and funniest.

Calling Sarah by her first name really did stand out in the scene. But I’m not sure how much we can read into it since Cameron was voicing a warning and had to get Sarah’s attention immediately.

I imagine we are going to have a mopey Terminator now that her fave jacket has a 1/2 dozen holes in it. Be interesting to see if Sarah and Cameron have a scene regarding its importance to Cameron and if Sarah does anything about it.

  21. Love, love, LOVE Cameron addressing Sarah by her first name. It makes sense though even without the bias of my shipper heart, since she would be aware that humans don’t usually call each other by their full names. Interestingly enough, she referred to Charley Dixon by his full name when she offered John a sedative, so maybe it’s the closeness that she shares with the Connors?

Someone above said it was frustrating when characters idn’t learn from previous mistakes, but one, both times Sarah happened to be really stressed out (is anyone in their right mind when they’re snapping at someone else?) and two, most people do NOT learn from their mistakes, repeating them over and over and over again. I think it was a great scene, and I’m hoping Sarah and Cameron will have more scenes together.

  22. I THOUGHT I knew that guy! Don’t trust him! He was the ‘Fed’ from Firefly!!!

Sarah is like a leaving/breathing PSA for all those campaigns against distracted drivers!

  23. Allan, if you’re into Joss Whedon’s other shows, he was Ken, the guy who ran the homeless shelter/portal to a Hell dimension in the first episode of Buffy season 3 :)

  24. Thanks James!

    Never got into Buffy.

  25. *laugh* Thank you! I knew I had seen him before Firefly! He’s the dude Buffy gave her “impression of Gandhi” at the end of “Ann”, right?

  26. Logan,

Great! Wish I’d thought of that. A lot of what is said here makes a lot of sense. It’s what WE think up that gives the show “stereo” vision - even if we we don’t “see” a particular scene, they tell it well enough to both capture our imagination and allow it to create “wat if’s” for our ourselves (explore side vectors to the story they don’t have time to in a TV show or movie). Is this the mark of greatness? Some might not be on board with the whole T mythology, but it is fun to take THIS ride! Agreed?

  27. I think that Skynet has essentially given up on John because of Cameron. So instead go after members of the resitance, destroy them from the inside that way the future John has nothing. So even though Skynet will send some terminators back to keep John his toes he is essentially now a target of opportunity.

And I believe that Cameron has been self-aware if she wasn’t then she wouldn’t have overrode her function to kill John when John put her chip back in. Can’t wait for this episode should be interesting. Plus will see the future in Jessies world since it is obviously different then Dereks future.

Plus I love Cameron and Sarah scenes since both actresses rock!

  28. So many questions…the writers promised the story is going somewhere…i hope it goes somewhere soon. I’m a die hard fan of this show (I basically don’t watch anything else, certainly not HEROES) and every episode is great in it’s own way but i really want to get some answers…all this suspense and rabbit trails (not matter how awesome they actually are) need to come to an end and they need to spell it out. Like Derek, i’m seeing three dots all of every episode!! Can’t wait for tonight!
