Stan takes Steve to his first meeting of the "Langley Conservatives" meeting and the members of the Conservatives have chosen Stan to speak at the Republican convention. As they approach a second security check, Stan tells Steve that this checkpoint is to search for homosexuals.
Inside, the Conservatives announce that a female member has been chosen to speak at the convention instead of Stan.
Stan fumes at home, saying no one wants to hear the opinion of a woman. Francine cheers Stan up by taking him to the community theater that is performing a show about Abraham Lincoln.
Stan and the family sit in the front row, horrified by the awful show.
Stan wants to reclaim the good name of the G.O.P and plans to write his own play about Lincoln. The play will be written through the eyes of Lincoln's body guard.
When Stan's play opens, the house is near empty. However, unknown to Stan, he's filled the play with homosexual overtones and the gay community packs the theater. A group of gay men tell Stan that they're members of the "Log Cabin Republicans" and ask him to speak at the Convention on their behalf. They invite Stan to a mixer later that night.
The mixer is a hit. Stan sips on a martini and suddenly it hits him. He's surrounded by gay men. The men tell Stan that even though they're gay, the still share Republican beliefs. Stan defends that he's not gay, and they know.
Stan tells Steve that he's on board with the gay community. Steve is stunned by his father's change and hopes they don't "turn him gay."
Stan sits with Roger, sharing martinis and cheese. Roger cries because he's so happy to see the new Stan. Steve comes home and tells Stan the gays have reprogrammed his father. Steve tries to battle the change by getting his father a hooker. The ploy doesn't work.
Stan heads out to meet the Log Cabin Republicans on a gay cruise, but the guard won't let him beyond the "straight check." Through Steve, the gay men find out that Stan used to be a part of annual anti-gay conventions.
Stan returns home and admits that he can't live a gay lifestyle without being gay. He has decided to have sex with a man. Francine doesn't understand.
Stan goes next door and asks Terry to go on a date. Terry takes him through the night and they end up in Terry's bedroom, topless and playing board games. Stan and Terry kiss, and Stan says he doesn't feel anything. Terry tells him he has to admit that he's straight.
At the convention, Steve protests the gays being part of it. Stan holds a sign, feeling guilty. But the Langley Conservatives ask Stan to speak after the last nominee drove a hybrid.
Stan takes the podium and admits to kissing Terry in front of the entire convention. He tells them that they're wrong about gays and while they didn't choose to be gay, they did choose to be Republican. The convention applauds as Stan changes their minds.
