John Cena is an actor, producer, host, entrepreneur and WWE Superstar. He stars in the upcoming action thriller “The Wall,” directed by Doug Liman and co-starring Golden Globe winner Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Cena recently received the CinemaCon Action Star of the Year Award, in advance of the movie’s release this spring. He’s also set to star alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz in the comedy “The Pact,” scheduled for release in 2018.
Cena has received much attention for his role opposite Amy Schumer in Judd Apatow’s hit comedy, “Trainwreck”; with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in “Sisters”; and in a cameo role in the Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg comedy “Daddy’s Home.” He will reprise his role in the upcoming “Daddy’s Home 2,” which will be released later this year. This Christmas, he will voice the title role of “Ferdinand the Bull” in “Ferdinand,” the animated film based on the iconic children’s book.
In addition to serving as host and executive producer of FOX’s AMERICAN GRIT, Cena hosted cable’s “2017 Kids’ Choice Awards,” TEEN CHOICE 2016, the 2016 ESPY Awards and “Saturday Night Live.” He also will executive-produce the new streaming series “Dallas and Robo,” in which he will voice the lead character. Additionally, he has an upcoming role in the cable mockumentary “Tour de Pharmacy,” starring Andy Samberg.
Cena devotes much of his time working on behalf of numerous charitable causes. He is Make-A-Wish’s most requested wish-granter of all time and the only celebrity to grant 500 wishes. He also is committed to Susan G. Komen and its support of breast cancer research and awareness and has helped raise more than $1.6 million for SGK. Cena is a longtime supporter of the U.S. military, recently recognized by USO Metro as the recipient of its 2016 Legacy of Achievement Award. He recently starred in Ad Council’s Love Has No Labels campaign, “We Are America” to further the message of acceptance and love for all communities across the United States.
In addition to his work in the community, Cena is a powerhouse on social media with more than 43 million Facebook fans, making him the most popular active U.S. athlete on Facebook. He also is one of the most followed athletes on Twitter and Instagram, with nine and six million followers respectively.
Cena also has proven himself to be a powerful marketing force. He is the voice of “Ernie the Elephant” for Wonderful Pistachios’ biggest advertising campaign ever and, last year, he became an ambassador for Cricket Wireless. His video, “The Unexpected John Cena Prank,” has been viewed more than 17 million times. He is in Hefty’s new national campaign, alongside Rob Schneider. Post has featured Cena in a national ad and promotional campaign for the Pebbles brand. He also is a brand ambassador for Tapout, the official fitness and training partner of WWE. As the face of the WWE and a 16-time World Champion, Cena combines his athleticism, charisma, strong work ethic and genuine personality to make him one of today’s brightest stars.
Cena is a native of West Newbury, MA, and received a degree in exercise physiology from Springfield College, where he was a Division III, All-American center on Springfield’s football team. He currently resides in Tampa, FL.
