Tweet-peat Update

Thank you to everyone who participated in last night’s FRINGE Tweet- peat special event!  We’ve read through all the fan feedback.  While many people were thrilled with the opportunity to interact with the FRINGE cast and producers, others felt the on-screen graphics made it difficult to follow the broadcast.  We’ve listened and have used these comments and suggestions to help us make a few adjustments to tonight’s GLEE Tweet-peat special.

Don’t forget that Tweet-peats are unique events for repeat episodes only.

Tonight’s GLEE Tweet-peat will air at 9 PM ET/PT.  During this encore airing of the GLEE pilot, both east and west coast broadcasts will feature LIVE tweeting by the cast.

Thank you.

  1. Tweetering is very disconcerting and interrupts my focus !!
was hoping to watch the last 2 shows of last season. But couldnt.
    Neither could my friends.
I had to go and just read the recap.

  2. NO TWEETS….
    You gotta be kidding!!
The LAST thing i want to see on my 52″ plasma is half of the screen covered with the opinions of a bunch of people that i do not know…and REALLY do not give a rats a** about what they THINK (and “think” may even be a stretch!).
Fringe is a great show …and of course i think Fox is a top notch broadcaster…but…
PLEASE STOP THE FREAKIN’ TWEET THING.

    John Bernier

  3. You have taken a very good show and ruined it by the trash at the bottom of the screen locking what was an enjoyable program………..

    It is off my dvr

  4. bye bye

  5. We tevod the 9/4 episode of fringe only to find this really wiered, annoying messaging going on through out the show. Having not seen the original airing it really detracted from the viewing. I hope you do not intend to continue this activity. We watch a lot of Fox programing but I am sure that will stop very quickly if this is the direction you are going.

  6. PLEASE, dont twitter on the screen while watching the program! It was so distracting, I stopped watching. Enough already!

  7. Please dont twitter while show is in process. It was too distracting. I stopped watching because of its distraction to the story/

  8. LISTEN TO ME!! THIS TWEET PEAT SH*T is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! DO NOT EVER DO THIS AGAIN. It was extremely annoying, and I could not see all of the program. DO NOT EVER DO IT AGAIN!

  9. I HATE the twitering I will NOT watch the show again!!

  10. Good to see that you are making some adjustments. I hope they are some major adjustments. I had a a hard time watching with all the nonsensical comments that were made not to mention the fact that half of the screen was taken up by these comments. If you must twit, keep it to just a line at the bottom of the screen.

  11. I like your show, but the tweeting graphic is the most moronic thing I have ever seen on TV. You have made it impossible to enjoy the show. After 10 minutes I turned it off/ Your advertisers must be thrilled. Sorry, but you have lost a viewer… and I’m sure many more. Smarten up.

  12. The Tweat-Peat was TERRIBLE! Trying to get my friend into the show with this episode and all she could focus on was the horribly distracting screens. NOT a good move.

  13. I just experienced the tweet-peet show and have to say that is the MOST ANNOYING THING I HAVE EVER seen on television. If Fox persists in destroying my television show with inane, constant text over the show I am trying to enjoy, I will switch the channel AND NEVER COME BACK, it’s not like we don’t have 700 other channels to choose from.

  14. HATE the tweets during the program. They cover a third of the screen and it’s too distracting to be ignoring a bunch of ENDLESS, insipid comments. Tweet after the show, or to each other without bothering people that actually want to WATCH the actors and LISTEN to the dialog. Some of us actually have an attention span longer than that of a gnat.

  15. I saw your tweet crap and turned it OFF. Even though I saw the show in 1st run, I thought it would be great to watch such a great show again but was I surprised! Who wants to see there and watch distracting crap on the actors faces? If this is what the new season will be like, you can count me out!

  16. Are you kidding? Who liked this? I have never been so irritated in my long and eventful life. STOP THE TWITTER! At least make it optional if you think it is so essential to whatever. I love Fringe, but I will not watch it if this continues, damn it.

  17. The tweet-peat was awful. If you do it again we will not watch the show and we have never missed one yet. I don’t want to have writing on my TV during a show and it makes it impossible to follow the show. I don’t care it it is smaller in the future, it does not belong and we will not watch with it there. We are not the only ones that feel this way. Who ever came up with this idea should be fired!

This is a show that was written in such a way that it appeals to intelligent people who can grasp the concept, The tweet boxes are just chatter and you find yourself completely distracted from the content of the show . Also it reduces the screen size of the television and if I had wanted a 20″ inch hd tv that is what I would have bought in the first place. If people want to have the option of watching this feature it should be available as closed captions to give people the choice.

  18. Just want to comment on last night’s episode of Fringe. Love this show, but unfortunately having the tweeters comments displayed during the show really was distracting and annoying. My husband and I really didn’t enjoy the show. Please remove the comments being made from the screen. Not a good visual. Otherwise you will be loosing us as viewers.

    Sincerely,
    Carmen

  19. Please, please immediately stop your tweet crap on Fringe!

  20. One again please please stop your tweet crap on Fringe!

  21. I cannot believe that someone would take such an exciting show that they worked so wonderfully on and turn it into this twitter nightmare. It’s distracting and adds nothing to my viewing interest at all. If anything, I would not watch a program that I thoroughly enjoy because of this nonsense.

  22. FRINGE is one of my favorite shows on TV and it was absolutely RUINED the last time i tried to watch with the Twitter comments. Adding Twitter comments to a show is a HORRIBLE idea and I sincerely hope you STOP THIS immediately. The Twitter comments SHOULD BE ONLY FOR ONLINE VIEWERS or users of Twitter, logged into Twitter. It has ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE being on a broadcast TV show. I was so ANNOYED by the inane comments that I had to switch to another channel. PLEASE STOP RUINING one of my favorite shows. I cannot watch with the STUPID COMMENTS running accross the screen. FIRE the LAMEBRAIN who came up with this RIDICULOUS IDEA. I really hope you STOP TWITTERING on the screen and let me watch your otherwise excellent show in peace.

  23. Your blog comment says that “many people were thrilled” with your on-TV-screen tweets. “Others felt the on-screen tweets made it difficult to follow the show.” Maybe if you read these comments you will realize that those “others” are in the vast majority. The tweets did not simply make it difficult to follow the show. They made it impossible to enjoy the show. I persisted throughout the hour hoping those damned tweets would finally disappear. But, after what seemed like hundreds of pointless, inane comments, they did not disappear.

If you seek only to have the tweet fan-base watch “Fringe”, stick with it guys. I, and apparently many more, will be forced to give up one of our favorite shows. The latter comment is a promise!

PS: I watched the first showing of “Glee”. Twitter “Glee” and watch what happens.

  24. Love the show. But the tweet stuff on the recaps was really frustrating. I watched all the episodes but was trying to get my husband to watch as well. Needless to say he got annoyed and I’m trying to convince him to continue to watch. Please take the twitter away!

  25. If you are going to continue to have twitter on screen during any of your programming, my husband and I are not going to watch fox. It is very distracting, and we really have no interest in idle chatter!

  26. The tweets destroy the show.
    Bye-bye.
    Tivo –> Delete.
    JBB

  27. great way to ruin the show! with a little more creativity you can obscure the whole screen with crap that no one in his right mind wants to see. all the ads popping up on screen are bad enough but this is the most agravateing yet.

  28. Please, please do NOT do the tweet crap anymore. It is so freakin annyoying. Does anyone really like it???

  29. Lose the tweets or lose your veiwers

  30. Had Fringe on my DVR. Started watching it and got the tweeter crap. Deleted the show without watching it. If it occurs again I will never turn it on again.

Whose stupid idea was this anyway.

I hate pop ups of my tv too!

  31. the tweet-peat was HORRIBLE!!!!! i love the show and have gotten many people to watch it however after trying to deal with the tweets taking up half the screen i got very annoyed and tuned into another station. not sure who’s idea this was but whether new or repeat episodes are being shown tweet-peat should never be on the screen. NO ONE cares about others conmments or interacting with the cast. . . . what’s even more annoying is that a few people actually took part with comments, crazy world we live in

  32. Stop the tweeting you twits. How annoying was Fridays broadcast? If it happens again, I will be changing the channel, permanently. You get enough bucks for advertising, knock it off. Whoevers idea this was should be fired. Half my screen was used for tweeting and what was this I read when I went to the site that you’ll be doing it again on other shows? I’m going to the network next to complain. No more spot runners either. I am also complaining to the Canadian Television Standards communications who license/regulate you. Heads need to roll over the poor judgement you displayed Friday on Fringe. You twits should take a tweet break, its clearly clouding your judgement.to think that the public wants more advertising/twittering. ANY size tweet shows up on my screen again and the sponsors will be hearing from me as well. Smarten up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Please DO NOT do any more of the twitter and tweet during one of my favorite shows!!!!! It totally blows my concentration. I wanted to watch these episodes over again to get ready for the new season. I GOT NOTHING OUT OF IT!!!!!!! It is SO distracting!!! If this continues, I WILL stop watching this show!!!!!! My husband felt the same way. I heard people at work who were also pissed. Nobody I talked to enjoyed this annoyance!!!

  34. I was glad to see that the twittering will not be part of the 1st run shows, however, I find it a huge intrusion. Not everyone is able to see the 1st run and rely on the repeats. Fringe, one of our favorite shows will not be watched in this house if it continues, sorry. Bad enough I have to listen to people on cell phones everywhere I go. I don’t want that type of intrusion in my own home.

  35. The tweeting took up almost half the screen and was so irritating that I stopped watching after 10 minutes. Fringe looked interesting, but I guess I’ll never see another.
I’m never able to watch first showings and have to rely on reruns.
I guess I shall never see the show again if you insist on running that Twitter bullsh*t.
    What a stupid idea!

  36. I watched this on my DVR when I got home only to find that the show was RUINED by the idiotic tweet crap!

What? Seriously? When was this a good idea? - I am done with this - it is now off of my DVR - if I watch, I will watch on hulu or something but I will not be tuning in anymore.

Thanks for ruining a good show with a stupid idea.

  37. I taped the episode of Fringe so I could watch it on Saturday at my leisure. Once the Tweet crap started all I did was get severely annoyed. I was so distracted that I finally let the thing run and went on line to find a site at which I could complain.

My intention was to recap the last couple of shows to lead into the new season but if the new season is going to contain the twitter crap….count me out. For those people who want to twitter about the show let them do it between themselves and leave the rest of us alone.

You have ruined my favourite show.

  38. I agree!!!!! Please no more tweets!!!!!!
I am hearing impared and watch closed captions.
This completely ruined the show for me.
I could not follow. I hope to catch it another time without those twits.

  39. A friend watching separately and myself tried the whole time to turn off our SAP tv contgrol and some other digital menu option on our TVs thinking the tweet thing could be turned off, but to no avail. I imagine tweet, inc. paid a pretty penny to get this obnoxious insert in so that fox won’t want to publish anything bad about tweet and tweeters, but please NO tweets ever again! Totally distracting, I did NOT want to read it, my five year old daughter (she is a reader!) was not so discriminating and while walking through the living room to go to the front porch read, and said the word “bitch” which was apparently published on national tv to us - considered a “bad word” in our house. Thanks a lot, but NO thanks.
    sincerely
    joe

  40. My husband and I recorded episode 19 of Fringe and watched (sorry-tried to watch) it just last night. The “tweet” thing was awful. It took up half the screen and it was just mindless chatter. We kept hoping it would go away. It did, during the commercials.

I got on your website today to complain and was happy to see that we were not the only ones who were really frustrated by this stupid distraction. We won’t be watching again until the new season starts. Hopefully, that’s the last we’ll see of it. If it’s not, we won’t we watching again. It’s a shame- we think it’s a very good show.

  41. You lost a room full of fringe fans(8) with your diabolical addition of tweeter hiding half the screen and completely distracting us from the story on screen. The comments were excruciatingly banal, even childish, making us wonder about the mentality of other ‘fringe fans’.We had so looked forward to this second series and are really, really dissapointed. We lasted 10 minutes and ,in unison, agreed to turn the” fringe” off forever.! There is no way would any of us be prepared to return to this verbal and visual abuse of our senses on our screens! The imbecile whose idea this was should be castrated and given community service for insulting us with this rubbish and ruining a super series that was.
Note;- we turned over to a re-run of Mel Brooks Frankenstein”(which we had all seen umpteen times) how sad is that…but at least we could appreciate the film without distraction and mood destroying twittering. The series will never reach the end of the run as you will quickly lose the other half of the viewers left after this stupidity. Good bye et adieu!

  42. Tweets suck What is the purpose. Please stop them

  43. “NO MORE TWEETS!” All the comments have been negative. If you truly care what your viewers want then you will stop this feature immediately.

  44. I love Fringe, but I hate the tweet-thing you are putting on the screen. Please stop these things. The ruin the show. I even enjoy some of the re-runs, but not with this tweet junk on the screen. Please, please, please stop it.

  45. Just watched the first episode of the season on DVR. HATED the tweets that played throughout the show. Distracting from the great show that it is. Would also hate to see this on the season premiere of Glee. Almost makes me not want to tune in for that show if you are going to block half of the program with tweets.

  46. I’m with the rest of the viewers. A sure way to lose your fans quickly is to keep on
tweeting. Annoying crap is all it amounts to.

  47. Many people enjoyed the tweeting? I havent read one comment saying it was a good thing. I for one will be turning the channel if it’s back on! If people want to talk about the show couldn’t you just make a chat room on this website? That to me would be a better idea. Plus you might get to keep some fans. I AM BOYCOTTING THE TWEETING!

  48. Good thing we had it Ti Vo ed it was erased in seconds. In case it isn’t clear yet, yes we that suffered thru your brain storm did not pay for the premium channel to watch the first release. And the majority will probably not be watching your sponsors money falling on an empty screen. You should resign. Don,t let your next job be on Wall Street either.

  49. PLEASE STOP THE TWEET STUFF (TO BE POLITE) ON FRINGE!!!
WE WANT TO WATCH THE SHOW, NOT READ INANE COMMENTS.

  50. My husband and I agree with all of the above. We already miss the first one, most likely won’t watch again. If you are going to tweet. we can wait for the season disc

  51. Love the so, but the junk on the bottom of the screen, reminds me of a bad japanese sci-fi movie with losey sub titles. Keep it up, and we’ll find something else to watch

  52. Who ever thought of forse feeding tweet should be fired!!!seriously do you honestly think that this was a good idea…repeat or not if it happens again im done and myself and family love the show…

  53. Please stop your tweet on Fringe. My husband and I really enjoy the Show and we recorded it on DVR, we sat down to watch the show and hated the tweeting. My husband and I talked about it and decided that if the tweeting continues on the new episodes, we will no longer watch the show.

  54. The tweeter banter was a huge distraction and we found it simplistic & annoying so much so that if we see it again we will change the channel immediately rerun or not.

  55. Well, you morons did not listen to the overwhelming number of people that gave you very sound feedback on the tweeting fiasco. Wake up!!!! This is my second round of feedback to tell you I am removing Fringe from my DVR recording list. Good-bye to you and your sponsors…

  56. PLEASE NO TWEETS! It’s distracting and annoying - desn’t matter if it’s a rerun.

  57. Please stop this twitter stuff!!! I am trying to watch what once was a great show-this is ridiculous. I am thinking of never watching again-please stop!!!

  58. As we hunkered down to watch the taped show, we were horrified to find the dialogue boxes compliments of twitter. Please put an end to this annoying practice. At first we thought that they would stop on their own but to our dismay didn’t. Whoever came up with this idea should get transferred to another department. It is extremely arrogant to think that anyone would be interested in some idiots opinions while trying to watch the show. If this continues, my hubby and I will find something else to watch.

  59. I was watching the show on direct tv. I rewound to the part before the last combustion. Did anyone else notice the box of lights from the “toy/game set”? (You know the one from earlier when she had to use her mind to stop the spread of the closing virus)

  60. Fringe was one of my favorites last season. With the addition of twitter this year, I won’t be watching. Oh well….

  61. The tweets ruin the show. I will not watch this session if this continues. Looks like you know how to ruin a show. Let the tweeters do it all they want, we do not want to read it over the picture.

  62. STOP THE TWEETS! Love the show HATE THE TWEETS. I like to watch the reruns, but I will not watch with the tweets. Please don’t ruin the new season. This is one of the best shows on. Please stop.

  63. Who thought this might be a good idea? They should be fired. Ruins the show, will delete it forever if it continues. Not everyone is a “twitter”, worthless garbage.

  64. I agree with ALL of the above comments. Even though I’m on Twitter myself, I will NOT watch Fringe, much as I love it, if you continue with these inane, distracting “tweets”, reruns or not!!!

  65. And if you do it with another wonderful show, Glee, you’ll lose my viewership there as well!!

  66. Watched last night (9/10) and there was NO twitter B/S!
    THANK YOU!!!

I really enjoyed watching the Season-1 Finale and I’m looking forward to next week’s Season-2 Premiere:)

You have no idea how thankful I am that Fox decided to abandon the Twitter thing, it would have killed my favorite new show.

    Thanks again!
    Steve

  67. Please! Stop with the tweeting - even if it is just on the repeats. What about those of us who didn’t see it the first time? How annoying. Especially that it takes up almost half of the screen. Come on guys/gals - twittering is cool, but not across the show we’re trying to watch. Who cares what ANYONE “thinks” while we’re trying to follow th story?
This is totally invasive - it’s enough that we have to put up with commercials even AFTER paying for cable/satellite already. The majority hates it. STOP!

  68. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? What the hell are you people doing with the show??What a HUGE disappointment!!! I have a party of 15 of my friends to watch Fringe, (every episode…’The Fringe Party’), but instead we’re watching you people twittering on the screen??!!!!! Do you have any idea that it takes away the drama and excitement of the show?? Whoever came up with that idea should be FIRED!!!

  69. So…. Have you geniuses gotten the message yet?? I really DO hope that we have seen the last of the Twitter / Fringe debacle. (Or Twitter + ANY show combo for that matter - This should be VOLUNTARY, and not foisted upon your viewers)
