the mythology evolves.

We’ve got a lot of ground to cover in this series. At it’s most basic, it’s the story of a mom raising her son under extraordinary circumstances. But it’s also part of the epic franchise James Cameron started back in 1984 with The Terminator.

Like last season’s Dungeons and Dragons, tonight’s episode catapults us back into the terrifying future, where a scrappy band of rebels led by John Connor work to stop the deadly machines. With this story, the mythology evolves further with some of Cameron’s origin. So, who or what is this particular machine? What was she made for? And how is she different?

Weigh in with your thoughts before the episode airs. Rehash what we’ve learned thus far in the series about Cameron. Because after tonight, there’s no going back…

50 Responses to “the mythology evolves.”

  1. Whilst gorgeous, she’s too human for my liking. I like my cyborgs monosyllabic and Austrian!

  2. @Colin Rice: Skynet is an evolving AI entity/lifeform.. and thru the movies and now the serie it’s clear that Skynet main goal is to become something like a god and thinks that its best way to fully evolve from a bare machine state is to get something that humans do have that machines usually don’t have… a soul.

  3. I think the human version of Cameron had some form of her downloaded into the Skynet database, and it showed when she was about to be shut down earlier in season 2…we’ll see.

  4. Ok seriously, yall have got to stop doing this to us.

Tonight’s episode answered maybe one question but now it raises about 500 more. It doesn’t even look like next week (based on the preview) is going to answer any of these new questions.

My head practically exploded waiting for tonight, and what do we get?? The writers toying with the audience! it’s so freaking frustrating!

  5. Wow, great ep tonight. Its crazy how human Cameron is becoming with her behaviour. She is becoming quite deceptive too. What is the deal with this pregnant chick though? Lose her.

  6. Loved the episode. I like an evolving machine into human form. I love how this series is developing.

  7. I didn’t at all feel like we were toyed with. We learned a great deal in this ep about how Skynet worked and we learned where Cameron came from. There’s a gap in how John meets her, but so much room for speculation!

Is John now regretting his decision? Truth and lies, on so many levels. And so well-acted. Well done.

  8. Very very interesting

I love Cameron and this show!

PLEASE THE VIEWERS WANT MORE EPISODES PER SEASON!!!!!!!

  9. I thought this was a brilliant episode. It’s probably my favorite thus far. There were lots of little things that I really loved about it. Sarah telling Casey about John’s birth and the father “being there.” Reminds me of in T2 how Sarah has visions of Kyle, visions that help her get through hard times. I loved that, even if she later explained that Kyle was dead long before that.

As for Cameron’s back story. I loved it. I thought Allison was a great character and I loved how they were using her to try and get to John’s camp. The way that she died was the best part though. That last line of her saying “I’ll never help you find John Connor” was excellent, something you would totally expect of a soldier of the resistance.

This episode has renewed my faith in the series. Keep up the great work!

  10. Hmm, I wonder why present-day Cameron was so emotionally affected and connected to Alison’s life? Merely “reverting” to her infiltrator mode (which is based on Alison) doesn’t explain the emotions. Perhaps future John tweaked her chip so Cameron would have Alison’s feelings/emotions (to keep her alive inside Cameron), or, maybe Cameron actually has Alison’s brain inside her head?

  11. I am lost…what now?

  12. I believe that Cameron is part of a seperate faction of terminators not affiliated with Skynet, that want to achieve cold peace with humans; however this faction understands that it’s not possible when John and his followers are hell bent on destorying every last machine. They understand John’s steely determination, and skepticism, will not allow him to agree to an alliance with a machine faction. So, this other faction use the freighter ship as a Noah’s Ark. They round up humans, not under Johns control, to protect them from getting caught in the line of fire. (The animals are test subjects used for cloning expirements. Hence, the extinct Balinese tiger.) The faction replicates Allison in the form of Cameron to infiltrate the resistence and kill John, allowing the alliance to happen. But, Cameron fails in her attempt to kill John, and he “reprograms” her. Although, she fools John by allowing him to believe the reprogramming worked, so she can make another attempt to take his life(also, explains why she dosen’t take orders from present John). To the factions dismay, Cameron grows to admire and respect John. Under her own power, she overides her mission to kill John, and over time, gains his trust. She still believes in the alliance, but decides the next best course of action is to get herself sent back into the past. She needs time to convince a young John - who is not shaped by hatred, war, and genocide - that not all machines must be eliminated, only skynet. But, ever since the car bomb went off those plans have changed. She has reverted back to her orginal programming to kill John., She override the termination protocal, but not without it’s consequences. She has lost her identity, and she has lost site of shaping a young John Connor to be more compasionate towards machines.

  13. At the end of the episode where “Cameron” Kills jodie, but really doesn’t, I wonder weather that happened to Alison. and WTF by the way, what does she mean I no wonder why John choose you, man fucking writters I know you have to drag it out, but god damn.

  14. Nice episode. Altough the hype made me expext a little bit more from the episode. Some great performances but I felt that I wanted to know a little bit more about who Allison is/was - which I hope we will soon.

On a footnote: One might wonder now if John really were the one sending Cameron back to protect him.

  15. Great episode. Summer’s performance was absolutely amazing. Yeah, the episode raised new questions, but it answered a lot of them too. We find out about some special group inside the Resistance, that’s close to John Connor, and Cameron was created to infiltrate it. But Cameron is not your run of the mill Terminator, no, she first learns as much as possible through interrogation. Wow, can’t stress enough Summer’s performance - when Alison starts crying after she says “Everyone was dead”… Emmy worthy.

The B plots were good too, Sarah and Kacy and the cop baby-daddy, Ellison’s ex and… Catherine has a child! How cool is that, a Terminator as parent! Poor kid though, her daddy is gone and her mommy is liquid metal now.

  16. Patrick,

Great imagination of what you have deduced as a possible story line for Cameron and the faction of renegade machines who want peace. I am still facinated by the writer’s ability to lead us on, but disappointed with some of the plot when it comes to what is really going on in the future. I have some reservations with regard to the Terminator’s from the basis of the three movies that started it all. The T1000 liquid metal machines came later in the movie series and it is strange that we now see one in the TV series so early? Still interesting how the story line it going though!

  17. One of (if not the) BEST episode thus far! Yeah, you guys are toying with us, but that only makes us want to see MORE of Cameron/Allison’s back story and evolution in the present, which I hope you are doing SOON!

Do what you can to keep this show alive and improving because after IMHO a slight stumble with Ep. 2 this episode shows just how good you can make Terminator. That and instances of absolute dramatic brilliance like you did with the ending of The Demon Hand and when Derek took John to the park for his birthday.

My hat’s off to Summer, once again! She is fast becoming an acting force to be reckoned with! Take a bow, Summer! Encore! Encore! =)

I hope and pray that you will allow her to open up her character(s) much like you started to in Allison From Palmdale… she has a definite range in her acting ability, so please utilize it to its full potential! Next year you could be helping her gain that Emmy for best actress she so richly deserves!

Keep on keepin’ on and PLEASE more episodes of this caliber and beyond!

  18. Holy. MOLY.

I am not a person who is well-known for vying for his favorite shows to get Emmy Nods or whatever. We all know that Sci-Fi is never going to be taken as seriously as other genres, though Battlestar helped bridge the gap somewhat. From the points of view of the awards committees and Network Executives, Sci-Fi fans are still seen as the Peter Pans of the TV world - fans who never grew up and realized that they should be watching “Law & Order” every night.

So believe me when I say, as a realist, that I was so *AMAZED* by tonight’s writing, I think even an awards committee would see this and give pause. I don’t know what’s coming for the rest of the season, (and I can only hope and pray that this continues and gets better!) but of the episodes I’ve seen thus far, this year, I would submit *THIS* to the Emmys for consideration for a Best Writing nod, and no other - not ANY OTHER show, not ANY OTHER episode - THIS one. If you guys up in the writer’s room are watching, think about it.

And the best writer’s room snacks this morning should be going to Toni Graphia first ;)

It had everything a Best Writing nod needs, massive character depth, shocking twists, and pure emotion. It was an adrenaline rush seeing all the elements you guys have laid out come together in such a shocking and interesting fashion, only to end on a haunting note where you wonder just what’s *wrong* with this girl.

I quote the cult-classic Witchblade TV series when I say, Cameron is a mystery wrapped within an enigma. She layers lies and truths in this careful near-psychotic artful way, garnering trust where she can and fear where she can’t, and is prepared to do anything to achieve her mission. And she gets angry… She is a character like no other I’ve seen on television, now, and I hope that’s not only not forgotten but only improved upon as we move forward. I have never in my life been more thoroughly creeped out. For the rest of the night, I kept repeating to my friends, “Something’s WRONG with that girl.”

“You, little lady? You’re a VERY scary robot.”

“I’m going to kill him and put his head on a pike, for all to see.”

  19. Wow, indeed, yesterday’s episode was something. I’m still not sure of my feelings towards it, since it had so much information, and some things that i was delighted to see and others that was really shocking (poor way that Allison died). But I’m looking foward to what will happen next, hence I’m a Terminator fan since I was a kid, thanks to my mom, haha!

And i gotta agree to everyone who posted earlier, Summer Glau’s work is simply amazing, I was very thrilled by that!

And now we’re back to more 6 days waiting for the next episode!

  20. is someone able to explain that ep to me?

    im a little confused!! :)

  21. WOW!!!
I expected this episode to be great but that was MIND BLOWING. It just kept getting better towards the end. First of all, about the B plot (Someone give Sarah a hug!!) seriously that woman needs it! The whole baby scene was just awwww. Busy is freaking great too!
Now on to the A plot: …not what I was expecting, but 10 TIMES better!!! The more you find out about Cameron the more complicated she gets! And HUGE props to the writers cause I honestly never thought I could get angry with Cameron but after watching her Kill Alice…yeah I just about joined Derek on the “Off the metal” parade. By the way! Glau deserves an Oscar!

  22. So, Allison’s (Cameron’s) mother was a music teacher who loved Chopin. Does that explain the music in the baement that reduced Derek to tears a second time as he watched Cameron dance, the hidden language of the soul? Is the terminator’s name, clearly an ‘oumage to the original creator, also a reference to Canadian scientist Ewen Cameron (from Journey into Madness) whose experiments found the keys to deprogramming the human mind. Well written- stay tuned–!

  23. Yes, what a great episode that was. Summer was just amazing. Fantastic job by Toni, Josh and the other writers involved. Hope to see some more discussion about it on the Season 2 DVD! Maybe some interviews with Summer and Toni about the making of that one.

  24. I loved it. I don’t trust the machines. When Cameron told Allison that she was part of a group that doesn’t want to destroy all humans…riiight. Remember she told the counselor that she was going to kill John Connor and put his head on a spike for all to see…..man, there is something else going on that we have yet to learn. Maybe her mission is to kill John but she is waiting for the right time, or the right people to be part of his inner circle so she can kill them all. I loved how when Cameron was confused she called her “mom” and it was Allison’s mom before Allison was born…..that was awesome. Keep up the good work guys.

  25. Well, this series has kept my attention this far. Personally, I think that the relationship between Allison and John was clearly personal before it became survival/resistance. Since episode one, season one, writers have given hints here and there. Then, this season’s “I love You” scene does nothing but confirming that. So he lost a great love/friend and decided to alter the look-alike terminator to help him fight other terminators. I have watched Terminator 1, 2 and 3 innumerable times, and find the TV series to develop their characters in accordance to the original notion that Termnators can be programmed to suit human’s services. However, the fact that Sarah Connor’s character is apparently existing in only one level, takes away from the story. I would love to see her character develop and express a variety of emotions. Last night’s episode showed a calm, kind human being. Her character should also be strong and assertive, but those qualities should not be seen as the only one Sarah Connor’s is capable of having. When I first heard about this series, I thought it would be more of her and less of other characters. I like the way John is defiant yet respectful to his mom’s cause. After all, she is the one that can positively make him achieve greatness and be so cool about it. Not sure how can the series accommodate so many incongruencies, such as: the eveident uprisinng of the machines in the present. Why did they come back so late in the present when it is obvious that Skynet has already numerous advantages. Aee they going back to the past again? If so, is Cameron will be reprogrammed as well? Why are they renting a house and making friends with so many? I mean, they will need to leave at a moment’s notice. In Terminator 3, Jhon was already pessimistic and living out of the “grid.” It seems to me that way too many people know about them “now.”
All in all, I look forward to watch the show. Thanks for doing your best every week to entertain the likes of me. It is amusing how you hint every week about the transformation of the cyborg into human, or is it the transformation of hopeless human survivors into beings still full of unaswered inquiries and wonder?

    Y

  26. Summer is a fantastic, very underated actress, and she played the “3 characters” well. However, this “humanizing” of a Terminator is detracting, and illogical. She’s a machine. Please don’t forget that fact and turn this terrific idea of a show into another Dawson’s Creek. I’m praying that this “humanizing” of Cameron doesn’t continue. The whole, “Data and his emotion chip” was cheezy 15 years ago; please don’t do it here. I’m begging you, as a die hard Terminator fan since 1984, don’t go down that road, because there are many of us that want this show to continue.

  27. What if Allison was John’s adoptive daughter? She is 16in the future….family dead … missing home.. how old is John? If Cameron really is part of a good robot group maby she sent herself back to work on relations with a younger John, after failing with older John. If John has a fathe4r role in the future this couldexplain all the hair stroking and protective
behavior John has. He sees her as a little sister
in 2007, and a daughter in the future?

  28. also… Cameron’s concerned that people in the future will not like John’s decision not to destroy her after she “went bad” this would support the idea she is for building a relationship between humans and robots.

  29. First off, Holy Crap and second thank god for FOX’s internet thing because I keep missing parts of every episode this season and it’s bugging me. But WOW I was blown away by this episode. I liked how it delved deeper into Cameron’s past and thought it was interesting how the happy birthday balloon set her off. It also makes me wonder if she’s really been reprogrammed, or this is all Skynet and she’s going to carry out her programming and kill John. I also wondered how she was able to cry when she was talking to the shrink if she’s a Terminator perhaps another special ability of her model just like being able to eat?? Hope we get to go back to her back story again, she’s my favorite character in the show (which means she’s evil or going to die forever), but anyway. Summer’s performance was awsome and I can’t wait for next weeks episode!!

  30. Wow! Amazing episode. I love how the writers gave us an insiders POV on Cameron’s/Allison’s existence. I wonder if the robots maintain memories from the humans they take over in order to pull from the archives human emotions/experiences in which to blend in. I really like where this is going. Oh! And how Catherine has a kid! It’ll be interesting to see what role the girl will play!

  31. Basically, the story line was so exciting and eye catching that I had to rewind multiple times to see the excellent acting of each character especially Cameron. Wow! At this point I want to go into the future to watch the rest of the season. Just can’t wait!
This show is one of my all time favorite. Having taken psychology and philosophy has given me the background of the mind and human vs machine. This show interesting because it brings back this question about human vs machine. Can a machine ever be the same as a human mind? If a machine can do all that a human can do, can it have emotions, love, and even have a soul? Cameron has shown some of these traits by being able to “override” her missions (ie Not to terminate John Conner). Hum, this show is so interesting and always full of action. And the actresses and actors and perfect for the show.

  32. Great ep, well written and as usual a terrific performance from Summer!

I’m with the Turk here per above…I don’t trust the Allison-bot for one second. Is there really a secret cadre of peace-loving Terminators out there in the future? We shall see.

Meanwhile, you guys continue to mess with us: what is Cameron’s real mission? Did FutureJohn REALLY succeed in re-programming her, or is she still secretly on a Terminator mission…or, even more scary, did that car bomb completely mess up whatever John did to her and knock her permanently off-mission? Do we even need to know.

Always a ton of fun, this show.

  33. Some of the major hints that the writers gave us so far on why Allison soul was highly likely transferred into Cameron terminator machine body:

    1) Episode 2.01… Cameron tells Sarah if she believes in “resurrection” and “the story of Jesus Christ”… that’s not the terminator speaking there, that’s Allison inside the machine.. in conflict with her own condition and being as brave as she always was she doesn’t want to hurt her lover John Connor and tells Sarah to not let him bring her back again if she goes bad another time

    2) On this 2.04 episode.. we see that Cameron terminator broke Jody neck but she survived.. the episode ends giving us an hint that the terminator took over and Allison got disabled once again. This hint tells us that it’s highly likely that terminator Cameron didn’t kill Allison .. we don’t know what happens next and how much time Allison had before being dead. We don’t know if the machines use Allison body and mantain her alive in some factory maybe as a source for better terminator clones/copies of her. We don’t yet know if future John Connor and his resistance fighters found Allison dead or still alive but that she was going to die anyway or if he found her alive but in pieces with her brain connected to machines that were analyzing and studying her as a lab rat.

    3) The opening on every episode always tells us that Cameron is a terminator of the future reprogrammed to protect John Connor and Sarah Connor. “Reprogrammed” .. yes.. but how that happened it’s not told.. we will find out soon or later but many hints have been given already all pointing to the fact that future John Connor brought his lover Allison back to life by transferring her mind/soul inside the machine resembling her.. but the process is far from perfect and human Allison has to take control of terminator machine Cameron and as we have seen this sometimes fails and the machine takes over.

  34. @Turk: That was not Cameron trying to be Allison and being confused. That was Allison with his memories erased/unaccessable… just like on Robocop movies, anyone remembers that? Allison being brought back to life, resurrected inside in the machine and coexisting with Cameron Skynet AI entity… that’s the whole point here.
Cameron got completely switched off, due to neural memory chip being compromised Allison own memories got confused and she forgot everything, she thought to be a normal girl, she was acting like she was a little kid.. that’s the reason why she calls her mother–she has no clue of the year she lives in nor she looked at herself in a mirror, did she?
When she was phoning home she was really sincerely looking for her mother. That was Allison mind/soul.. Allison is alive inside Cameron, that’s pretty clear. What is not clear yet is… did Skynet put a full copy of Allison mind/soul inside Cameron (highly unlikely I’d say) or did John do that in order to save her ?
Or even worse… was Cameron being controlled by Allison inside her and so being Allison after John transferred her in the machine by using a Skynet own factory and resources ever captured back by Skynet itself and re-reprogrammed by re-activating at least in part the Cameron AI entity ?

We will see, if the show survives, what the writers came up with BUT it seems pretty clear that the real human Allison lives inside Cameron and together with the machine.

  35. “@Turk: That was not Cameron trying to be Allison and being confused. That was Allison with his memories erased/unaccessable… just like on Robocop movies”

Obviously I wanted to write “with her memories” .. I was typing fast and thinking about similarities with Robocop and so I wrote the wrong word, sorry.

  36. All good theories. But, it all may be more simple that that. It’s possible that, in an effort to build a better infiltrator, Cameron was based on a real life human who was close to John. It is possible that the damage to the chip activated the interrogation memories and scrambled Cameron’s memory files (the same happens to desktops today.. but they don’t start killing people..yet). I don’t know about all the “soul and mind” transfers being speculated about; but I am sure whatever it is it will be a mind blower.

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I know some of the fans want the non stop action back. I like the action too. But, episodes like that really add a much needed dimension to the Cameron character, let alone the character of Sky Net. I loved the movies, but Sky Net was this stereotypical monster; no real insight, one dimensional. In the series, Sky Net is proving to be rather the complex personality. Maybe an unintended side effect of incorporating human data?

I think it’s sad that Fox may cancel this series before it gets a chance to run out. This seems to be a sad trend these days. Maybe it’s a timeslot thing (a move as a lead in or lead out to Bones?). One has to really question the current methodology of ratings recording. It’s science fiction, but a thinker. I’m tired of the viewers with the “my puzler hurts’ syndrome determining what watch. This show has definate potential to be X-Files big (Duchovny era). I hope it goes on.. but, deep down inside, I think it will get “Jericho-ed.”

  37. After reading the post by ‘Corey (Thecolours)’ I wonder if his idea could link to the plot of ‘Terminator Salvation’. If, for instance, the ‘Alison’ Terminator failed to kill John, perhaps Skynet then sends the T-101, with it being aware of his past links with that model. As per the dreadful ‘Terminator 3′, that model is successful in killing John in the future.

I’m still kind of disappointed John does die in the future, but one must have tragedy to create drama. I wonder if James Cameron would have had the same ending for his hero?

  38. if they cancel this show.. i am done watching fox end of story. if your smart fox dont cancel it.

  39. @Colin Rice: Terminator3 has been completely cancelled by both TSCC and the upcoming T4 movie. There will be no references to T3, what happened in T3 is not considered part of the story anymore, it’s considered to be like a possible/alternate reality.

  40. I just thought about an alternative that has not been mentioned here. What if Cameron has both the Allison personality and Cameron/Skynet personality for example on two different chips, and these chips are separately glitching, creating different states for the machine. For example, in the very beginning we see a regular girl (Allison), who knows that she is a machine, but after encountering a threat (Cromartie), the machine side takes over to ensure John’s protection, shutting out the humane side. After the bombing, there have been fast switches from machine to human back to machine, and in the latest episode, maybe the machine side of Cameron’s “brain” shuts off completely, leaving only the human side, not aware of being a machine. I think this would traumatize just about everyone, thus the memory loss/confusion.

Just some thoughts, can’t wait for the next ep!

  41. Hmmm, couple of questions - how many times can someone / thing go back in time? I reckon Cameron has been around for a while and this isn’t the first time she’s been back. Maybe with alternate time lines there are alternate skynets / base programming? Then again, it seems pretty clear that Cameron was sent to infiltrate and was caught and reprogrammed.

Also can anyone think of a way that the paradox of John’s existence can be resolved… cause if the show ever wants to truly destroy all robots before judgement day John would cease to exist … he needs skynet to be created otherwise no T1. Bridging the robot-human gap is the only way he can survive along with saving humanity. Hence he’s willing to risk a lot to save Cameron to try and keep skynet without it going armagedon on humanity

  42. This ws quite disturbing. John must know when he meets Alison in the future that she is doomed to be replaced with a terminator version - but he still puts her in harms way. When he did this with Kyle Reese that was kind of OK, as Kyle was absolutely necessary for John’s existence. But with Alison he knows she will die a pointless death - to do what? Give him a terminator he can send back in time? That’s a bit wrong.

Though there is another possibility - a good old fashioned loop. What if the Alison who was captured was the Cameron terminator? The original Cameron terminator learns how to act human from its future self and then kills the “human” Alison. The Alison version then is able to infiltrate SkyNet and help end the war - becoming the ultimate infiltrator. When Alison jumped off the Aircraft carrier - she seemed to sink awfully fast.

  43. @twicedead: Nice theory floating on the ‘net on forums but pretty flawed. The scene with Alison apparently sinking in the water was a trick done by the director and producers/writers to look like that. Why? Because surely Alison didn’t want to swim and be seen by the machines looking for her, she was an easy target above a certain level.. so she obviously needed to swim a much below as she could get.. so, why does she scream? Well, because she sees that they quickly found her and she was going to get captured once again. There was a giant net there for her, grabbing her back to surface.
Alison was not a terminator re-programmed by John to be like a human, she was a human, she was a resistance fighter and someone very very close to John, for simple logic either his girlfriend or maybe even his wife, that’s up to what the writers will decide to do with the character and storyline–if FOX managers allow them to.

  44. I’m not trying to be a dick, but “transfering a mind and soul” into a machine is really off base. For starters, a “soul” is a human invention contrived by religion. We can believe in the “soul” all we want, but the truth is, there is nothing whatsoever to back this up, just as there is nothing to back up the existence of “God.” Every major religion (Judeo-Christian, Mueslem, ect…) has had countless research teams and billions of dollars, and man hours devoted to “prove” the existence of their main subjects (aka: Jesus, Mohammed, Moses, 40 years in the desert, ect…). The truth is that there is not one shred of evidence that these stories are true or even based in truth. There is also no evidence outside religious books themselves (aka: Bible, Torrah, Koran, ect..) that the main characters ever existed. I’m not trashing religion at all, I’m just pointing out the facts. How this relates to the subject of a “soul” is simply that a “soul” is a religious invention, not a concrete part of reality. I say all this because the whole “soul and mind” being transfered is off, because there is no evidence for a “soul’s” existence in the first place. There is also no way to transfer a “mind” of a real person into another person or machine. Even spot on clones (scary technology IMHO) would have infintile minds, because a person’s value system and personality is based on life experiences conditioning and reinforcement of cultural ideoligies. Remember, Terms learn at a fast rate, and they mimic, but a computer doesn’t work like a human brain.

I’m really not dissing anyone, promise!! I just wasnted to point out some real life facts, and dispute the validity of the whole “Transfered mind and soul” idea. Sorry to be so long winded.

  45. So, Allison’s (Cameron’s) mother was a music teacher who loved Chopin. Does that explain the music in the baement that reduced Derek to tears a second time as he watched Cameron dance, the hidden language of the soul? Is the terminator’s name, clearly an ‘oumage to the original creator, also a reference to Canadian scientist Ewen Cameron (from Journey into Madness) whose experiments found the keys to deprogramming the human mind? Well written- stay tuned–! Could the Allison-John Connor love be a future mirror of the John-Sarah relationship in which a parent is forced to sacrifice?

  46. @ ohmixmaster: I completely agree with you. Alison was clearly a “higher up” in the resistance camp with immediate access to John Connor. The Terminators made an Alison cyborg once she was captured. They interrogated her to learn of her past and her memories. So Cameron’s glitching now isn’t because Alison is inside her. It’s her reverting back to Infiltrator mode, but jarred. She was mistaking the information and memories of Alison to be her own. Nothing more, nothing less. I don’t think the show is going to start putting brains and “souls” inside these things. At any rate, I agree with you totally.

  47. @Brian: You are wrong. When Cameron freezes on episode 2.04 she then loses the HUD vision, it gets disabled, she switches to a human like vision. That’s not a machine mimic mode, that’s like Robocop movie when the human memories mind/soul of agent Murphy surface from the constrained cyborg machine.
Alison lives inside the machine and John Connor probably managed to do what Skynet wasn’t able to (using Skynet own technology I’d say in a factory that he and Kyle Reese managed to take control of)… transfer Alison mind/soul inside the machine, resurrect her in the machine. And this would simply make even more sense with the hints given by the writers so far, on 2.01 Cameron asks Sarah if she believes in the resurrection and the story of Jesus Christ… that is Alison the resistance fighter speaking and giving viewers hints about her own resurrection.

  48. @ohmixmaster: The fact that you don’t believe in either God nor in having a soul proves nothing and means even less. Telling that it wouldn’t be scientific it’s a pretty silly statement. For official science up to a few years ago even cloning was something impossible to achieve and that couldn’t be demonstrated, it was considered a kid like fairy tale on comics and sci-fi stories… go figure.

  49. Brian: Thanks. I like your idea of “It’s her reverting back to Infiltrator mode, but jarred. She was mistaking the information and memories of Alison to be her own. Nothing more, nothing less.” That makes alot of sence to me, and fits quite well with the story. “Glitched Infiltrater Mode” I LOVE IT!!!!! Well done sir!!

Joerg: How do you know I don’t believe in God? What is “official science”? Also, how is my statement “silly”? BTW, cloning, or at least the beginning of it, began in the mid 1800’s.

  50. This is in response to Correy who had a very interesting theory about a seprate faction of machines seeking to coexist with humanity and willing to allign itself with people to destroy skynet. Mind you, Correy isn’t referring to captured, reproggramed Cyborgs, but a seperate, autonomous group that have some how broken off on their own and decided their own philosophies.

I think your idea is interesting and well thought out. When I saw this episode I had a slightly different, but similar idea. Here’s a question I pose:

IS IT POSSIBLE T-1001, Cathrine Weaver is such a Cyborg? Perhaps she wants to stop Skynet. Didn’t killing the Nuclear-Plant-Manager-guy prevent the plant from being automated (a presumed precursor to SKynet) by 2009. Doesn’t that help the resistance?
