So what did you think of the second episode that aired tonight? We’re dying to know your thoughts!!

  1. I think this is off to a very good start. We’ve been provided with enough info to care about Olivia, and enough to be curious now, especially after tonight, of Peter’s background. I don’t think it’s fair to compare this to the X-files as so many are, but I’d take it as a compliment, and move on with your own direction. Acting by Noble is superb and he is by far the best reason to watch the show so far!

  2. The first episode aroused my curiosity. Episode two quashed my interest. I felt that the mystery was given away, leaving little if any guess work for the viewer. I also noticed that there was more one liner jokes in Episode two. This show doesn’t need to be funny. I’m guessing that its trying to appeal to a larger audience that way, well it may have lost some.

  3. I love this show!! At least the episodes have endings (main reason I did not like X Files was episodes were unsolved) and not the same old stuff. Last nights episode was riveting!

  4. If you are going to use location labelling, you should get your facts straight. Stoughton, MA has no suspension bridge or seaport and Sudbury is nowhere near stoughton. Also, what the heck is “ditton”? “I used to live in Ditton”…?

  5. Otherwise the show is great!

  6. I know it’s only the second show and it’s sci-fi so it should be given a break but given all of its hype I’ve gotta say a few things rub me the wrong way.

1st a thing about character development. Josh’s character is introduced to us as a brilliant but self interested con man with wanderlust and a self destructive streak ( owing the mob money, conning potentially dangerous oil men in Iraq), but within one episode he grows a heart, is content to baby sit his crazy old man in the belly of Harvard U while someone else calls shots. This doesn’t seem in character. He’s been on his own program for years, that would be difficult to give up on the fly. His relationship with his father, while there is a chemistry on screen, is again not in keeping with a character that has spent half his life hating the man. Yes, you can forgive but it’s difficult to forget and that should seep out .
Based on his initial character traits, while I’m sure he’s facinated with some of the discoveries, he would eventually grow bored, skip out and disappear. A possible solution is that he sees a way to profit from his exposure and knowledge of this Fringe division

As reference to yesterday’s episode. The accelerated development of the fetus would have to come from somewhere. Developing from a fetus to a 200lbs man in the span of 4 hours from the body of a 105 lbs woman is a physical impossibility. The baby would need fuel for the growth. The woman should have shriveled up as the fetus took all of her nutrients. Once out of the body the fetus would have to continuously consume more nutrients to spur on growth. That’s my two cents for what it’s worth. I still find the show interesting and hope that it will come into its own stride. I just think that science fiction is not magic fiction and as such even fringe science needs to be grounded in real science.

  7. I thought the episode kicked ass, something is up with Joshua Jackson though. Like how at the end they flashed that shot of the 3 guys in the incubators? Perhaps he’s a mutant or soemthing? What does everyone else think?

  8. My personal view is Peter is was a successful version of the “killer” froom last nights episode. And the three bodies, maybe there is another on out there. Did you notice when the killer died (grew old) he kept repeat something to the affect “He called me son even thought he wasn’t my father” Well I have noticed that Peter never calls Walter Dad is this because he has been estranged from him for 17 years or is it because he is not his real father. I mean the “bad” doctor in last nights episode to one of the “experiments” in as his own. Why couldn’t Dr. Bishop do the same.

  9. Well, all I can think of when watching this, is X-files.

  10. I agree with Peter Diaz about the character development of Joshua. I also want to add that the plot development in general seemed to advance quicker than I was expecting. Episode one tells the story of a quality agent who is pulled into a crime that is connected to a global mystery. She has the attitude that she wants nothing to do with the grand scheme. Episode 2, she is all of the sudden working in 5th gear on fringe science mysteries. And the trio seem to be an unstopable force, able to pull any strings and solve a mystery per week. I hope the show slows down and is given time to develop and build. Lost and Xfiles were both successfull at this.

  11. So, I am in love with the show!!! I think everyone who is concerned about the speed of the 1st 2 episodes need to calm down. The start of this series has a very similar pattern to Alias, which was a fantastic show for 3 seasons. Once the base of the story gets laid out, I’m sure we’re all in for a wonderful ride.
My concern, as I said above, Alias was great for 3 seasons. The last 2 were a disappointment. I hope Fringe can keep the story going for longer and stronger!
Thanks for a creating my newest addiction!!!

  12. The show is awesome, keep it up!!

Fringe is like a new X-Files with a different twist.

  13. This show rocks! The characters carry it and the stories drive it like a freaken high tech rocket car on crack. I think the depth of the characters are going to make it better than the X-Files in the end. It gives the writers alot of stretching room to go in many different directions.

I agree with Gina, we have only seen the foundation being built. This isn’t a cliche scifi action show, its drama, mystery and quirkiness of 2 of the principle characters will keep us interested.

Congrats to all those involved with this project so far.

    Keep it coming!

  14. It was a great episodes. It make you think if the government is already doing things like that.

  15. I really enjoyed this show - minus the need to bury my face in my hands at the bloody old guy and the popped out eyeball! Agree that a few things you have to set aside because they are way outside the parameters of normal and possible! I like the idea of Fringe science having some validity and leaving us with the idea of “what if”….Peter definatly peaks my curiosity, has sex appeal with out being “Gossip Girl” TRASH. Oh and Walter…he cracks me up! Good to have a bit of humor mixed in to relieve everyone else’s tension. He milks a cow, and warms his ass!

Hey, when they were getting images from the girl’s eye and they were wearing goggles while the machine was flashing like an x ray…why did they remove their goggles after it continued to flash?

  16. I just love the show. Peter D., the comment about the acceleration rate of the 200 lbs man from an 105 lbs woman, it makes sense. But again, this is entertainment. This show have manage to captured your interest for a least 60 minutes. So, enjoy the show for what it is. Let it entertain you, and forums/blogs such as this one is a wonderful outlet to express your thoughts. I view these forums/blogs to give me further insight for something that may be puzzling about the show. Plus, I love it.

  17. One comment and this is a no secret.

Please get rid of the folders that have SECRET printed on them.

They are already in a secret group, in a secret room, having a secret conversation, about the secret assignment and its SECRET documents.

…so may be the secret documents can secretly be placed in secret red folders or some other secret portfolio that doesn’t have secret in size 72 red bold print.

  18. I watched the second episode last nite (courtesy of the web- greatest dvr available!)
and agree totally that it has the feel of the X Files, in it’s early days - AND THAT’S A GOOD THING! I haven’t had the desire to watch a program on one of the major networks in some time.

And I do agree that the last shot is those soldiers being grown. And, yes Peter could be one of those or just a red herring….

What works for me, is that they do solve that episode’s mystery and then present another for the following week. Kudos to the writers and actors, I’m IN!

  19. I see that the show is NOT shot in boston. That isn’t Harvard and those commuter rail shots look like the rail in NYC. What’s the deal with that?

Other than that I agree that there is something XFile like — the unknown — subplot. And I loved the XFiles
