So we’re all caught up on the story of Dinah and the Brothers of Nablus, but surely there are other goodies from this week’s episode that went unnoticed? Thankfully, you’ve got us goofy folk to share what we know.
As this episode was actually shot before The Tower…, this truly marked Stephanie Jacobson’s first days on set as Jesse. In fact, the first scenes she shot on our show were with Derek in bed! Nothing says “nice to meet you” like playing footsies under the covers.
The set used for Dr. Ostrowski’s dental office is actually the reconfigured set previously used for Ellison’s FBI office (as well as Dr. Sherman’s office). It lives on one of our sound stages here on the Warner Bros studio lot.
Speaking of reusing sets, the slick hotel pool where Jesse lounges may look like a location stolen from an episode of Entourage, but it’s actually the same pool (completely redressed) that we used to shoot all of the underwater footage during Cromartie’s Johnny Cash/FBI massacre last season. Props to our good gals and guys that cleaned out all of the old blood. We tease.
When Cromartie skips ahead of the line to talk to Rita, the social worker, at the halfway house, he tries to tell her that he’s her uncle. In turn, she responds sarcastically, “And I’m Angelina Jolie.” Ironically enough (we swear we didn’t know!), Jillian Armenante, the actress, is actually close friends with the star of Changeling — and even co-starred with her in the film Girl, Interrupted!
We did intentionally script the grocery items John and Riley pick up at the store. After all, the Connors only seem to eat a few things — pancakes (see: the series Pilot) and turkey meat (see: John’s snack in Gnothi Seauton). Buy what you know.
Cameron executes the waste of space robbers in the bowling alley because they are liabilities — they know where the Connors live, who they are, etc — right in front of Sarah. If this scene mirrors another one from earlier in the series, it’s intentional. When Cameron shoots Enrique in Gnothi Seauton, Sarah struggles with it and even slaps Cameron. But Sarah doesn’t react to the murders in Brothers of Nablus. Has she simply grown accustomed to Cameron’s strategy? Or did Andy Goode rebuilding the Turk actually teach her a lesson?
Robber Tristan Dewitt’s short film is called The Lightning in My Wires and won second place in the Sandusky Film Festival, 1993. Sounds… artsy. Meanwhile, the amazingly cool film Tristan pitches his friends at the bowling alley (Abraham Lincoln fighting zombies) is an actual film that a few members of this here T:SCC writers’ office have been working on for some time now. Keep your eyes peeled for it in the future…
Brothers of Nablus was written by Ian Goldberg of What He Beheld (and Related, the WB series) fame and directed by bigtime TV director, Milan Cheylov.
And who can forget Cameron’s fight to get back her purple leather jacket? True fans will recognize that jacket from the first season (she wears it to the high school a few times), as well as this publicity photo. Ahhhh, crazy robot.

I really liked this episode. First of all, points to Riley for staring down Cromartie and getting away with it. (Granted, she had no idea of how dangerous he was.)
I’m also intrigued by the religious elements being introduced throughout the series. This episode, in particular, pointing out the ‘Old Testament’ (righteous vengeance) nature of terminators versus the ‘New Testament’ (love and forgiveness) nature of Sarah and others. I also notice that the two terminators that are explicitly referencing the Bible are Cameron and Weaver, setting us up for a neat mirroring narrative for the two characters.
This show has enough action, drama, thrills and even humor to satisfy just about any viewer, but I love it for the smart storytelling, sharp dialogue and solid acting. TSCC rewards my attention and that’s something I can’t say for very many TV shows (or even movies) these days.
Well, it is a nice jacket!:)
If Sarah was really on board she would have burned the guy in the restroom.
congratulations,huge episode
riley >
that was the most significant development in this ep: Cameron trying to get her jacket back. it’s a robot. why would it care about fashion or “feel” attached to a personal item, right? that’s a human trait… most interesting. THIS IS WHY THIS SHOW ROCKS.
Thanks for all that, love to hear the extras. That’s what is so fun about the season 1 DVD, the extra goodies and information about production. I really enjoy the commentaries by Josh and the cast.
I was a little stunned when Cam shot the three guys, because we hadn’t seen her do that since she shot Enrique. I’d have to say Sarah’s reaction was portrayed that way because she understood the liability.
Really looking forwad to next week too…..
Great episode. I loved how Cromartie is developing as a character; he really seems to have his own agenda now and is dare-I-say, a bit pissed at the Connors for blowing him up at the end of S1?
And yeah that is a cool jacket.
I liked how Cameron when the house got robbed said “They took my jacket” and then had to get it back lol. Cameron is acting more human every day esspicaly since the whole Allison episode. I think that Weaver has gone a little rouge like I have said in earlier posts, why else would Skynet send a terminator to kill Ellison and she didn’t know about it. Doesn’t make a lot of sense.
P.S loved how Cameron said ” We could move to Canada” Lol obviously Skynet wouldn’t track them there ha ha. Its interesting that Cameron can digest things quicker then Cromatie. At least in terms of knowing what is going on because Cromatie had to scan the pictures to know if it was John or not. Can’t wait for Monday.

I liked this episode though in truth I haven’t really seen one yet that I don’t like but that’s beside the point. Termintor in any form is a ultimate good in my opinion.
Anyway I got a kick out of the jacket situation. Here we have a killer machine concerned about getting her favorite jacket back? I found those scenes very entertaining, and its situations like this that help make shows of this nature fun to watch. It also goes a long way in helping humanize Cameron as a character and is turning out to be more then she appears to be in each episode. Though it must be said when she shoots the thieves you’re snapped back to the “reality” that she is what she is and that’s something both awesome and very scary. Makes me wonder what will become of her in the end. Will she suffer the fate of all the Terminators before her or will she be the one that doesn’t get dipped into a smelting pool or burnt to a crisp with thermite when her mission is complete? Hmm?
I also liked the Cromartie scenes which were funny and a bit creepy. His little awkward smile at the very end was priceless helping reinforce just how cold he really is when he can’t even fake a smile properly. The Old Testament story Cameron told was also a good moment as it was poignant and relevant to what was happening while Summers delivery of it was perfect. The quip at the end where Cameron says “yes, my kind of story” was more of that character development goodness I mentioned before.
In any case I’ve rambled on enough. Suffice it to say I love the show and hope more people start and keep watching it so we can continue to enjoy the cast’s great performances and get more Terminator goodness. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Good transitional episode. Sarah still showing signs of Alice in Wonderland, unable to perceive any reality but her own. This trait didn’t work for Alice and it won’t work for Sarah. She’ll continually hit the ceiling with her head or be too small to see her immediate surroundings.
How’s the weather there? Derek’s attire seemed a little out of place when he met Jesse at the pool. He looked dressed for winter, everyone else is sporting bikinis and swimming trunks.
I also liked how Cameron when the house got robbed said ?They took my jacket? and with robber ,give me my jacket!
2nd best episode of the season!
glad to see that cameron is more like she was in S-1 now.
also actress who plays jody was good in this ep, her character is bad but she does a great job of acting as jody, she should have been johns girlfriend??
I am starting to think weaver may “be” skynet!
Chad,
Hes a solder…
anyone know the brand of Sarah C’s short grey jacket??
anyone know the brand of Sarah C’s short grey jacket??! thanks.
I thought that Cromartie took out T-Ellison way to quickly and easily at the start of the episode. Ok, so he know the T-888’s weaknesses being one himself (or itself) but you’d think the power source (or whatever it was) would be better protected than that.
If he had been pinned on the ground and Cromartie had at him with a metal stake or pipe, and there was a lot of crunching and wrenching about involved.. ok. (But then it’d be easier to just do the classic open head, remove chip, routine.) But standing from behind? No chance. It seemed a case of sacrificing realism for drama (and to be fair it was dramatically good.)
Apart from that grantedly small issue, a great episode.
One, thing. I’m wondering how Cameron’s access of her ‘Alison’ memories will affect the character in future.
Considering how coldly she executed the guys today, the answer would appear to be “not at all.” If anything she seems a bit harder than she was before (unless this is her over-compensation of what she sees as a weakness.)
I don’t intend to bring this up as a criticism though, just a thought that occurred, something that might well be resolved in future episodes.
This show is available to watch on Fox’s website, but only the last few episodes. Why does Fox persist in getting rid of the old ones?
Some people…you know, like MYSELF…may not have seen the old ones, and want to watch them. Now I have to scratch around looking for them. That policy SUCKS!!!
