Notes from The Con - MacFarlane Edition

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Buddy TV has FG spoilers:

Because any adventure with Brian and Stewie is always immensely popular, the duo will also be transported back to 1939 Poland for an episode. Let the inappropriate Nazi jokes commence!

TV Squad has pix as well as these tidbits:

Upcoming episodes will feature: A new dog in the Griffin house that is always happy, which will make Brian leave•¦ a takeoff on the ‘Sliders’ premise with Stewie and Brian traveling to different parallel universes.

James Woods will be returning for Family Guy sometime this season.

EW.com•s PopWatch has scoop on Cleveland:

Leaving the series, however, is (Mike) Henry’s Cleveland, who moves to his hometown of Stoolbend, Va., to reconnect with his high-school sweetheart to, as Henry put it, “form a Black Brady Bunch.” MacFarlane noted that he’ll also have a voice role in that series, as the father in a bear family that lives on Cleveland’s street. What does the bear sound like? Polish (we think).

THR’s The Live Feed on Star Wars/FG:

MacFarlane says that the followed up to “Blue Harvest,” an “Empire Strikes Back” parody, is nearly finished. The episode probably won’t air until spin-off “Cleveland” starts mid-season. As for what other property he’d like to parody: “Not to marginalize myself, but if Paramount would let us do ‘Wrath of Khan’ •¦ if we could do ‘Sound of Music,’ we would do that•¦ ['Star Wars' worked] because our audience generally knows that movie word-for-word.”

TV Squad has more on the Star Wars ep:

Mike Henry and Richard Appel were asked if there was going to be any crossover between Family Guy and The Cleveland Show. Along with MacFarlane, they said no, though Seth said he’ll bring Cleveland back to be R2D2 in his Empire Strikes Back parody.

The Buzzing of Millions of TV Watching Bees

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

“…Beads!?”

So. FOX Upfronts. By now you’ve probably heard that we’ve got a few tiny shows by some little known TV show creators. Some guy named Ahems and some dude named Whesdon? Wheredon? Whedon?

Aaah, you know who I’m talking about. J.J. “Entertainment Thunder” Abrams and Joss “Entertainment Lightning” Whedon. When the gates opened after our Upfronts on Thursday afternoon, the internet went cray-zay. Crazy to the point of breach of contract.

First, let’s not overlook the FOX line-ups for 2008 and 2009. We’re bringing you nine new shows, and several of them from the best minds in the industry (read: Seth MacFarlane’s The Cleveland Show, and Mitch Hurwitz’s Sit Down Shut Up). Take a look at our 2008/09 Upfronts page to see trailers for the new shows and see which of your favorite shows are coming back.

“Bees!”

Fringe and Dollhouse are going to be amazing. I’ve never seen so many fansites light up so quickly once the news and details of these two shows arrived. Video clips for both shows are out in the webiverse now, so go get yourself some Thunder and Lighting pie and tell us what you think.

And then add that our network captain, Peter Liguori, wants to give you Dollhouse and Fringe with FEWER commercials.

There’s so much to say, and so much more to come. I don’t want to burn you out just yet.

“…I don’t think G.O.B.’s on board…”

The Nine-Figure Range Man

Monday, May 5th, 2008

“Cleveland” is in development now. From Variety:

Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane has sealed an overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV, keeping him in business with the studio through 2012.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but should MacFarlane’s properties, which also include “American Dad” and upcoming “Family Guy” spinoff “The Cleveland Show,” hit all their financial goals, the value of the pact could ultimately enter the nine-figure range.
